I read somewhere that in the last episode of .Hack//Legend of the Twilight Balmung is killed my a person that looks like Kite!

Is this true?

Not last episode, last manga. They probably added to hint the readers of a potential series involving this Kite, then the potential series evolved into G.U.

So? It's called a prototype, look at the prototype trailer and compare their appearances to the current ones used. It's not like they're going to keep the same design.

You mean the 'Q' staff and the celtic cross? Oh, in the english version they editted it to a 'Q' staff. Since they didn't want something representing a cross to be affiliated with evil. *sigh* English people.

Well, another possibility is being consistent. The Q-shape was also in SIGN, in both versions.

Yeah, that's right.

Looks like it's just a spin-off or something like that. Or maybe a clue.

In original version (it is said, I never read the original one) there is a sentence:

"To the G.U.!"

It's present in the English, too. Untranslated. Look in the bottom left corner. You'll see something that looks more or less like this: "GU へ".

I remember seeing that and I thought to myself...the first time I saw it...that character would look great for another .hack game.

Though...after playing #1 of G.U. and checking the clips on YouTube...in Japanese...he sounds a lot better than English. In terms of voice and sound effects, the Japanese one sounds better. English...is so-so, in my opinion.
