So, what is everyone's opinion on what Aina is, PC or AI-wise? So far, I haven't found anything to lean either way. Anyone else?

I think there are three possibilities:

A damaged or incomplete Ultimate AI.
The antithesis to the Avatars.
A combination of both.

From what we've seen so far, I doubt she is the antithesis, but I'm certain she is connected to it, the 'it' being the AIDA. The idea that she's an incomplete AI created as a result of the failed RA Plan seems more likely to me.

But that's my own theory, I'm not sure how many agree with it or what evidence there is that could counter it.

A lot of people believe that during the months Ovan was away in Roots, he was taking care and raising Aina. Although I don't see how they'll look alike, I mean there are no genetics in a game.

Tsukasa's emotional data, fed to Aura, did influence her colorings. It seemed to me that Aura adopted Tsukasa's hair and eye colorings. Atleast while in child stage.

AI, guaranteed.

Hmm, yeah, you guys are right. AI does seem more probable. Goes along more with the past pattern in .hack.

Woah in the first link I see some things for discussion:
1. Haseo is Data Draining while not using his avatar in one of the captures.
2. The girl sitting in the chair has huge bulging eyes...strange if shes an AI because usually AI's eyes seem clear and peaceful most of the time.
3. Looks like Haseo is infected with AIDA...maybe thats how he gets Xth form perhaps?

 1. Yeah a little bonus to Xth Form
2. Everything that is not controlled by a human in The World is an AI.
3. Once Haseo gets Xth Form, he is no longer infected.

Well by who, I mean no other character is able to harness their Avatar's ability to that extent... Wait Ovan's e-mail in the other thread... It's all making sense now. <_<

Avatar Awakening isn't a particularly special data drain. He's still using the avatar to do it, hence the "avatar" in the name. Just because Skeith isn't shown doesn't mean it's not Skeith doing it. They've done the overlaying of people on their avatars in cutscenes, it shouldn't be too hard to understand...

I wonder if Aina is friend or foe.

Aina is probably a friend, or atleast neutral. Human-looking, intelligent AI's are typically friendly, as opposed to antagonistic, monsterlike ones.

As for the Avatar Awakening, it could just be a higher level of using the Avatar that any Epitaph User is capable of. Haseo just being the first to unlock it, just like he was the first to have a beserk Avatar.

Could it be Skeith's "skill" to be able to develop faster than other Avatars?
