Yes...because the dothackers were banned as soon as they...finished the games.

If you mean how they banned Kite its simple. His character was illegal. Even though he saved the world his character had to be bannned. CC Corp just blocked his account easy as that.

sounds like a simple excuse for a reason to have shuugo. but none the less it comes straight from the gift horses mouth, so ill accept that as an official answer. however i really think its a plothole gaping to eat itself up.

well for me atleast, the series makes sense all the way up intill Udeden. but then again im really a big fan of the ps2 games and the though of kite/blackrose getting banned kinda irks me inside. kinda makes me biased when i watch udeden but itll have to do.

Were the characters deleted as a result of being banned, or was it intended as a tribute? I've read different interpretations that could go either way.

I would assume that the reason for Kite and Blackrose's disapearance has more to do with the japanese writers then any real .Hack// reason.

Most series' like to dump the original cast in favor of new blood as they go on. The writer's probably just wanted to have new faces for us to follow, not Level 99 masters like the original Kite and Blackrose.

I suppose it would be hard to create a satisfying story about overcoming conflicts without either going DragonBall Z-like (next enemy is insanely stronger then the last) or just plain un-exciting (bang, monster is dead.)

It's more fun to follow low-level characters? No?

What about Balmung, granted he became one of the CC Corp. employees, but he was still as deeply involved in the battles with the Phases as Kite & BlackRose.

I think Kite and Blackrose are still playing in the world exept in diffrent characters I also think the Crimson nights are still playing since silvernight helped Shugo in an episode.
