Could Tri-Edge be a Doll Syndrome sufferer left over from

Post by Ryuuka »

The World version 1? Iv been thinking about this, and it seems possible. The servers for the first game were destroyed, but some data remained. What if Kite was online at the moment the servers were destroyed, and he somehow got Data Drained, or possibly forced to stay inside the system as a "last defense" by Aura. After The World was rebuilt, Kite's data could have been some of the data which was salvaged, but was still missing something, causing him to become the bugged out Tri-Edge, while he remains unconcious in the real world. This theory has a few holes, but I think it could be a possibility.

Given how The World R2 and The World characters are incompatible with eachother... I'm not sure that's possible.

while it's true that the characters are incompatible, it's not like Triedge is a normal character from teh world r2.

His abilities, weapons and even style don't reflect the new characters but rather the old ones from "the world".

I think it might be possible even if very unlikely.

..... I think it is very possible Tri-edge is affected by Doll Syndrome. Or rather Kite. Tri-edge is definately an AIDA. Aidas' are said to be player characters infected by corrupt data.

I believe you mean AIDA-PCs, a PC corrupted by an AIDA...

Stand-alone AIDA are simply Artificially Intelligent Data Anomalies and don't exist in the real world.

I actually like the idea of Kite being a coma (Am I sick?) and would go along with the theory if there was more evidence to support this. We'll really have to wait and see on this one... Triedge is still quite a mystery.

it could be that..but if it was then the question would bwe who turned him. The why would be easy because of the power of the bracelet that would be a great asset..not to metion if he is under the control of some dark force(starwas just popped into mind) then the entity wouldn't worry about him being on he's/her's/it's tail.

On my opinion I think Tri Edge is actually an AIDA. If you actually see one of the videos (I have such a lame memory of which video it was) near the beginning it says When "it" was born, I'm sure it was referring to Tri Edge's creation, The first thing it saw was a "PK". What this could mean would be that when Tri Edge was created the first thing he saw was someone Player Killing someone else, it probably thought because this was happening it was perfectly normal for someone to actually do and thus became a PK. It's possible for Tri Edge to actually be someone taken over by the dark side of the bracelet or any other types of theories to actually be true but until the game comes out, none of us will find out.

Well letsee, it something like this

SnowManZero wrote:
well, the word doll can imply two thing's

1the player is a doll, being controlled(played with, if you will) by someone else

2the person is a doll IRL, because there not movingI.E. there a doll on a shelf.

the first relate's to umbra's post and the second relate's to EoaS's post.

i reckon it would have to be both.the player is in a coma and not moving, but because they might be infected with an aida, they are still being played with.

(that's my take on it, so i don't care if someone rip's it to shed's)

Nexus wrote:
It might have something to with young children to teens who have played The World enough to where it affects them mentally. Such as a young child plays The World but gets pked and it affects their outlook on things. Or it can be that the people who play it too much have their personality developed mostly for online play and when they are interacting with people IRL they act in an odd manner. Well I think that may be one of the possibilities to whatever this Doll Syndrome may be. Though I wish there was some more info on this since I don't like making wild theory based just on its name.

TenshiNoYami wrote:
i think its a side effect of an Aida-PC
since Aida-PC's are controlled in the world
maybe somehow
just as the World could put people in coma's
the users brainwaves are changed
causing and Aida-User
a person with no real control
who seems hazy eyed and stiff
but does have a goal
whatever the Aida needs done in the real world
the Aida-User will do

AuraTwilight wrote:
Yes, but how would the public come to the first conclusion of the players being actually possessed? It's not like they'd be brain-eating zombies. I think the players go comatose (limp dolls) while their trapped minds are partially fused with the AIDA's.

Icarus wrote:
I think it is pretty easy to somewhat connect the AIDA PC and then the Doll Syndrome as being an extension of each other. The AIDA PC takes over a PC with the lure of more power or "escape" as with Tsukasa and then uses that vessel to not only cause some chaos in the game but to also try to become more "human". It seems to me that Lycoris, the Butterfly boy (for A.I. BUSTER 2), Aura, and Zefie, were all AI that were trying to become more human inside the game...doesn't it make sense that some might become powerful enough and smart enough to try other ways like actually taking over a human body through its conciousness? This would be the ultimate way for one of those AIDAs' to achieve a "complete" existance, to actually be human and walk and talk and move in our world. Just an idea.

wave killer wrote:
Something just came to mind and it scares me. Could the phases be AIDAs!! It seems more possible then it sounds, the AIDAs give PCs power right, and look at the characters who have the phases. Haseo wants to kill all the PKers, Ovan wants to find the key of the twilight, Pai may want to stop the Guild War, Kuhn wants to save all the newbies! Not to mention the phases have to take over the players minds so they can take control of the bodys and walk around in the real world! Yes I know Tri-Edge would prove me wrong, but when he DD Haseo, what if he wasn't trying to trap Haseo in..... but keep Skieth from getting out! If Skieth was there to fight AIDA then why would it attack his fellow phases?! I just thought of this and there may be some info I missed but this seems like it could be a possibility.

There's a lot of theories but these are all the ones I managed to find. Thanks everyone and Xu Yuan!

That did not occur to me, oddly enough.

But I still don't really understand. If we don't actually know what Doll Syndrome is, how can we draw conclusions about it?

We don't draw conclusions from it, that's why we guess what it could be. Even I didn't have a clue what it could be until I read all these theories.

I think this was referring to Haseo though.

Yeah, I wouldn't base anything on the first translation of the trailer having "it" where it'd normally be "he." That's probably just an error, unless you think of PC avatars as things rather than people.

Plus, isn't 'he' 'she' and 'it' all the same in Japanese?

Heh. not by a LONG shot! They have different masculine and feminine pronouns for EVERYTHING! Infact, they have even more words for "he" "She" and "It" than WE do.

However, gender-specific third person pronouns are the exception, not the rule. The most common feminine pronoun (kanojo) was invented only a few centuries back in order to translate "she".

As for "it", "he", and "she" in this case, it seems fairly clear that the "it" referred to in the trailer and in the opening to G.U.+ is the same as the as-yet-unidentified "she" in the opening scene of CELL. (When "it" and "彼女" are given identical furigana, I tend to suspect there's a reason, plus of course the fact that the first thing "she" sees upon being "born" into The World is TriEdge PKing someone.)

If there's a possibility of it not being Tri Edge, then who could it perhaps be?
