I personally think it is two people in the real world controlling one character. I forget the episode but in .hack//Sign three girls do the same thing so they can level up faster...

Umm. Actually it wasn't, It was a Long Arm that resembles Gardenia, not Gardenia herself.

I think it was on this website, but where ever, it said
'Sakubo has had a previous encounter with Tri-Edge.'
Could that encounter with Tri-Edge have changed her personality?

 well, there's something i don't think we've thought about!

it could be true. she could be like one way one minute as her old self, but her new self is shown when they bring up a certain topic.

but since sakubo is two different people, then it would still relate to it. just change old self and new self to saku and bo.

*appluase*nice theory yuna66

In the OVA they never mentioned her name, but in fact that is Gardenia.

This was approved and confirmed by Bandai.

It is only mentioned there. Unless mentioned somewhere else, then it stands to reason that this is accurate.

What if they are two different character accounts who always play 'the world' together? like..maybe in real life, they're twins but their parents got a divorce and one of them went with the father to america? >_>

It can be Gardenia because of the power of logic! Oh MAH GAWD!

The episode with the Gardenia-lookalike was a flashback that took place previous to Sign. The three girls that played the character retired from the game permanently, which wouldn't of mattered anyway since their character was permanently frozen. But look! Gardenia is perfectly A-Okay in the .hack games, which took place after the Gardenia-clone in question was rendered permanently unusable. Un-freaking-believable.

Whoever wrote the text on that card was insufficiently familiar with the details of the series. I have absolute proof that Mimika and Gardenia were not the same person:
In the 'past' segments of Intermezzo, Mimika was played by three girls in their last year of high school. That was in March 2008, and they all graduated. In late 2010, Gardenia is in high school. Therefore, Gardenia cannot possibly be one (or more) of the players of Mimika. QED.

mayb its an upgrade 2 the phase theory
the one where when the phase and the vessel never coexist
either it's skeith, or haseo
wen one is there the other literally duz not exist
mayb Sakubo's vessel didn't finish the process
so instead of it giving way from the vessel to the phase
the only thing that happens is that the phases mind passess through
so Bo is the actualy person
and Saku is Gorre

That stands to reason as sufficient evidence to disprove this. Decipher has made mistakes in the card game, mainly with classes. It really throws me for a loop when Bandai approves Decipher's mistakes.

The theory is still entertainable, but not very likely.

But who is Mimika. Enlighten me.
