Dubbing already?

Post by Jugatsu »

Eh, well I won't say much, but this site I would torrent Roots on stops distribution when an anime gets liscense in the US. I checked earlier and it said that the series was taken down because it was licsensed. Does this mean that they're making a dubbed version of Roots already? If anyone has any information, please share. ._.

It was announced that Bandai will be dubbing the series, which was pretty inevitable really. As for whether or not they've actually started remains to be seen, though I hope they have as it means there's a smaller waiting period before the dubbed version comes out.

Ah, I guess I'll scrounge around the Bandai site and see if I can find anything, thanks. If I see anything about them actually dubbing Roots I'll post it here.

Edit:Yeah I did some searching around, it's just as you said they've bought the rights to it and junk. I guess this means a dubbed version will be getting released pretty soon after all.

I saw the news about it on theOtaku.com; yeah, of course Bandai would get it, but I wouldn't worry too much about a bad dubbing. It's been getting better and better over the years. I just hope they don't take too long on it. XP

The dub probably won't be out for a while, assuming they've even started on it yet. Although I'm sure it will still be subbed by someone until the series is completed.

The subbing won't stop completely and if they did you can always get the raws somehow. Anyways I just hope the voice actors are good or else they will kill the series. ;_;

Yeah, considering the Japanese voices match the characters very well, I'm hoping it doesn't get butchered when englishes voices are done. But I learned the reason most animes have girls with high pitched voices is because it's considered attractive in Japanese culture, or something along those lines. Because I learned that the high pitched voices are at least understandable. Hopefully they don't go over board much with it.

Anyways I hope it's at least done to the quality of Sign's voice acting. It wasn't as good as the japanese voice acting, but it wasn't bad either. In a worst case scenario I hope it's just something like that.

I was reading through the panel reivews on ANN and ran across this little piece of information:
Next up was new news on the .hack series. Bandai has acquired the license to the 26-episode anime series .hack//Roots. This animation ties into the three upcoming .hack//G.U. Playstation 2 games. The series is being pushed for TV at the end of 2006 and DVD in 2007.
From http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/convention.php?id=331

I better remember that, I can't wait to see how things go for the English version. I always worry about the voices, but they'll probably do the best they can do. As Jugatsu said, I hope it will be of at least the same quality as Sign.

The voice actor for Haseo did a good job in the japanese version(note: he also did Cloud in FF:AC and the games)Let's just hope they don't kill the series with horrible dubbing :cry:
