Some of these ideas have already been debunked in this thread:
VeshWolfe wrote:-this new game will be a report of LINK for the PS3, which might explain why we never got coverage here

-this new game is a redo of the previous .hack games for the PS3
Not possible if:
Kuukai wrote:It takes place in 2025 and is part of the real .hack timeline.
Keyaki wrote:2)Definitely not. There's absolutely no reason. Besides, this new game is for the project //Link is involved in which is .Hack//3rd Season. Not GU which is .Hack Conglomerate. Not every game needs a remake and .Hack is definitely one of them.
"Conglomerate" has nothing to do with anything. XXXX, a remake, was marked "Conglomerate" right? That's because:
Kuukai wrote:That has nothing to do with what season it is, just the legal affiliation of the companies making it.
But regardless, it can't be a remake because it takes place in 2025.
VeshWolfe wrote:What I am quite confident in is that what we are being shown IS Haseo's PC, or rather should be based upon previous visual tendencies present in the overall series.
I wouldn't be confident in that at all. It's only happened a million times.
VeshWolfe wrote:On that note, I seriously hope this game does not continue with the LINK time traveling b.s., because lets face it all LINK amounted to was a fan service game/series.
Link had a very good story and it continues in the movie.

I don't think they said PS3, but the in-game screenshots don't look like Vita really...

CC2 leaked some info about the game (twice then recanted) and they both mentioned a hybrid game with the release of the movie on Blu-ray... which one can assume that it is being developed for the PS3 - a la the only console using Blu-ray. Whether or not this is true anymore (it was at some point) is up in the air - we'll know soon though! .hack//Link didn't sell well in Japan, so I think they are going to steer clear of the Vita --- hopefully~

It didn't???? How? I thought out of everyone else the Japanese fanbase would be the most excited. There were lines half a mile outside of the stores when Rebirth came out.

This is personal interpretation but understand It can be any combination of reasons. Age of the series, console, character design, competition, audience, silly concept that scares away two thirds of the fan base all ready taken out by a carefree preview story. Please take a pick. You can compare it to the previous games. Here are the charts.

Well it's possible the original article was an honest mistake with Tekken and the subsequent Facebook reposting was due to it randomly being so close to the truth the guy handling the Facebook stuff thought it was an actual announcement.
Keyaki wrote:It didn't???? How? I thought out of everyone else the Japanese fanbase would be the most excited. There were lines half a mile outside of the stores when Rebirth came out.
Wait... what? No there weren't. .hack has never been insanely popular. As you can see above, no .hack game sold better than Infection: people saw the three names on the cover and didn't realize it would go on forever. And Rebirth actually sold worse than either of its sequels. .hack//Link had decent representation in stores with displays and stuff, I was there when it launched, but yeah the sales numbers were slightly under those of the other games. For the first four games the sales numbers went down, but as G.U. went on more and more people started playing again. Unfortunately Link didn't capture any of this momentum because it came out so much later and on a totally different system. The next-gen game may have the same problem. Still, 140,000 copies of Link is about 12 million dollars, probably worth the effort.

Well, Famitsu finally decided to share better quality screens for the new .hack game. The actual article appears to touch a little on the movie and the game along with the interview with the president from before I think. According to Andriasang, the game takes place in a different "The World" from Force Era. I wonder what the deal with that is?

Yeah umm. Link still cost $72 from PlayAsia and that is after the price drop from $130. Then there were also Zetti Houi Pack and the DVD versions that were released. If it were not on PSP the best or sold through alternative retailers then god know how much it would be. The $60 dollar standard is what an indivudial recieved for the game alone but not for what they were selling, since the DVD versions were only version sold for the first few weeks.
As for the next series The World could be on another server, revision or for a different platform similar to Phantasy Star Online.
However, I think a more interesting question is what will happen to Aura. Come on every one speak up, we are taking all bets.

You know that PlayAsia bumps up the prices, right? Also, I have never seen LINK go for $130. I will admit, that the Zetti Houi Pack did slip my mind, but even then it wouldn't account for such a large amount of income. You also fail to acknowledge that retailers buy these items in bulk, and therefore at much lower prices. So even if LINK did go for $85 at a normal retailer in Japan, CC2 wouldn't see much of that. For every game CC2 makes, Bandai Namco takes their cut, the store which sells the game takes their cut, and finally CC2 gets their piece of the revenue. Though, as simply a game developer (and not publisher) they most likely get paid right up-front by Bandai to develop the game, so they do not really get affected by the sales (except of course when they want to develop another title).

BUT, that is all off topic, and just me being a jerk about numbers. :p

On topic though...

What do you mean by 'The World could be on another server'? They have already stated through the trailers that the movie will take place in the 4th version of "The World", and from the sounds of it CC may not even be in the picture anymore (I know they have mentioned another company which makes the FMDs).

I do find Aura's new look to be interesting. She is finally grown up! Although, as to what her roll will be, what state she is in, etc... there is not enough information to make any calls yet, in my opinion.

Seeing that she was reborn after //Link she quickly grew back up again (Sheesh, seems like AIs grow up fast. Morganna would be so proud :3)

She's still the Ultimate AI, surely but whether she takes up the mantle of "Goddess of the Internet" again, I doubt it.

You didn't?
http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B002YQ3YFG/

Games cost a lot more in Japan. And if that wasn't enough, money costs a lot more in Japan. And in the case of latter-era PSP games, almost everything imaginable had some sort of special edition to ratchet up revenue and discourage piracy.

The sales numbers solidified before the discounted "The Best" version of the game. "The Best" generally requires a large number of sales over 100,000 in order to happen.

Where did anyone say that discs cost nothing to print and CC2 made $14 million dollars?

The new game takes place in a different version of The World from the movie, although Force Era is still running. That means it's possible it's a new version, R:X, R:2, or maybe even the Black Box as seen by Lara.

Aura doesn't have powers really, after what happened in Link, and even if she did there's still an army of her clones.

Force Era? Black Box...as in the Harald System?

Force Era is the setting of the movie, the 4th version of The World. Black Box as in the actual Epitaph world Lara entered that existed within Fragment. Her voice bleeds over into Fragment and ends up inspiring Balmung and W.B. Yeats.

The Sophia System was created by using the remains of the Akashic Records to gather up Aura's fragments and mass produce her.

Personally I wanted to put this on the first page, it's only in every article about this, but everyone in the American fandom is so squeamish about spoilers and no one's watched my video...
