Alright, it actually makes sense if you think about it
ROOTS - He started the game so knows nothing(N00B), he's shy with people..he just got PK'd and Ovan saved him, so he follows the man around and joins his guild. Meets more people but acts lonersih since he doesn't trust them enough, more of a silent person at this point since he wants to make friends but acts cool and mysterious like the person he adores; Ovan.
Shino got owned, he turns dark, blah blah. Evil zapped lvl power hax, turns pro and thinks he can win alone and blah.
GU - At this point, he doesn't care at all for friends. He's more open and less shy since he knows how the game works. He can do it all on his own if needed, anyhow he may have had this attitude and quick remarks before but kept it in.
