Hundredth tale in the hundred stories.
Could someone give me a link explaining this myth or perhaps explain it for me? It was mentioned in Volume 3 of Liminality and I am a bit curious about it.

What follows may not be entirely accurate in all details, but it's close enough.
The "hundred stories" is one of many Japanese traditions involving the telling of ghost stories. At night, in a dark place, a group of people lights 100 candles. They then take turns telling scary stories, extinguishing one candle after each story. After the hundredth story is told, the last candle is put out. This has the effect of leaving a group of people who have just heard a hundred ghost stories suddenly in total darkness....
What are the odds that they're going to see or hear something they interpret as being a ghost?

Hyaku yuurei no monogatari (One hundred ghost's stories)Shinsou Wotan wrote:The term "supernatural" in that translation was inserted by the translator, probably to clarify what the custom was about. "Monogatari" can refer to any sort of story.Dantei wrote:The name is hyaku monogatari (One hundred supernatural tales).

ああ、分かります。その訳は正しいです。だが、その怪談会のスタイルの名は「百幽霊の物語」じゃなくて「百物語」です。Dantei wrote:Hyaku yuurei no monogatari (One hundred ghost's stories)Shinsou Wotan wrote:The term "supernatural" in that translation was inserted by the translator, probably to clarify what the custom was about. Wakaru ka?
Boku wa Kanji ga wakarimasen. Zannenna. Babel Fish o tsukaimashita. Boku wa kihontekina Nihongo ga wakarimasu. Katakana, Hiragana.
Am I making sense? Anyways, thanks for the challenge. Even when using Babel Fish, it was still confusing.
Do you know the proper name or is there even a name at all. I found information on the subject. Sounds like fun. I want to do it with my japanese friends.
