I have an Idea for an game.
And yes, I do. It's going to be long, and it will change in time. And no, it will not even made in this point in time. The existence of this game is too powerful (and awesome) to be in this point in time, even in the .Hack Universe. On to the point~ *ahem*
A Massive Online Game. And that's not even .10% of it. It's not an traditional RPG nor online game where you just only use your mouse and keyboard, and for your console, a controller.
The story:
Before us, before gods and devils, before heaven and hell, there was Infinity. In Infinity, there was no beginning, nor an end. What is Infinity? It's what makes Space. It's what makes energy. It's what's everything. With it, cycles form. It's what keeps everything moving. From that awesome indescribible soup of life lived beings were born beings that could be indefinitly what you called Gods. They were born of Infinity, and existed longer than our own universe. They were known to as the Eternal Children. With them, they originally form and created universes, to keep Infinity flowing (although Infinity can just run by itself ^^'), with the powerful life energy circulating back and forth worlds. Sometime, one Child decided to gather and team up with the myriad of Children, to create the most powerful world, combined with the works and memories of every Child there, to celebrate their works and creations. It was in that world, humans, although separate from the other myriads of living beings, lived in a universe which glorified themselves. [still-working]
In this game, Worlds of Games from Namco, Bandai, Square and Enix, Capcom, Working Designs, and nearly any other game company will be introduced in this game. However, the worlds and games will have to be filtered out so that things make sense in the game.
In this game, you don't just have to fight, you can own a farm, run a shop, be a blacksmith, gamble, hell, you can work. And if you want, you can be a bum. Earn money in multiple ways, instead of just killing things. Let Variety Rein!
The PK and Player vs. Player system will not include levels, or stats. It's all on your own skills- Kill at your own risk.
Leveling up to gain attacks and spells? Feck that. Welcome to school! Learn in school for spells and arts before going out to the wild world beyond.
Make and customize your own weapon, every tip, point, and microscopic edge.
Customize your own character, to the last hair. You can even perform Medi-Alchemy to turn beast or give them elf ears if you want.
The artwork in the game will be Anime, although you can choose if they want to be Chibi or realistic-ish.
In this game, you can't name your characters after Heroes of other games. This time, they're NPCs, and if you want you can fight them~ When you meet them in certain places and events. And don't worry about Sephiroth- He'll come in a Limited Time quest, and when Hell opens up, you can fight him there. No waiting lines, though.
I'm sick of games that take up your time. Levels only matter when you fight monsters. Treecutting? Digging? DRR Like stuff? Engage in Mini games, Ladies and Gents.
The battle system will be a real time, combo racking, non-time freezing system. Me not get into that yet. Well, more like never.

I like your idea there but i got two things to say, one: watch what all you say, someone may steal your idea before you can get it out there; and two: good luck getting the rights from those companies to use likenesses.
I've got an mmorpg idea of my own that is similar to yours. Especially the "anime style" character designs. I'm trying to think up all the possible looks before i try to get the idea made though so i wont be telling you my idea. Kinda spooky that ur idea has so much in common with mine except that the stories are completely different.
as for your thought on this game not being able to be made any time soon, with the right resources you actually COULD make that game by 2009 if a good company decided to work on it. but to get them interested in the idea u'd probly need to think out alot more stuff like the leveling system, armors, weps, outfits, dialog, player interactment (ways of trade and such), think up a few pre-launch quest ideas (sorta like that Sephiroth one), player actions (commands and stuff to make the character perform emotes and stuff such as "/sit" or "/smug", aswell as HOW the player controls the character), and since your game seems to sound like a VERY big place i'd suggest some forms of transportations (u'll want to throw original ideas in that too, and no that doesn't mean a chocobo mounted with rocket launchers)
That being said, Good luck on your game idea!

I don't want to sound pessimistic, but that idea is way too unrealistic.
From the scope to the licensing, it just wouldn't be possible.
I'd like to hear your ideas for the actual fighting-system though.
You've only said it wouldn't just be using the keyboard/controller and it'd be skill-based rather than stat-based.
But yah, it may have been cool though.

reading through ur description a second time, I couldn't help thinking that sorta sounds like a Kingdom Hearts MMO, with the different worlds and skill being a deciding factor in combat, crossed with the game i saw in Tsubasa Chronicles (the anime) where they could kill demons or run shops to earn thier keep. still a cool idea, i mean who wouldn't want to see a game like that?

Actually, I hope that there's technology that allows you to talk to other online players, as well as VR headsets. Oh yeah, and another thing, there's always a 99.5% chance of failure due to the fact that companies just only want to make money. Videogames aren't art, but hey, they're more like "Creating a World".

Did you even read the first post? THIS GAME IS TOO COOL TO BE IN OUR TIME. Besides, there are TONS of limitations that will prevent my game from ever coming, provided with the fact that the Sin Greed will make a mountain of an obstacle.Akuta wrote:I don't want to sound pessimistic, but that idea is way too unrealistic.

I read it all. I was just stating that no matter how long into the future you'd travel, it'd still be unrealistic. The line "THIS GAME IS TOO COOL TO BE IN OUR TIME" suggests that it's too hard to make as it is now, but could've been made in the future, which i was just saying doesn't sound realistic.PK Murderer Nickey wrote:Did you even read the first post? Of course! That's the thing. But hey, I was the fool to dream up this idea. At least I had the idea to accept and think that this was a great idea. Most people would scoff and be cynical, then go for something lowbrow. Of course, I have a chain of mountains to climb. Godspeed You! Elite Emperor!Akuta wrote:I read it all. Work at that dream my friend. Of course drastic changes come with everything, but its a dream and if you work at it right it may become a success. I applaud your efforts and hope youll get to your destinationPK Murderer Nickey wrote:Of course! That's the thing. But hey, I was the fool to dream up this idea.
