So... question here. Did harald give Haseo the third form because he's an epitaph user, or because he pissed Harald off?

Just curious, as I watched the series over again and it still wasn't clear to me.

Neither. The prize for the Event is both a stat bonus and a rare weapon. Haseo gave the wrong answer, but he still completed the dungeon, so he only got half the prize.

I sorta was confused also, though the next ep showed Taihaku talking to Phyllo about Haseo and claimed that " He may have been the only one to have actually completeed that Dungeon. " But it was him that had finished first.

Considering it was called the " Forest Of Pain " was strange also. Even for a area, I had simply assumed that Herald simply infected Haseo with AIDA and drove him somewhat emo/dark ( though I think AT will bomb this again ) so I would just assume that he failed in getting the actual completetion of the Event.

Herald had said that he wouldn't gain that 'sword' and zapped him to death(lawl..terror of death), and I doubt a character is gonna start screaming from his headset unless that was actually hurting him in real life itself.

Haseo wasn't infected with AIDA. For one thing, Volume 3 shows that Haseo can fight off AIDA Infection. Secondly, if he WAS AIDA infected, we'd see black bubbles or his Avatar being forcibly awakened. He was emo/dark even BEFORE he got the upgrade, if you were paying attention. He was emo about Shino's death, not any mindrape on an AIDA's part.

It was just his character. Just like PC's will scream when their HP hits zero.

It was called "Pain" because it was a hard dungeon. Duh.

Yea, and Saburou says the Painful Forest is a Lost Ground and that Tri-Edge was sent by Harald to bring Aura back.

Characters can be wrong, and in Roots especially most often ARE.

Herald can´t be deleted by the CC corp... nor can be controled.
He is a part of the "Herlad System" (a black box that´s in the world) so he is the closest thing to a God now that Aura´s gone.
So, if god says that there is no need for Haseo to change to his second form before changing into his third then there´s no need. (and yes, Haseo used al his weapons in roots)

The reason Tri-edge data drained Haseo is simple... Haseo´s character was hacked to be at level 133. (by Herald but hacked anyway) Tri-edge cleans abnormalities in the data. (AIDAS, infected players, hacked players, ephitaps users... all are the same to him)

About the forest of pain, the event was about becoming strong ASAP... so, the job extension was the best reward posible.
Taihaku thinks that Haseo is the only one who became stronger thus the only one who cleared the event. (to Taihaku the weapon was only a prize to say "i cleared the event, i am ubber yeah")

Erm...

Tri-Edge doesn't see Epitaph Users as errors in the system, or he'd have attacked Atoli, Pi, Yata, Kuhn, etc.
