heh, speaking of gameplay, i rewatched the latest trailer...
i just noticed that who ever was playing the game for the gameplay section of the trailer must've been cheating, cause they're attacking some large monster and everyone in his party is on 1 HP heheh
oh and after consecutive hits, the tension bar increases and when its at 100% capacity, it says "Push Square Button!" i suppose its like a "boost" thing.. but i'm still interested in what it does/looks like
Hmm...maybe a form of combo system? The longer you fight for, the higher the tension, once it reaches maximum level, you push the square button.
When that happens, you execute a combo? Alternately, like you said, it could be a power-up ability? I've never played Tales of Symphonia but its said that the combat system is similar...
Do you guys remember the one part in the gameplay where everything went slow except for the one monster and Haseo. In this part, Haseo does a whole bunch of spiffy moves and beats up the monster. I'm betting, but we can't be sure, that this is what the tension thing does.
So you get hits to power up the tension, then, once its fully charged you press square and it does this special move in the middle of the air while the rest of time slows down. It seems pretty cool to me!
It's like a Unison Attack form Tales of Symphonia: giant smack-down but no SP cost! Actually makes sense since Bandai and Namco just teamed up on G.U. (Namco makes the Tales series)
I'm with everyone else here. It's one of the new features of the World ^.^ wouldn't it be awesome if monsters could have Tension Bars? O_o no more button mashing XD
It may be something as simple (or complicated rather) as a .hack version of "Limit Break."
Or, it may be a "Berserk" mode...all stats go up for a short amount of time allowing the person to deal more damage and take less damage.
The other theory, this one being someone else's that I read in another thread, was that the tension bar lead to the Phase transformations....i.e. Haseo into Skeith.
Although the above theories I like more, my personal theory is that it allows you to pull off a few combos...as said.
i still dont agree with the idea that Tri-edge DD'd Haseo making him go back to lvl 1 etc etc...
Sure its Vol 1. Resurrection but
"Today he will return.... to the stage of that tragedy."
To me, that's saying he's going to re-live his past... probably within his mind, who knows...
"The "Skill Trigger" special attack allows players to deal significant amounts of damage to enemies. When the "R1" icon appears above Haseo's head, the player must press the circle, x, triangle, and square buttons to initiate select skills; however, there is a limited amount of time in which to perform them." ~dothacker's homepage
