Speed Run. Need Tips

Post by Fluegel-R »

Hey everyone. I recently posted this on the offical G.U. forums, but I wasn't sure if this site and that one are related, but regaurdless, I plan on doing a speed run through Reminisce, without a Rebirth save from Vol.1, so I'm starting completely from scratch. Does anyone have any tips that I can accept to help me out for preporations? (Ex: Certain items, weapons, tasks that need to be done, etc.) before I venture into the game as fast as I can. I'm trying to go for seven hours or less.

From my apparently highly incomplete speed guide:

-----
Leviathan fields
-----

Noteworthy fields for when your party level average is even. Noteworthy means
that Leviathan is within the area of the starting platform and can be easily
run down without the fear of monsters interfering.

After visiting Moon Tree at the start of the game:
Delta: Galloping Cupid's Empire (LV. 45)
NOTE: Amber Dragon Eye is available here, along with other common attachments
such as Stingray Stinger that may serve a purpose at the beginning.

Theta: Airy Cupid's Phantom (Item LV. 55, Fire/Wind)
NOTE: Fan Angels and Grimoire Angels are common here.

Theta: Galloping Unlimited Foot Stone (Item LV. 96, Wind/Darkness)
Theta: Galloping Advice's Foot Stone (Item LV. 96, Wind/Darkness)
NOTE: Tortoise Shell and Jade Dragon Eye can be gathered here. Leviathan is
close to an altar, but not close enough for you to be pulled into battle on a
successful attack.

Theta: Galloping Season's Drunkard (Item LV. 96, Fire/Wind/Darkness)
WARNING: There is a roaming monster group that may get too close to Leviathan.
This field is not advisable.

Theta: Galloping Season's Exile (Item LV. 97, Water/Wind/Darkness)
NOTE: Twin Scales and Dowsing Chain available here as well as Tortoise
Shell, though the latter appears to be just as rare as Twin Scales. It may be
preferable to use Galloping Unlimited/Advice's Foot Stone.

Theta: Galloping Season's Metal Doll (Item LV. 97, Water/Wind/Darkness)
NOTE: Same as above, but with Leviathan directly behind the Platform (directly
in your field of vision).

NOTE: All of these fields have the Demonic Mallet, which may be worth consideration.

Theta: Blurry Cupid's Eradication (Item LV. 67, Fire/Earth/Light)
NOTE: Time Conch, Dual Angel, and Strategic Fan can be found here.

Theta: Blurry Cupid's Gray Dance (Item LV. 69, Fire/Earth/Darkness)
NOTE: Time Conch, Dual Angel, and Strategic Fan can be found here.

Theta: Great Cupid's Gray Dance (Item LV. 59, Water/Darkness)
NOTE: Boost Candle is a rare item here.

Theta: Submissive Cupid's Gray Dance (Item LV. 59, Fire/Darkness)
NOTE: Scythe Angels are common here.

Theta: Great Cupid's Night Moon (Item LV. 55, Water)
NOTE: Staff Angels are common here (not the best field though).

-----
Moon Rabbit fields

Delta: Submissive Failing Slacker (LV. 4)
NOTE: Same as the above. The animal should be in your eyesight, however.

Theta: Galloping Leading Weed Eater (LV. 94)
NOTE: Same as the first Theta field in what you'll acquire, but the animal is
on the opposite side of the island you're on.

LV. *3 or *8
Theta: Galloping Obsessive Slacker

-----
Chim requirement
-----

- 215 to complete the game, but should you screw up during the job extension
quest, you'll need 20 more for each missed Talking Door question.

-----

-----

NOTE - This section only covers Haseo.

Now as far as tactics, TheSorrow has done some low level battles in Reminisce and would be the best to ask for a time estimate should you choose to forgo leveling up. If you use the rabbit, optimally it should take just less than a minute per kick, round trip. You could definitely go under 7 hours with Moon Rabbit, but I would definitely do a test run first because that seems like a conservative estimate to me.

Also, I've said in the past that my luck with counters at death in Reminisce seems to be void of value, but you may want to try suicide counters anyway if you go the low level route. If you can get them to work, then Sakaki and Ovan at least will be significantly shorter battles... provided you can survive Moon Tree.

Well, no, I take that back; given the EXP system for uninvolved party members only gives 70 EXP maximum per enemy taken out (rewarded immediately at death, so you can't Smoke Screen your way out of that) and nothing else whatsoever, you may be able to work up a Moon Rabbit chart that allows you to avoid leveling up Atoli or Pi significantly so they can be used for counters in those fights.

I can't think of anything else at the moment.

Excellent. Two things though.

1.) Are all the items listed above guaranteed exactly? as in, I'll get them no matter what?

2.)Where could I obtain "Gudo Oils"? I plan on increasing Haseo's overall speed by 20%, because IIRC, accessories avaliable to Haseo that are around his level at the beginning have two slots, and Gudo Oils increase movement by 10% each. With Speed Talismans, I should be able to move like a rocket through dungeons.

Not with Leviathan, but yes to High Wolf.

Oh, and I forgot my Lucky Animal chart (c/p to Notepad or something with a fixed width font, this'll help more than Zer0's just because it's not an image):

Code: Select all

Lucky Animal location chart

KEY:

Fields
Moon - Moon Rabbit | Gane - Ganesha
Tsut - Tsutsuga | T.T. - Two Tailed Fox
MCat - Malice Cat | Slep - Sleipnir
Wolf - High Wolf | Gold - Gold Bird
Levi - Leviathan | Fate - Fate Worm

Dungeons
Kudn - Kudan | Tokh - Tohkoh
QLin - Qi Lin | Nue - Nue
DGot - Dark Goat | Cmra - Chimera
Baku - Baku | Tote - Totetsu
Tngu - Tengu | Oryu - Ouryu

Area level - Pretty obvious. Only the ones digit matters, hence the *.

Party level average - The average of your current party's levels. Remember
that any digits after the decimal are to be disregarded in the final number, so
even if it comes out 94.99999~, your average is 94. Like area level, only the
ones digit matters.

My guide doesn't have those unfortunately. Gudo Oil typically falls under the Wind element, so I would check the appropriate fields, w/ Leviathan if possible, starting at around LV. 65 and going up.
