I've only had the game for abut 3 days, but heres the pros and cons that I have at the moment...
Pro:
learning spells through items
alchemizing weapons
steam bike
better graphics
improved battle system
arena!!!
Con:
how some items take up an inventory slot by themselves (simple water idols I hate you.....)
Death Grunty
Gaspard
Piros the 3rd <--- Piros the 1st was bad enough, but now he's golden, and MORE annoying???

Oh another con:
I absolutely hated it when Haseo would be all 'guess I'll log out and check my e-mail or something' or 'Yata's calling me, I should go to Raven's @Home'. I mean seriously, that was just annoying! We're not idiots...if we get a new mail, we'd most likely check it. And if somebody tells us to meet them somewhere, we'll eventually go and meet them when we realize there's nothing else to do, right? I don't know...that just part just really annoyed me for some reason

More Cons:
-Pausing the start of EVERY Avatar battle to give the control scheme (even though you can look at it by simply pressing start).
-Telling players when/how to dodge the most powerful attacks of Avatars/AIDA, killing the last little bit of challenge that were in the battles to begin with.
-Repetition of the dungeons and feilds (only 2 dungeons concepts and only 1 feild concept? WTF Cyber Connect; you can do better than that. I really hope they fix this in later volumes.)
-Absence of the concept of open feilds. I prefer the "open field with dungeon" concept the previous four games had. Gave each area more exploration value. The "feilds" in G.U. are no different from dungeons.

To my knowledge, you were never forced to actually do a feild and dungeon combo. Feilds were normally optional as the dungeons were the primary thing that had to be completed to progress with the story.
As for the objectives, only the "feild" areas of G.U vol.1 had the "Defeat the Boss" objectives. Most of which just felt like normal battles. The only difference was that the enemy was bigger in size.

Came up with another few cons last night (based on game progression):
Cons:
Haseo's second costume is quite unappealing
How easy the Bordeaux fight was (maybe I shouldn't have level 5 alchemized all my weapons
)
*edited out Antares comment*

Yes I'm not alone!Mystere Man wrote:One Con I have is that the Book's of 1000 don't hold useful info anymore.
In the last game they told you monster stats, who was logged on and what items they had,ect Now you don't get much of anything out of them.
My pro is Chainsaw Swords!
I still use my broad legged more than my +5 wrath/ill wings
For me:
Pros:
-graphics
-Root towns
-The areana
-fields were much more complex
-learning spells through items
-steam bike ( i miss the grunties though,
)
Cons:
-It was so story driven at times that all you did was check e-mail and watch movies
-battle system made it so you had to fight unless you had the item to get away with (but it was motivation to level up instead of saying 'whatever' and leaving the monster behind like the first .hack//)
-only 50 items instead of 99
-field designs were limited
-Piros the 3rd <--- Piros the 1st was bad enough, but now he's golden, and MORE annoying??? (using Lemartes's word because Lemartes desribes this so well)
-I didn't like the camera system that much in this game, I liked it better before
-No more Data Draining stuff on the spot.
