unless you count the drained data from other avatars.
Another pro:
eeeeeaaaaaaasy money xD
no goblin tag!
Cool characters you both fear and respect ( not haseo, but he is cool too)
you get to kill the people that tease you throughout the whole game ^__^
Your character is a bad ass =D just lookit him idle xD no more bunny hops
for ME the story was aLOT longer than there was in each of the first series titles. I mean, it seems I am alone in feeling this, but I was amazed the story progressed as far as it did. I mean, in the very first game we both get to kill our main protaganist AND the whiney b****!! Does that not show the greatness and compassion of the makers?!?!
And the story was alot more emotionally involving than the entire first game series... my heart was breaking when I thought he killed kuhn...
xD I <3 it all!!!!
by the by, anyone know of shady ways of upgrading the ps2's cpu or ram cache? I dont much care about voiding the warranty since I neither know it has one nor would believe it if did that is hasnt expired yet =/

To me, the main pro in the game is that they chose to focus more on story than gameplay. As a result, we get much more interesting character development, deeper drama, and well-timed humor. The GU characters have a completely new level of depth, whereas the characters in the original four games were a bit... glued to their roles.
In the original games, they tried to focus on both gameplay and storytelling, and as a result, the story was drawn out, and the gameplay, tedious. Also, the fact that you could change Kite's name pretty much limited the other characters to refering to him as "you" in the dialogue. GU isn't as flexible, but it's a different type of game - more like an interactive anime, I guess. And I have to say, some of those cutscenes are just beautiful.
Most of the other pros, people have mentioned - graphics, gameplay, music, the lack of pokemon-esque virus core collection sprees... Personally, I'm really glad there aren't any more monster portals. Those were always a bit silly, in my oppinion. ^^;
As for cons, I guess I miss some of the looping fields sometimes. Especially the snowy ones; those were pretty. And one thing they haven't done much to improve is the lack of ability to interact with the environment. Even if they added a larger variety of breakable objects, that would at least be something. Aside from that, there were a few occasions where my PS2 started seriously lagging. Also, durring some cut-scenes, they mixed high-poly and low-poly sprites, and that just looked very strange.
I'm not going to say anything about the voice acting or name changes, since that's more of a localization thing than a pro or con of Rebirth itself.

i saw that, but it wasn't too cool...my nephew was there when i started playing and he wouldn't shut up about the running... i finally told him to shut up about the running and yammer on about the cooler changes...like the weapons and skill trigger. but i didn't like that you couldn't see your weapon in town or outside of battle. i kinda liked that....the weapons looked cool and i was hoping we'd see them outside of battle...

oh wow, i forgot about that, but now that you mention it that was really cool. i use to keep a lot of twin blade weapons and i would sometimes switch and look at all of them in town.
Yeah, I agree with you here. Especially when you had rare ones and they'd leave streaks as you ran.Bryce_P wrote:i saw that, but it wasn't too cool...my nephew was there when i started playing and he wouldn't shut up about the running... i finally told him to shut up about the running and yammer on about the cooler changes...like the weapons and skill trigger. but i didn't like that you couldn't see your weapon in town or outside of battle. i kinda liked that....the weapons looked cool and i was hoping we'd see them outside of battle...

Yeah... I miss that too, but then, you really have no need to switch between weapons anywhere near as much as you used to.
Whatever you have on, you have on because its the hands-down best and will be seeing it till there is a new "best".
( I still equipped the locust to check what the hell I was working so hard to find ^^; was kinda dissappointed, but meh its a low-lvl item so I didn't have TOO high hopes)
The permanancy of skills really seperates it from the last series on a whole level.
I whored spells n stuff in the last series, I had me and every single party member use summons every chance we got ( or level 4 spells because they rock ), and was annoyed when I had to actually fight the magical tolerance ones. But here, it shows that you are not a magic user primarily ( my "kite" was doing damage on par with wiseman, though I forget who did more ) and the "difficulty" of manipulating your party members makes it more natural to let them run autonomously, as if they were capable people that can handle themselves. ( the only downside I had with this was I couldnt tell them to stop killing everything so quickly, I'm trying to do stuff xD )
Anywho~ running faster means alot to me. I am a slow gamer and damn proud of it, but I don't need help being slow by having to watch my character sloooowwly get from point A to point B and then to point C when I have point F4240 to get to.... ( very very very lame hex joke... )
I was really glad to see the job system too, but depressed when I realized it's still only scripted... no infinite jobs to do =/
I still disagree with many, many, many people here on the "lowpoints" of this game. Such as the VA ( which took me quite awhile to figure out what this stood for [ Voice Acting... god I hope thats what it is
])
There are entire threads ( very active and very, very long ) about how poor the voice acting is... based on what? and compared to what?
Its a game and was no worse ( but was in fact better in a number of cases) than any other game I have played.
... getting kinda long... I'll go back to silent mode in this thread for abit~

I honestly have no feeling to having weapons visible or not....but kicking chim chims and lucky/unlucky animals is pretty fun (can't imagine beating them with the ugly stick)
I think it would be cooler if the ninja chims would randomly battle you instead of sitting there and letting you kick them
Pros:
-everything I don't have in Cons
(yes that includes Piros the 3rd, he may have moved a few notches up the gay chart but i really like his song, WAY better than his old one.)
Cons:
-Game was a bit too short
-Online Jack has only 3 enteries! I want to know what happens next!
-Battles were easy. In original 4 games I was finding you needed to use a different style of fighing for each type of moster.
-No more Data Draining stuff on the spot. (Think what fun you could have with the Pker's from the bounty hunter quest
)
-Forced to lose against Alkaid, because I triggered the cutscene after 2 hits (note I got Alkaid down to zero HP)
-Story leaves you hanging. I'm Still trying to figure out what happens next.
-Only 6 member addresses, what's up with that!
-Piros at the Emperor crowning *cough* gay *cough*
