Obama's school Speech Under Fire.

Post by _Tri-edge_ »

I just recently read this article today, describing the events circling around the controversy of Obama's address to the American children at school this Tuesday. I was pretty shocked at the different reactions this particular speech generated across the country. Many parents and school officals are outraged at the fact that Obama plans to speak to their kids encouraging them to stay in school, and work hard towards their goals. Many are assuming Obama's doing this in order to push his political opinions even further, and some have even gone as far as saying "an excuse for brainwashing". So what are your thoughts portraying to this conflict of Obama's school speech?

No matter what the President does during this Presidency, conservative voices are going to portray it as being some kind of sinister effort to take the country into his iron grip and deceive people as part of a larger plot to revolutionize the United States into a socialist nation. Not a day will pass when Obama is not called a socialist and vilified by at least one popular television or radio personality, and this is no exception.

The plan has always been for the President to give a speech to the nation's schoolchildren who will be going back to school and encourage them to succeed and work hard. Unfortunately, certain people took this event and spun it into a political controversy and started screaming old Cold War and anti-state paranoia rhetoric while murmuring "Big Brother" to each other. The controversy was first over the President speaking to the children, which they said was "unprecedented" and had "never been done before by any other President." Once people who knew better started spreading the word that George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan had done exactly the same thing, the controversy then became about a specific question in what can only be described as busy-work released by the Dept. of Education which read "Write a letter to yourself about how you can help the President." This, by itself, may seem a little bit odd given that you're already paranoid about the government brainwashing your children into putting their full faith and trust in the State, but given the context, which was the President talking about his goals to make America more competitive as a nation and to reduce the dropout rate for high schoolers, the question is much more benign.

Nevertheless the controversy is and has always been a stupid, petty attempt by partisan hacks to attack the President and pollute the public discussion with misinformation and fear-mongering to incite distrust in the current administration and score cheap political points with ignorant independents and reinforce their support from their base. Not only does this have much to do about nothing, but it's become so ridiculously controversial that many parents are keeping their children home so that they don't have to be "indoctrinated" by the President's speech, which they are not obligated to watch anyway.

Many of these people tend to forget Ronald Reagan's long-winded tangent about the virtues of tax cuts and deregulation in domestic markets when he gave his speech to school children. Ironically he is the only President who has actually injected political views and talking points into his broadcasted address to children going back to class.

The transcript of the speech he is going to give was released today and can be found in its entirety HERE.

So join responsible conservative parents on the 8th by keeping your kids from going to school so that they don't have to be indoctrinated by the President with his socialist ideals of kids staying in school and working hard to succeed.

I leave you with this:

FLAWLESS VICTORY!!!!

But seriously you should always try to look outside events that happen in the media to try to understand it better. I remember once I asked S1lentOp about the NAFTA and it connecting all the countries into one. And he gave me answer I knew was right. Ever since then I seriously ask what would S1lentOp think.
