Yes, there's an english dub. ~10 episodes of the first season have been released in english so far, though I suggest avoiding them if you care for your ears.
Re: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
I'm watching this anime too... never thought that what people said about it was true...
It must be one of the greatest drama/horror stories of the century, I've never saw such a terrifying and, at the same time, fascinating plot, full of all kind of things. It's really worth watching.
But I still can't believe all the deaths that have happened in Japan, supposedly because of this anime, do anyone believe there's really a connection?

No, just coincidences.Shirosaki wrote:But I still can't believe all the deaths that have happened in Japan, supposedly because of this anime, do anyone believe there's really a connection?
And "all" the deaths? I've only heard about that one with the girl who killed her dad with an axe.
Re: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
There were two similar crimes following this one, none of them resulted in death. In one of them a student tried to kill his father with an axe and in the other a student tried to kill his classmate using a big knife, during a fight. So yes, there wasn't any more deaths...Mellow Grunty wrote:No, just coincidences.Shirosaki wrote:But I still can't believe all the deaths that have happened in Japan, supposedly because of this anime, do anyone believe there's really a connection?

This is a really rare well done anime as far as story/character developing goes like with Elfen Lied.

Re: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Even though regardless of the fact that the characters were murdered by the horrible voice acting, I am still going to be picking all of it up. I can't call myself a anime otaku or a collector for that matter, if I forsake an anime and not buy it because of horrible voice acting every-time.
BUt, So far, I am happy with the second season. What, aren't they up to like episode 16?

UG OMG!
I don't think I could handle this anime. What I've seen of it. It's tooo bloody and gorrey and just deranged. (LOL Me, a huge Saw movie fan saying this......) >>;
But anyway, yeah... The english dub will be horrible. Well, probably nto HORRIBLE but they won't do the Laughing bits any kind of good. I like the laughing bits.

My friend introduced me to this anime when she told me it was her favorite anime, and now it's mine XD
It's so crazy and brutal. <3
Sadly, I'm only on episode 15, because I'm bad at watching anime xD;

I actually heard the Eng. dub was really good, and fits really well, but I guess it depends on the person.Minato wrote: But anyway, yeah... The english dub will be horrible. Well, probably nto HORRIBLE but they won't do the Laughing bits any kind of good. I like the laughing bits.

Re: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
It's not, the first volume is totally horrible. Keiichi's voice is OKAY I guess, Rena's voice is like a mix of Atoli's and Bo's english voices + fail, Mion's okay too, Rika sounds WAY too old and Satoko... Don't recall, probably horrible as well.Arukado wrote:I actually heard the Eng. dub was really good, and fits really well, but I guess it depends on the person.
Apparently the voices became a LITTLE better in volume two, but all the other new characters that appeared in the second volume had horrible voices as well.
tl;dr: Watch jap with english subs.

Re: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
I just finished watching it up to episode 26 (meaning, i have yet to start with Higurashi Kai), and what i have to say it's....wow...just wow. It seems so confusing at first, and heck, just watching the Question Arcs it's like playing .Hack//G.U. Vol. 3 without even knowing what Skeith is (you won't get a thing and if you do it'll be all wrong XD), but once you move to the Answer Arcs...everything really goes so clear, and you get to realize what the plot is all about, why everything happens the way it does, and it's just, awesome XD Such an awesome anime (one of the bests i've seen, in fact, and i've seen ALOT of anime from the most popular to the one you've never heard of), though you won't realize that until you're getting annoyed by something that seems like some screwed Silent Hill-like story, and when you do...you'll really love it. At least, i did XD And i can't believe how i used to hate Rena so much and Rika was too annoying for me, yet right now they're most likely my fav. characters o-o
There is no use moving back, you can't trace back your path

Re: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Although the english version is bad i still wanted to get it however it was ruined when geneon discontinued on their projects last year. I love the anime though especially Rika~Ni Pah! The anime disturbed me at first but it was too addicting O.O although comedy was awesome such as zombie tag. I love their punishment game.

Re: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Yes, Geneon went out of business. Sad to say. Meaning only 3 volumes of Higurashi will be released in English. All of the anime Geneon was working on, including the English Dub of Shakugan no Shana Second, will be laid to rest. Geneon did the dub for the first Shana series as well, but thank god they finished it before disaster struck their company. So, many good anime's are gonna miss out on good VA's. But, thank god that Karin will stop being dubbed. The voicing was terrible.
Anyway, I finished all of Ni and Kai (Higurashi Season's One and 2) Thank God for Crunchyroll. Anyway, I just hope that Futakoi and Futakoi Alternative get a dub soon.
Anyway, that was off-Topic. this was a good show, I give Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni AND Kai 2 Thumbs way up.

Re: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
FYI, "ni" is part of the actual title, it's not an additional word like "kai," (which means answer/solution) it sounds retarded to use it when mentioning the first season, just say "Higurashi," "When They Cry 1" or "season one" or something.DotHack-Haseo wrote:Anyway, I finished all of Ni and Kai
For the good of my extreme fangirlism, plz.
Also,
honestly not that worried about that, unless all of Geneon's other dubs were more than ten times better than their Higurashi dub.DotHack-Haseo wrote:So, many good anime's are gonna miss out on good VA's.
Besides, if they had any actually good voice actors, those people could just run over to some other anime dubbing company.

Re: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
actually, higurashi is translated into evening cicadas. the title of the first series is,"when the evening cicadas cry.." which is perfectly normal if you notice the fact that at at the point in a continued ep when everyone dies.. or is about to die.. the evening cicadas always seem to be making a noise..Mellow Grunty wrote:FYI, "ni" is part of the actual title, it's not an additional word like "kai," (which means answer/solution) it sounds retarded to use it when mentioning the first season, just say "Higurashi," "When They Cry 1" or "season one" or something.DotHack-Haseo wrote:Anyway, I finished all of Ni and Kai

Re: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
... And the title for the second season means "When the Cicadas Cry Solution" (and both's official english names are actually When They Cry and When They Cry 2) but what does that have to do with anything?nobodyknows wrote:actually, higurashi is translated into evening cicadas. the title of the first series is,"when the evening cicadas cry.." which is perfectly normal if you notice the fact that at at the point in a continued ep when everyone dies.. or is about to die.. the evening cicadas always seem to be making a noise..
It's just logical to call the first season by the series' name (which should be either Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, When they Cry or just Higurashi, in this case) and then any other additional seasons by number or other name.
Oh and you'll have to be a retard to not notice the cicada cries in the actual anime, and they don't only cry when people are about to die, they cry nearly ALL THE TIME.
