What's pretty about this "haibote" world?

Watashi wo, DAATAA DORAIN wo suru no yo!
Data Drain me!

Dame... damedayo, Haseo-Oniichan.
No...no, Haseo-Oniichan.

In any case, I'm wondering about the third line there in particular. It's a line of somebody asking to be data drained. This seems to imply that Haseo will gain this ability.

Those were the bits I left out of my original translation because I couldn't make out all those voices at once. Recently, I tried again, and got (I think) all of them, but lost it when my computer crashed. I'll probably try to redo it soon.

For now, here's my take on those:

The -te hoshii construction is used to express what one wants someone else to do. Also, the particle wo here indicates that watashi is the object of the verb. This would be "I want you to really see me."
Kono haibote sekai no koto, doko wa kirei datte iudaro?
What's pretty about this "haibote" world?
It's haribote, which literally means "papier-mache", but I believe carries the connotation of "patched together". I don't yet have an elegant translation of this one.
Watashi wo, DAATAA DORAIN wo suru no yo!
Data Drain me!
This one looks good to me. I'll just add that the voice sounded like it might be Pai's.
Dame... damedayo, Haseo-Oniichan.
No...no, Haseo-Oniichan.
No objections here.

The one I found most interesting, which I can't quite make out the beginning of, was this, which sounded like it was probably Endrance speaking:
(something) na tatakai wa, kanojo ga taikutsu shite shimau
"(some sort of) fight will bore her."

This is very interesting indeed...

It does seem in Endrance's character to talk about fighting, but who is this 'her'? Is it the cat on his shoulder? Or is it someone separate? I'd also like to know who he is talking to and it what situation, but we may not know that for a long time.

So who do you think said these comments, the 'Oniichan' comment sounded like it may have been Atoli, in my opinion, though the use of Oniichan leads me to question this, unless Oniichan can be used to describe friends.

So who was it that said "I want you to really see me" and "what's pretty about this papier-mache(patched-up) World?"

not quite.....i would think if anything, whoever said it would be wanting to sacrifice themselve's for someone else.

and you know that that translated endrance quote is about to make the elk coming back as endrance thread a goldmine fo theorie's.....

theorie's are good

The one who said Haseo-Oniichan was Atoli. Oniichan can be used to describe affection for the person. Usaly girls call them that if they really like the person. On the data drain one it sounded like Haseo to me. Its so hard Watashii and Haseo sound alike T_T

That isn't the case, whether or not this character is Pai, it seems much more likely that she is asking Tri-Edge or some similar AI to Data-Drain her.

If Haseo could use Data Drain, I'm sure we would know by now.

My fault for not paying attention. I should've caught this myself.

Without actually knowing what "Haribote" means, I was thinking "What's so pretty about this fake world?".

It's funny how such a long sentence becomes a couple of words...

Depending on context, it could be "No... you can't, Haseo-oniichan" or "No... it doesn't work, Haseo-oniichan", or a few other things. Oh well.

It sounds interesting, I couldn't catch the first word, still. It kinda sounds like she's refering to herself with "kanojo". A really wierd use of the word, but I think it's possible.
SnowManZero wrote:not quite.....i would think if anything, whoever said it would be wanting to sacrifice themselve's for someone else.
Although it's possible, it doesn't sound like it.

Haseo has some sort of connection with Skeith, as far as we know. It doesn't seem unlikely that Haseo also gains access to the Data Drain skill Skeith has.

"Watashi wo, DAATAA DORAIN wo suru no yo!" was NOT said by Haseo.

I'm thinking it must be watashi wo, because if she said Haseo, there wouldn't be a particle to direct the Data Drain to. Otherwise wouldn't it just be like "Haseo! Use Data Drain!" instead of "Use Data Drain on me!"

Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not exactly the best person to consult on Japanese. >_<

And I'm too lazy to go in the trailer and compare voices to try to see who actually said that...

If it was "Haseo" rather than "Watashi wo", then it's still quite fine grammatically. I'm pretty sure I heard "Watashi wo" though.

It's "Watashi wo". Pronounced "Watashi o", but I don't think that makes too much of a difference. I just went and listened to it again.
