GU!!
GU!!
Wow. It's been awhile since I was logged in here, back when we were only speculating about GU.
First off; Props to CC2, for finally giving the .hack games what they needed most, a makeover--- Not that Im agianst the gfx of .hack//infection-quarantine, but this new style does alot more justice to an anime style game.
Second;
Some questions. I was watching the trailers- from what it seems, you can change weapons quickly, Now I know that the battle system is kinda hush-hush still atm, except in japan where the game might have been playable? My question is that, if we're able to change weapons like that, are we able to combo from one weapon to a 2nd? to a 3rd? Cause that would just make me happy in the pants XD!
Also, I can kinda figure this out for myself and what-not. But- in my PSM I got the other day, on the big releases for febuary, "2/1: .hack//GU". Now this has extremely confused. I know at E3 2K5, they said GU was about 60% done. At TGS was it done? Im wondering because, PSM really only talk about games comming out in the US. is 2/1 the US launch date for this game? Also curious because, Gamefly, which is where i get all my games from, doesnt have it available for pre-rent, something they do with alot of games.
I had another question, but after typing all the its slipped my mind. :/

You can switch weapons like that because Haseo, who is believed to be the playable character, is a multi-weapon. Bunch of diffrent classess packed into one. The release date is still unknown but EB Games says 2/1, some magazine says Spring, and some other magazine says Summer. So we're really not sure yet.

Well, for now Im going with my PSM, they havent been wrong yet, and they know the people in-the-know. Lol.
Haseo, is the hero in GU. And I got that he was multi weapon. Maybe I didnt make it clear or anything. Is it possible(since he can change weapons on the fly), to combo the weapons? like..
Sword uppercut thinger + elemental twister
Something like that.
Also, I remember my 3rd question.
On the site, it reads that gamespot said GU stands for 'grow up", But after seeing differant trailers, they all say "Guilty Universe". Which is it?

Prepare to be amazed when your magazine's predition comes out horribly wrong!
The release date is unknown, but it is believed that GU will be released in America during the Autumn period, no earlier than that.
While he can switch between three different types of weapon, it seems unlikely that Multi-Weapons can combine the abilities of more than one, that would simply be too powerful.
GU does stand for 'Grow Up', however, Project .hack have revealed that it has twelve separate meanings within the game. A number of possible interpretations have been revealed in the previous trailers, including 'Guilty Universe', 'Geek's Utopia', and 'Guardian of Ubiquitos'.

I fubar'd.
When I meant
"sword Uppercut + Elemental twister" I mean, as to hit the person upwards witht he sword, causing them to float(-_^), and then switch to twin blade weapon, and proform staccatto or something. XP Sorry if that wasnt clear.(Like what he does in this trailer http://www.dothackers.net/media/%5Bwww. ... guHigh.wmv(about 2:57~59 seconds into it). Sorry if I didnt make that clear XD
And thanks for the info on 'GU'

maybe it'll be like infection-quarantine, you can do a combo, access the menu, which pauses the combat, switch to a new weapon, and do a new combo right away...
or maybe pressing like, one of the trigger buttons switches the weapon, so you can start a combo and then switch your weapon mid-combo, and resume your pwnage...

Its been proven that GU stands for Grow Up, thats really the only phrase you need to be aquinted with. The others have been mention countless on this board so no need for posting anymore yet again.Umbra wrote:GU does stand for 'Grow Up', however, Project .hack have revealed that it has twelve separate meanings within the game. Devil May Cry 3 anyone? Same concept they used. Would love to see it in GU.Kaoshima wrote:or maybe pressing like, one of the trigger buttons switches the weapon, so you can start a combo and then switch your weapon mid-combo, and resume your pwnage...
By pressing the L2 or R2 shoulder buttons (depending on if you wanted to switch guns [L2] or swords [R2]), your weapons were instantly switched.
