Hello! I'm a little new here, but I saw that this thread was made a little while ago, and I thought that it would be very handy since I have the imported version of .hack//Link headed my way. So I was just wondering how the status of this walkthrough and FAQ was going, since it would be very useful for when the game comes in =) And if there isn't much status (since I know life can get pretty hectic ^^;;), though I don't know a whole lot of Japanese, I'd be more then willing to try and help out as best I can once my copy does get in ^^ Good luck on the walkthrough!

Can i ask a question here?

When we use Rengeki, sometimes we need to press either triangle, circle, square and/or x. Does anything affect the amount or those buttons appear? Because sometimes there isn't any buttons came out O_o

Srry newbie here... and idk how to read japanese when there's tutorial...

The frequency of the Hearts is tied in and impacts their confidence as far as I've noticed, the more you use them, the more frequent they show up. After a point they'll show up at random since, you don't really need them lol.

Just spam all the buttons during a Rengeki and you won't miss a dot.

New note that i recently discovered. The titles that you unlock through game play and that one strange option in the character customization shop inside the grand Whale can sometimes give you special enhancements and boosts.

Current advantages and the tags that go with them:
Twilight Shine = Auto Mode during Cross Rengeki clock. This means you don't have to press triangle any more when the dial begins to swing.

Yes expensive shits aren't they? The first one makes it so you don't have to press L to use unison combo (e.g launching in the air), the second builds up the rengeki gauge (e.g. pressing circle on the scale) but makes it impossible to miss/cancel, and the third one handles the rengeki clock as you'd stated. You can turn them off or on via the option menus. Though you might have been talking about titles only which have some of those effect... If so my bad and this is just something similar.

I'm not so sure about that second item. I've purchased it and i can still miss and cancel. Also i don't think i'd want the first one. I've found a lot of handy combos by activating late unisons and causing your partner to still attack and give you free range. and yeah they are expensive as all hell

but yes what i'm talking about is the customization titles seeming to unlock effects as well.

Will this guide include a script for the plot too? Also translated menu selections would be nice too.

It doesn't actually matter affection-wise as far as I can tell, the different responses just change what you find out about the character. The only thing that you can do in email to change affection is attach grunties. On one hand this removes one element of the gameplay, but on the other hand I kinda like it since it allows you to pursue topics you might have otherwise been worried about making them angry with...

Quick question. Is there a way to effectively perform combos at a greater speed? Simply attacking and then jumping back to avoid enemy attacks, then repeating, isn't cutting it on my part. It just makes the battle boring and tedious to me.

There's two methods you can learn.

Method 1. Double dash attacks, if you hit enough it causes stun and you can repeat.

Method 2. Learning to attack in chained combos that include dodging, square button skills, and repeated attack are much harder. my goals are to land 99 hit combos as much as possible, especially against bosses.

if anyone's got questions feel free to ask me or PM me. I've pretty much broke this game down as much as I could outside of the language barrier. combo hits, juggles, locks, loops. all that good jazz.

I have a question, are the link mode monsters set at a specific level?
If so, what would be a good level to give those a try to unlock the characters associated with them?

I cleared the game a couple of days ago and been doing the side events since... Problem is that I don't have anymore to do... There are a lot left in the Link era, one in the normal era (I think it's the event where you get Helba.). The other chars I'm missing are Ovan and Kite (Sora). Anyway, there aren't any side events I can do at the moment yet there are al ot left... Anyone know how I unlock those?

Like Shugo it's Kite's PC data but a new player, thought to be a girl named Sora. Iirc we know the age is 14 or so, too. Like the other Kites, her Cross Rengeki gathers a ton of Virus Cores.

Sora isn't quite canon for the game, but a teaser of what's to come two years after Quantum in 2024, which Matsuyama says is the end of the .hack timeline.
