Names changed for good? Puchiguso to grunty, Maha to Macha?

Okay, so I've noticed they are going with Grunty which was the US name for Puchiguso and someone stated Maha is also called Macha in this, does that mean they said Macha in this game in Romanji? If they did that's all the proof I need.

I think they just said "Maha", which is consistent with the original name of the wave in Japanese Vol.4. A lot of the names in the original were horribly misspelled though...

Grunty is just changed 'cause it's a new version. Like how Twin Blades are Twin Swords now (same kanji, they're not fooling anyone, in fact, some Japanese people probably don't realize there's a change)...

In the boxset release version of .hack//SIGN, the subtitled name "Maha" was changed to "Macha." It was just a spelling error after all.

Actually, the spelling for that form has always been "macha", even in the Japanese version... It's only the phase form that's different...

Oh, I'm quite positive that when I watched my friend's DVD of Login, it was "Maha." But it doesn't matter anyway, because everyone knows what it's supposed to be.

EDIT: I could be more clear. What I mean is that both the cat player and the phase are called Macha. But for some reason the cat was sometimes mistranslated as "Maha."

"マハ" is the Japanese transliteration of the Germanic "Macha". "Maha" is the direct romanization of the Japanese "マハ". The cat and the phase are both マハ in the Japanese version. Sadly, one translator who didn't quite realize what was going on has caused so much confusion for so many people.

Germanic. It's a language family that includes English as well as German, Dutch, and Scottish. I believe Shinsou Wotan is using the term here to differentiate these languages from Japanese, which is part of a different language family.

Well I originally thought all character names were just created by the .hack team, and like most names are original creations so I didn't think maybe they took those names from some other language. Even though the Epitaph is in German and so Emma would use German names, I thought they were all still original creations like how a series who's characters are based in Japan, could have names sounding un-Japanese or English...ect

But for the longest time I saw Bandai and .hack use the Roman lettering Maha so I figured that was the spelling. Maybe they changed it to Macha to match the US since Roman letters would be understood by the US audiences, I'm sure the Japanese players don't really notice or mind the fact it's now Macha. It's still spelt in Katakana the same.
