I've taken interest in it and went ant got it a while ago, but I kinda never started playing around with characters in it ^^;

You just reminded me about it, so I think I'll see what fun stuff I can get together with that and some sprites :D
MUGEN is a Doujin Game (user created game), rather than an actual game. There are many types of these types of games flying around in Japan that use current anime characters and put them in a similar game. One example is fate/stay night Guardian Heroes which uses many sprites from multiple anime shows.

Though having Kira from Death Note as one of the fighters is fun.
I'll have to google that one. I'm surprised I've never seen it.
Its on a torrent on a certain anime website which i can't produce here.

Sadly, the original programmers disappeared with some controversy...

I believe some files of his that he gave to select people were leaked (possibly the win mugen application) and that's why he's out of sight.

No. He was long out of sight before people even thought about distributing those files. Personally, I think he's dead.
Really? What makes you say that (about him being dead)?

He just dissappeared. One day he said "Okay guys, see you tommorrow :D" and signed off. And then we never saw him again. He never got on anything.

By the way, there's a whole bunch of MUGEN videos on this guy's page:

I'll be recording my own MUGEN videos soon. Kohaku is hooking me up with a Megaman MUGEN (Download link pending)
Wow...that would be great! Please post it if possible :)

And yeah...the dead thing makes sense.
