The dothackers in the new anime

Actually there may be a chance Balmung could appear in the new anime. If you all remember at the end of the dot hack mangas Balmung got data drained by a kite like charather who Balmung said was rapped in an azure flame. If that was Tri-Edge then Balmung is comatose, so unless Balmung survived he could make a cameo.

Its not gunna happen. Remember CC Corp couldn't revive characters so obviously Balmung, Tsukasa, and Albiero, who AREN'T written into the games programming cannot re appear, unless they make a new avatar which is also minimal!

It's unknown if that's actually part of the storyline or if it was just a teaser.

it can't happen, Balmungs character data would have been destroyed. regardless if he was comatose or not, his character data wouldn't be able to be transfered to the world R:2 anyways since he isn't embedded into the system

Well, the thing that the people who aren't missing that the anime's about G.U. are missing is that there's a name for anomalous data that shouldn't be around after the rebuild. That might mean there's a lot of it. Also, the terminal disc and Tri-edge pretty much guarentees it ties together on some level (though admittedly probably not in the anime). I for one would like to see some "new" characters of old players, even if they leave it openended as to whether or not they actually are the same person, and even if it's only a 20-second "Balmung-style" thing....

Well if Tri-Edge is Kite, he could appear. Cause I don't see how you can make a new charather out of a old one.

couldn't agree more.

i mean rumor's of this stuff would get around, right? it would be hard to see any of the old dothacker's from the anime or game's wouldn't want to continue playing the game, and when they hear these rumor's what are they going to do?

They did say that they were using the references of .Hack//Dusk and .Hack//Sign. So yeah but sometimes things can be exagerated.

maybe kite and the others just make new characters, and try to make them look as similar to their old characters as possible, so with tri-edge and kite, it could turn out to be a kind of "good twin, evil twin" thing,

That could be possible, I mean Kite and the other .Hackers know the dangers that exists in The World. They wouldn't just forget that, and if they did then the wierd coma cases are bound to make them remember.

how could they forget?

i reckon that the dot hacker's will show up in a new form and that the whole thing with kite/tri-edge could happen but i'd rather see a different avatar of kite IRL meeting up with tri-edge

that would be something which i think alot of peope would want to see.

You know what SnowManZero, you could be right! We may not see the .hackers as they were in the old games, but with new avatars. Just because their avatars are gone doesn't mean they're dead in the real world.

Sora reappearing with a new character is a possibility I suppose, but I'm still thinking Orca or Balmung could appear, since they were apparently data drained by Tri-Edge. Though with the server reset and their characters not being able to be loaded, it makes me wonder if Balmung or anyone from the old version who was data drained by Tri-edge were simply lost.
Let's hope though that isn't the case and hope for a nice cameo appearance :3

Just to warn you Tsugasa-kun is going to yell at you. We're not positive if Balmung was really data drained by Tri-Edge. That could have been there to get everyone to know that Bandai was making GU. However if it was a foreshadow for GU and Balmung was data drained..... We can only hope Balmung is okay.
