Re: Armored Core
ARMORED COOOOOOOREEEEEE(oh yes I've played it >.>)
I started at master of arena. Got my friends addicted and then one of them bought AC-Project Phantasm. which was before master of arena....then after that we went through AC2 AC2-Another Age and AC3 but that's where we drop off. I'm trying to convince someone to get AC 4 though since it's out on the 360.
As for my cores I vary alot ever since the added the option for you to keep 3 different builds on hand for quick switching between AC types. But mostly I use either Humanoid or reverse joint legs. with one Tank or hover type(I switch it depending on the mission) for ridiculously heavy firepower. I once designed an AC that could take out even the most heavily armor core in about 5 shots if they hit.(that was in AC3)
My humanoid types generally carry some form of mortars because the upwards launch before they home in on a target makes it harder for missile defenses to shoot them down...I especially carry mortars on my reverse joint types in open areas I fly around all day and rain death from above with mortars and missile add on extension parts and often destroy an AC before I even need to use my gun at all.....
And yeah Nine ball was INSANE. I remember I had to build a really big powerhouse AC just to take him down since no matter what he seems to be faster than you. his only weakness is he doesn't deal with flyer's well.

I've played all AC Except that X'D I am a HUGE! Fan of Armored Core! and I get defencive when someone talks bad about it or even trys to messure it up to Gundam.
Re: Armored Core
I rented Armored Core 4 the other day after talking to Zero about the game and I played it for a few hours. Overall, I'd give it about a 5/10. It's a pretty standard mech game, but it's nothing special and it does have its problems. Graphics-wise, it looked pretty. The landscape seems pretty nice, though rather simple. The controls are kind of awkward though, but they can be changed. What bugged me the most was combat. In a typical battle there are several kinds of enemies, each of which there's an effective weapon for. The problem is that you have to constantly switch between those weapons which greatly impair your ability to take out groups of enemies quickly, not to mention it makes you a defenseless target for a short period of time and those moments add up when you're constantly being shot at. On top of that, it's a pain in the ass to fight mechs that are a lot faster than you because typically the crosshairs don't move fast enough to keep a lock on what you're shooting at. The missions were also really generic and repetitive. It got kind of boring after killing Normals for the 7th time. Although Armored Core 4 was "OK", there are much better titles. I think I'll stick to the MechWarrior series and Zone of the Enders.
Re: Armored Core
Ah the multiple enemy type problem...not an issue once you become more accustomed to the game. Shooting using the laserblade/or whatever offhand weapon you've chosen though I prefer the blade since it's infinite and you can make it launch a wave attack as for dealing with faster cores....I find flying and shooting them from above works well. course Armored Core is complicated and things like what fcs and what weapon you picked matter in that situation since different weapons work better with certain types of fcs but that's really more of an advanced thing setting it up to get maximum accuracy. Missiles also work well. I'm curious though about the new 'power armor ' feature I've heard about is in the game they've already got all kinds of parts and accessories crammed into the game. So what the hell is this new thing?!

Re: Armored Core
I could have told you Nine Breaker sucked XD You should have just gotten Nexus it's just like all the Armored cores put into to a two disk set XD Also Genobe is one bad MoFo XPZer0 wrote:I just played Nine Breaker...
And it failed. Horribly. Whenever you move, it's like the screen blurs. And the default controls are fail. Plus there are seemingly NO missions, and it's solely arena battles. :'( I can't even make myself play the game enough to see Hustler One.
Nine-ball is in Nexus I think XD
Re: Armored Core
I really like the customizing options but the controls were too difficult for me to understand (also I don't play to many mech games in the first place so I amnot used to the hard controls Go ZoE!!!!!)
Re: Armored Core
Hustler One is easy to beat in comparison to back in Master of Arena ....back then I could only do it with 2 builds one focused on launching WM-AT's and PRAYING the hit.(but I had dual WM-AT's so i certainly had enough chances....if I lived that long x.x)
and the other was flying around shelling him and hoping he died first.
Now though you can do sneaky underhanded things like overheat him till his energy drains and watch him burn to death powerless to boost or use any energy weapons to combat you while you continously blast him with high powered high heat generating weapons. Or even just launching a napalm rocket will get you started as overheating rapidly eats away at AP. So he's hardly a REAL challange like he used to be. Hell now it feels more like it's the only 'fair' fight as other AC's tend to have some flaw you can exploit whereas the 'boss' AC's are more on your own level with no real weaknesses overwhelming firepower and damn are they eager to use it.
And yes if you haven't figured it out by now...aside from mortar missiles I'm ALL about beam weapons except on my flyer..i use really annoying weapons that 'stun' the AC momentarily so I can blast it with my missile barrages. I swear these games get easier everytime they add something new.

Re: Armored Core
Yep. Everything is redone in PS2 graphics. Also check out Armored Core: Last Raven it's the last Armored Core on the PS2Zer0 wrote:MEH. I was hoping for another Hustler One related storyline. Oh well.
When you say that Nexus has remakes of the PS1 games, do you mean everything is redown in PS2 graphics? Cause if so, I'm picking it up. No doubt.
wikipedia wrote:Armored Core: Nexus takes the Armored Core 3 game engine and improves upon it in an extensive upgrade. The game is broken down into two discs, EVOLUTION and REVOLUTION. The EVOLUTION disc features all new content in which the story of Armored Core: Nexus is played out. Much like Armored Core 2: Another Age most of the game's arena battled played out in story-based missions, however a "Free Arena" is unlockable upon completion of the Evolution game's storyline. The REVOLUTION disc takes a look back at previous Armored Core titles, primarily the PlayStation era titles; Armored Core, Project Phantasma and Master of Arena. Completing missions in REVOLUTION unlock extra parts for a player's AC which are based on parts that appeared in previous AC games, including custom parts featured on the AC of Project Phatasma's main antagonist, Stinger, now available to the player for the first time ever.
