He had to about the same level as Taihaku. So I imagine it had to be rather high.

Actually he was really underleve for the area.

Taihaku had no problems fighting the monsters, Haseo on the other hand struggled and ran.

there is no way haseo was near taihaku's level in the forest of pain. taihaku is at least above level 100 when he attempted it. haseo on the otherhand was very low level compared to the monsters there, he was able to get through because he wasnt hit, or used alot of smokes screens and ran. if i remember correctly he does kill a few monsters, but he also died, more than once i think.

My memory of those episodes is fuzzy, but I doubt it, since you can only attempt the Forest of Pain once, and Haseo didn't have any party members to revive him.

I distinctly remember that his body never turned dead-gray.

He did have Saborou there to heal him a couple times...

I'm sure he died atleast once. I remember as much.

Edit: Yeah, he was killed by a monster because he got overconfident. I remember he returned a bit later.

Edit - With a Vengeance: Ah, Zer0 and Kouen told me he died, but Saburo (defying game physics!) revived him. Atleast he died!

well im sorry to say your distict memory is incorrect. Haseo is Killed in episode 18 and not revived by saburo because he is following taihaku. he turns gray and says that he will get stronger. I just looked it up it happens 4 minutes and 30 seconds into the episode.

Oya.

I watched Roots as they came on in Japan and haven't since. So I really could remember right.

I really should rewatch it.

Well, I'm only human. I can't be flawless all of the time. (Though I am most of the time. I'm looking at YOU, Shin-hoe.)

? Who do you mean? O.o

Anyhow, off AT's pwnage.

Any other questions as to why Haseo was in the forest?

I got one for you. I could never quite understand the reasoning why Taihaku, who was nice and polite at the end didn't get the true reward but Haseo did.

I mean, Taihaku just got a sword, and Haseo got his level jacked up and job extensions and overall more benifits. Why?

A one of a kind sword. It's only Taihaku's theory that Haseo was the real winner, we don't know if that's truly the case.
