Speculation on how .hack//GU will implement the dataflag

I think it might unlock some bonus backgrounds or music for your desktop.

It could determine TriEdges level, or some referances to the game or something small like that.

Could be something like weapons and armour from the old version of the world though. Seeing as everything was reset, these items would be only available through the data flag.

...Or, it could be something simple. Say, perhaps, the weapons of the .hackers in cutscenes being the same ones you used (unlike the beginner weapons that always showed up in the first 4 games).

Well I dought its an item or stuff for you desktop because its not suppose to appear right at the start. . .The only thing I could guess at is just a chain of events that lead to something

You're saying it'd convert Kite's stats to be Tri-Edge's?
That'd be boring, my stats for Kite aren't that amazing. I got to level 99 yet I have him equipped with his starting armor and weapon for fun and I never used power up items so in effect my Kite is not that strong.

Well then that sucks for you, but on the other hand, think of it this way: Custom boss!!!!

On the Tri-edge stat conversion thing: Couldn't someone just create a new game (meaning Kite is low level), and then transfer that data?

Maybe it will work on an opposing stat system? You know, like Tri-Edge's stats will start all at 99, and depending on how strong you got your Kite, his stats would be lowered by, say, half of what yours were, or something like that?

The bonuses are from the "Data Flags" which means a saved beaten game file so no, you couldn't make Kite low level and convert.

But if it's the case Tri-Edge's stats are Kite's.. then by gosh I'd level Kite up as much as I could with my power ups and save a file to another memory card just for fun. Not saying Tri-Edge is Kite, we don't know so dunno why we're thinking elike this.

If Tri-Edge is a boss, he better be good. Same for other bosses. Every boss in the past games was easy aside from when you were starting out. Heck, only real trouble I recall having was Skieth the first time and that dungeon Mia has you go to alone with all the mimic like chest Monsters.

hahha parady mode. i think it will just give us an event that really doesnt do much. youll probably get like a item to increase your attack, defence, or your sp. but it be by alot.
