The death of WoW and SWG

Post by zaffax »

I think that it is safe to say that most mmorpg's will fall to peices upon release of Age of Conan (AOC). Upon registration for closed beta, over 100,000 applications were recieved in only the first 2 days (Easter weekend). The game is the first mmorpg targeted for the vista, utilizing its DX10 capabilities. The Game is to hit shelves in October, and visit the official site for more infor at http://www.ageofconan.com/en/index.html

WoW. 8million users. Thousands of beta testers. Hundreds of hours lost.

No, AoC may give it a short run for it's money, but WoW is a longtime champion, beating that of Elderquest and various other MMORPGs. Besides, not everybody can afford a Vista opperating system.

The fact that that link is errored doesn't convince me much either...

There's a whole slew of MMOs that might put WoW out of the game eventually. WoW is a fad that will pass once people realize how repetitive and fruitless it is.

Anyone who's played SWG knows that it needs no outside help to contribute to its downfall. Check out my haiku!

Star Wars Galaxies
A game so full of problems
Too many Jedi.

The link was errored because I accidently added an extra period to it. The link is working now though.
Edit: Here is a recent trailer (All ingame footage)ftp://ftp.funcom.com/media/Age_of_Conan ... ER720p.wmv

That's not true at all. A majority of WoW players have never touched a Warcraft game. They did come out of nowhere.
Not to mention that they really didn't work on this game for even half the time that WoW and EQ2 were in the chop shop.
Well, that doesn't necessarily matter to be honest. It could still come out to be a good game. Just because it took a team longer to make one game than another, it doesn't mean the game that took longer will be the better of the two.

Thats when you hit the max level but until then WOW is a blast and is quite fun. Wow did rewritten the rules of a MMORPG, making it possible to solo, easy to get into hard to master and the graphics are consistent throughout the game. I play both WOW and RO found that RO has a stronger class system, the problem I forsee is that they have to achieve this and is the weak point of WOW, recreate that on top of the stuff they doing now and you have a winner...
Now you need a massively good team to do this... but all MMORPGs are all the same and it has to be worth the time investment in them.
You can tell from the massive onslaught of RPGs like FFseries and DQ series per se where you do repetitive stuff 90% of the time but at least they have an ending and doesnt take away a whole year of your life.

*Yawn* no offence, but every game is the "WoW Killer" Wait, what's this? WoW is still getting more subscribers? Damn.

I play lots of MMOs, i've had alot of fun with WoW, and others, so I'm not really biased in that department, there's just to much of a fanbase, it'll probably be the longest lasting MMO ever unless Blizzard explodes.

Don't get your hopes up. Blizzard tends to WOW people more often than not.

Eight million gamers can't be wrong. -thumbs up-

Blizzard loves to keep their fans happy, hence how they kicked SE crouch in when WoW was released and its upkeeping :P.

They also know how to keep us anticipating. They know what works and how to work it well.

I've played WoW for a very long time. Most people I have met in it have either played or heard of some Blizzard games. Hence some of the slang in the game. Like, "Okay, let's just Zerg this boss." or "Adun todidos" or "My life for Aiur!...I mean Nazul."

3/4 of the people I've met in WoW have played some other Blizzard game at some other time.

And yes, development time does in fact matter. The team for WoW was huge, and there's a preview for World of Warcraft on the original Starcraft: Broodwar disc, and that came out in what? '98? It took them longer to make it because it took more thought, and is a very different MMO than other MMOs I've played. And I've played every single MMO series that's hit America.

I was a pro at UO. I conquered ShadowBane. I've played lots and lots and lots and lots of MMOs, and WoW is by far the only one that is actually different in more ways than not. It's kinda like the Wii.

Everyother MMORPG is just doing the same thing over and over and over with just enhanced stuff. WoW did something completely different alltogether. They kept players from getting bored with the game by directing a large focus on the murder and killing of other players. It works great for total dickheads like me! :D

The kind of dickhead who will hide behind a pillar with Tinhead's Chainsaw equipped and my hand on the charge button, then put a level 13 rogue in PVP in front of a party of level 20s about to do Deadmines. Once they attack the level 13, they all go PVP, and I procede to fly out of nowhere, whirlwind, kill all of them in a single blow, laugh, teabag, and hide in the bushes and wait for them to rez. And right before you get in the instance...BOOM! I fly from the sky and whirlwind you again.

Or the kind of dickhead who will force you to use your Rockethelm so you fly in the air, then cast a DoT on you so you die while flying, then make you force rez yourself before you hit the ground, so you die again.

Or the kind of dickhead who equips Tinhead's Chainsaw with sword specialization, and that extra attack trinket while using Recklessness...10K damage on 4 people 3 times in a row instantly. KILL! DOUBLE KILL! M-M-M-Monster Kill-Kill-kill!

It's fantastic! I never grow tired of it! Gwahahahahaha!
Wow, at least 90% of that is complete BS. Just goes to show that the long-winded posts aren't always the most truthful.

I'll bet you anything Maromi was referring to the absurdity of the thread topic, not the attractiveness of WoW actually falling to pieces.
