How you have preferred to see LINK play out?--ie Your Own

Post by A.R.T »

How did you see LINK playing out? Did you have a grand vision of a story in mind, or did you see it as something else entirely? Here's my take, add yours if you see it:

The Story-
The man known only as Fluegel descends upon the World R:X the day upon it's release, intent on hunting what he calls the descreator of time...Aura. Time to Fluegel is something precious, something not to be tainted. Aura defies time as a "goddess" of the World, being virtually immune to real-life decay. Even though she does not see herself as a goddess, Aura nonetheless still holds the title. But Aura is not the only thing that has met Fluegel's ire, it is The World in general...it preserves moments in time and makes them real again, something akin to "time travel", which Fluegel is unwittingly against. So, Fluegel (without his other seven cohorts) and his apprentice, Saika Amagi...seek out all those personally connected to the events of the last ten years.

Capturing the majority of those associated with Aura, Fluegel has himself quite the little army...for instance, the AI Azure Kite and his Azure Knights, not to mention the Avatar Users of R:2. That are strapped to hospital beds, visors the size of sunglasses keeping them in "submergence"...ie, when the consciousness travels to R:X. In 2020, it is mandatory to live within "Za Warudo" as the technology has advanced to the point where the dream has become reality (in a sense). Life is not quite the same...maintenance of the real world is still taken care of... any spare time is required to take place in what's called "The New World".

It was a plan 10 years in the making for CC Corporation. Making backyard deals throughout the globe, and killing any and all opposing forces, CC Corp managed to make themselves the leading power with their "MMORPG"..ie, a newly simulated world. People did not get to choose...they were forced into the game. Now, these "invaders" of Aura's and the AI and AIDA's domain are in for a shock. Fluegel, using a weapon from the now cracked "black box" completely takes control of any AI life...except Aura. Now, the chase begins...in a story that takes place from New Year's Day to New World's End...Fluegel begins a maddening quests that gives us new prespective on the life of Aura and why Fluegel takes the look of a man that was responsible for the creation of "The World"...Harald Horewick.

Characters-

Silabus-The newly minted "Twilight Knight". Easy going and a pretty nice guy, he has admired "The World" for it's simplicity and an escape from "real life"...now that the game has been deemed "real", it's not the escape he once admired, though he is quite excited to be able to interact on a new level. However, when someone he thought dead shows up again in his life, the purpose of his life becomes quite complicated...poor Silabus.

Sophora-The main girl. The chilling blue furred main girl is Silabus' love interest, but she holds a dark secret...she is not the Nanase that Silabus knew in real life. She has similar qualities, but as the story progresses she begins to gain a more open personality as she learns more about Silabus himself.

Alkaid-Sophora's "nemesis". Has no interest in Silabus at all it would seem...at one time, she did have a spark of romance in her eye for the guy, but someone else caught her eye instead. One of the few free of Fluegel's control, her sparky personality makes her the "spunky" of the team.

Sirius-The "older" of the group and in a relationship with Alkaid, the dog-like Emperor of the Holy Palace is back instead in a new PC as a deer like warrior. He still values his fists, and will use his newly minted "horns of fury" to drive any away from his family.

Kite-The original, here to give advice to what he sees as a new generation of .hackers. The Twilight Knights is an organization that he forms but ultimately gives away to one he feels will take it over in his place...Silabus.

Saphfire-A 10 foot anthromorphic giraffe, the partner of Kite and head of Net Slum Tartarga. She hates anyone who loves cheese...as she is allergic...she is rather unserious, a kind of hybrid between the last two heads of Net Slum...Helba and Zelkova.
But as an AI, she is very knowledgable and knows that this fight against Fluegel and CC Corporation will be the most important.

Cubia-Once against Kite, he is now his ally in the form of a young adult. He takes care of the newly formed "Mia 2"...a clone of the former Macha in the form of Mia, stitched together in places not unlike Azure Kite.

Mia 2-New to life, she seeks learn more about herself and her significance to her surroundings. Cubia does his best to teach Mia 2 the best qualities of life and how to be a "good person".

SO,there you have it...CC Corp still up to no good, Fluegel and Saika as the only new villians, former allies are now enemies (ie brainwashed), and we have a stronger yet smaller cast. The story would revolve around a new "human Aura"..a blast from Fluegel's weapon ironically not killing her yet making her mortal. At first, that's good enough for him...but Saika convinces him that it is simply not enough to take away her immortality...they have to take away her World too. So, Fluegel and Saika search for a way to destroy "The World"...that's where the 26 Chrono Cores come into play. Gathered, they would enable the user to "gate hack" the Creator's Domain...a place in "The World" where you can debug...one place that CC Corp could not get into.

Lame.

My idea is to be more minimalist. See my thread for most of my ideas, but for my ideal, I would cut out the Aura corruption thing entirely, and if she must be a boss have her "test" Tokio (who turns out to be Amagi's incomplete Ultimate AI from the original RA Plan), and Schiksal were the original Epitaph Users who went into a coma (save Klarinette, who was Tarvos and thus not involved in the incident). Their "modded" PCs were the original Epitaph PCs that the Epitaphs abandoned, and so they still have "imprints" of their powers. Their motives all differ; some wish to return to their real world, Klarinette wants to save "him" (apparently one of them is her brother or lover or something), and some, like Fluegel and Geist, just wish to rule the internet as Gods.

The returning characters are AI constructs created by Za Warudo reliving it's memories, and the Chrono Cores are actually fragments of the Dummy Epitaph. Uniting them would allow Tokio to become complete...under the uniter's control. Saika, who wishes to wake up her brother, is trying to gain control of the complete Tokio so she can do this, and everyone else is basically fighting over him like an object. Ultimately, he must unite it himself and secure his own free will and safety.

My story:

Story stays the same up until heis sucked in. Tokio is a little bit the same but still with changes: strike the gravity defying hair, minus the stupid bag and goggles and tape on his cheeks, and YOU choose his class. (its the last game and we deserve a little more). Also you can have 2 people in your party and that includes everyone uve ever seen *sigh* including Piros. Xth form is exclusive to haseo, kite, tsukasa, shugo, azurekite, and tokio.oh and sora but its kinda his AI skeith based form.

2020: Tokio is a freshman in high school, has some friends but is still a gaming freak. His attitude stays the same basically until the kite/fluegel fight.
Kite is shot with a gun that wipes him of his memory as a hero and they must travel in data patches to reclaim the memories of him and the other members of the twilight knights. The gun takes their memories to find the location of the super-mega device weapon to destroy Aura and freeze Za Warudo in place. Trapping the minds of everyone playing in the game and Schicksal threatens to wipe their minds unless give some compensation.

200?(forget the year): T & K see Albierio data draining and working as AI buster progresses. You only fight alongside him during the city beast fight and after ward (optional) you can fight against the One Sin, afterwards he thanks you and wanders off "mysteriously"

2007: T & K's first stop as they work to reclaim Tsukasa and Sora's memories and travel thru all 28 ep's of SIGN. (excluding Unison)

2009: T & K's second stop and after finding THE ORIGINAL BLACK ROSE (also did i mention Kites appearance goes back as well) and working with her and the other .hackers (Balmung, Mistral etc) to go through every part of IMOQ. As they progress Kite's memory from the past and future slowly comeback.(including Unison where you basically run around killing data bugs)

ie Your Own Part 2

The move on through time but Kite disappears back to the future and warns T about what is yet to come (vaguely)

2014: T winds up in LotT and meets Shugo and Rena, they travel through and meet Zefie while fighting a reborn morganna (Crossing the plots of the anime and manga).

2017: Jump sometime farther and as T tries to greet an angry Haseo (he gets his ass handed to him in the scene from TRILOGY) who kicks him. T follows him and they slowly end up on agreed terms and decide to work together and defeat AIDA and later Corbenik. He meets GU and the F*** up his data to give him the dummy avatar (only for this part!) so he can fight alongside haseo. He almost gets annihilated by the Azure Trio but is saved by Haseo

2020: After finishing his travel throu the records and meeting AI's of the heroes he goes back to the future(geez thats weird to say) and is greeted by all those he helped in the past. Saika tells him that the system is malfunctioning and that AURA may be to blame. Turns out she works for Schicksal and this was her plan after her insane brother couldnt go through with it. She used the data she colected from the memories to create doppelegangers of the past heroes who you gotta fight. You unlock your Xth form (whichll look cooler) by the combined powers of all your friends faith and Aika's assitance. You then must fight Saika where she is the final boss. Halfway through the fight Cubia(human) and Skye come to help and you finish her with a super-mega-death cross rengeki with evryone running up to get their hit in. After you defeat her everythings goes to normal, she is in a mental hospital and and you can run around freely to play as ou please. Tokio vends up dating metrenomes player

1) The anime was non-canon and it was complete crap, not to mention contradictory to the rest of the series.

2) Morti is not a reborn incarnation of Morganna.

Wait, what? Why is Aura responsible? Is that just a like Saika makes up?

Why is AIKA assisting Tokio? In canon she's Saika's partner, so what's different? Do you change her in any other way?

How does Saika fight? She's mission control and doesn't have a PC.

How the hell does human Cubia show up? Who's Skye? You mean my made-up name for Kite-Sora?

Why does Saika go to a mental hospital? Shattering someone's mind like that isn't something the heroes do. Furthermore, Tokio hooking up with Metronome? Why? She's a Schiksal member, and thus just as villainous as Saika, right? Especially since Saika is so obviously set up as Tokio's love interest.

Though completely irrelevant, .hack//wiki says Metronom is a dude. Yep, also lacks an "e" at the end of his name (being the ***** bastard he is, I'm too used to METRONOME, partly since it's an actual word in the English language I'm used to seeing.)

And as much as I enjoy random pairings even this makes little sense to me.

To address the LotT thing i meant to lean more towards the manga then the anime since ALOT of people thought it was bull. Also its been a while since ive watched it so just cut the Morti BS and follow ther manga instead. Yes I mean your name as the title for Skye because always typing Kite(Sora) is a pain since she shares her name with 2 other characters and maybe 3 other ones from other series. Cubia shows up in alternate timeline XXXX kinda like TRILOGY but SOMEHOW he finds his way to 2020. He's not really real but like an AI of an AI (as little sense as that makes) and in the manga you DO see Saika's PC its a level 200 chick that looks like a german version of her with an assault rifle.. Its not just that people think Legends anime is bad, its that its not part of the main canon. And unless they do something crazy the Link manga is also not main canon. Of course this is your dream story, so you wanted to mix them I guess you could. But I think most people are thinking how you would preferred Link to have played out as part of the main canon. Of course since Saika is a new character you could say "She gets a lvl 200 form like she did in the manga", that would be easier to make canon.

I'm putting my thoughts on the subject onto paper, but I guess I'll jot some of it down here as well so I don't have to post the whole shebang myself (it's more a fanfic of the whole series and not LINK, but it's based around LINK, so I doubt I'd have any good reception anyway).

Tokio gets a copy of the new version of The World R:X in a similar manner to the start of the main game - Saika gives it to him, but he doesn't get sucked into the game world like he does in the main story. Early on in his "quest", he meets Kite, who is trying to find out the secret of the bracelet (he's been memory-wiped for some reason or other, explained later, and he's still in 2010 when Orca fell comatose).

Haseo comes along as well - he thinks that Kite is Tri-Edge (again, stuck in the past), and Kite resists this accusation until Haseo shows his Avatar, after which he blames Haseo for Orca's loss. The quarrel continues, and they eventually end up leaving Tokio behind because they don't want to work together due to their respective difficulties. Tokio sets out to figure out what caused the memory wipe, when he runs into Schicksal. Or more specifically, Geist.

Geist taunts Tokio and they get into a fight; however, Geist retreats, leaving Tokio confused. Tsukasa, who was apparently being attacked by Geist (and, again, is stuck in the past), is hesitant to approach Tokio, but agrees to help him out since Tokio saved him. Tsukasa informs Tokio of Schicksal's nature (which he learned some of in the battle), and Tokio immediately deduces that Schicksal are the bad guys.

Fluegel is nothing more than a figurehead - Geist is the real leader of Schicksal, having enough power to overthrow the other members if he so pleases, so they follow him instead. Fluegel issues Geist's orders, though, so it's presumed at first that he is the leader. Tokio disapproves of Schicksal's actions, battling Fluegel in an effort to find out the truth, but none of Schicksal's members are willing to reveal it.

After a while of this (and Tokio meeting several of the other past characters as well, notably the "female leads" from the previous series, as well as other protagonists such as Albireo), Posaune, Trommel and Metronome are put out of commission, and Geist decides that it's taking too much time to stop Tokio - not to mention, the other protags are starting to regain their memories and have decided to rejoin with Tokio. Geist flees, preparing to regroup, but Klarinette rouses suspicion, and he orders her "executed" by Orgel's hands. She manages to escape, finds Tokio and tells him about Schicksal's plans and how Geist is the true leader, controlling the rest through his sheer power. Tokio also discovers that they're behind the memory loss, and he attempts to restore the memory of the other characters, a futile effort, as it turns out. Seeing that some of the others, however, are having strong influences on the memory loss, he leaves it be until he can find a way to treat it.

Geist, played by Jyotaro, is now attempting to infect Aura, though the virus that he wanted to use is no longer in his hands, so he has to start over from the beginning. Now that the rest of Schicksal (with the exception of Orgel) have defected, though, he doesn't have the ability to resist Tokio as is, so instead he goes about trying to steal the powers of the other protags. Tokio has met with a benign AIDA (who we know as AIKA, though she won't be introduced as such in this version) who infuses itself into him and lends him the power he needs to prevent Aura's destruction, although he's unaware as to why Aura needs protection at this point.

Then, it becomes obvious to him - Saika is now being controlled by Jyotaro, and she's logged into The World as the bearer of the virus that was intended to infect Aura. It was apparently in her hands all along, and once Jyotaro was able to uncover that fact, he naturally decided to use Saika as his pawn. Saika is unwilling; however, her memory was also erased, more completely than the others, and she is aware now only of the fact that Jyotaro is her brother. Tokio is, naturally, heartbroken, but with the aid of the defected Schicksal members, he manages to bring back Saika. Unfortunately, the virus has escaped into the system and is headed straight for Aura - Tokio knows that this would bring an unstoppable catastrophe if it played out as Jyotaro planned, so he searches for the virus, trying to find it before it finds Aura.

Kite, enhanced by the power of the Bracelet, and Haseo, given power by the other seven Epitaph Users, have now achieved their own respective Xth forms. Aura gave Kite this blessing in a last-ditch attempt to stave off the virus, but she's evidently already too close to infection and they're rapidly running out of time. Cubia, the Anti-Existence, sees now that there is something terribly amiss in Aura's data, and though unwilling, takes Aura's last conscious advice to aid the heroes. She has bestowed upon him the intelligence to make his own decisions, and so he takes a more humanoid form, though still in possession of power equal to Tokio's. Cubia must remain distant, however, so as not to disturb the balance of power (being the Anti-Existence), and thus he can't directly aid the heroes, but takes to chasing off Geist while Tokio and company go to disinfect Aura.

The virus' strength has grown such that it's completely taken over Aura, and in an alarmingly short amount of time. Aura, possessed by Jyotaro's will, is going on a rampage, attempting to destroy the heroes. Tokio is determined to save Aura without killing her, but as it turns out, he can only do so via the help of the other, previous heroes. Combining their powers into one, they succeed in removing the virus from Aura, but the virus itself is still running rampant. They have to contain its power before it can reinfect someone, but nothing they can think of will work, and it is then that a final shred of hope appears.

Remnants of Morganna, dispersed long ago by the system, have manifested in Tokio's character. He uses this last, extra bit of strength to delete the virus, though at the same time the backlash causes his character, as well as those of the other players, to be destroyed. Aura is freed, and Cubia once again goes dormant, having defeated Geist at around the same time as the virus' destruction. Jyotaro falls comatose in the real world, and Saika realizes her wrongdoing and returns to apologize to Tokio. Everyone else has regained their memory as well; they remember who they are now, and attempt to make amends for the in-fighting that occurred during the battle.

In the end, everyone meets up offline, and they all have a huge party to celebrate their victory. Tokio returns to The World, but most of the others decide they've outgrown it, and go their own ways in the world, saying their farewells as needed. Saika also joins Tokio in The World, recreating her character, and says that no matter what happens in the future, she'll always be there to help him protect it.

Tokio decides that he doesn't really feel anything special for Saika, in spite of her reciprocating his previous feelings with time. He rejects her, but she doesn't mind, saying that he needs to find his own happiness. Making up his mind, he goes to Klarinette and thanks her for the assistance, but is rejected by her in the end; she thinks that it's too soon to be making decisions, and tells him to wait until he gets older. Tokio is heartbroken, but understands Klarinette's meaning. He remains single, but has high hopes of finding love in the future.

Yes, it's a very cheesy script, and not well-thought out, and STILL introduces human Cubia in some sort of aspect (more due to personal bias than anything), but hey, what can you expect from me? XD

Also i meant wiki not .hack//wii. That'd be funny though. Ah I thought the manga was canon to the manga series. Whats wrong with the manga (besides Tokio). He should be a bonus but due to DEUS EX MACHINA P0WAHZ Cubia makes it in too. I was coming up with the plot on the spot so a lot of my stuff should probably change thats a little strange but also correct

I was referring to the actual story of Link. I showing sympathy to Link's story even despite it failing any many ways.

How the story, and gameplay should have been spoilers

Post by zaseo »

The gameplay to me is fine, but it could have been improved.
1. 3 party members (not sure how the cross rengekis would work.)
2. normal attacks do decent damage
3. Gu's rengeki system. juggling is rather boring.
4. enemies do more damage.
5. using skills give super armor frames for the first strike or two, but after that the player will take damage, and knockback
6. doesn't really matter, but I prefer seeing hp like 1709/5292 than 30% out of 100% left.
7. the middle attacks, or ending attacks of combo should be able to give enemies a bit more knockback, and make then flinch more.
8. making dodging attacks harder.
9. from what I have seen you don't walk around root towns anymore, or make custom fields so add those back.
10. play as any party member, or at least a few mains like Kite, Haseo etc.
11. make other weapons for the characters to wield, and were they are seen.

The story was something I tried to spare sympathy for, but it failed.
1. what happens in the past stays in the past.
2. a new story.
3. if story is the same it should officially become uncanon.
4. Tokio isn't main character, and he is in xth form by default.
5. everyone who has xth forms will have that has their normal look, or which ever form makes then look like they was at first.
6. Aura doesn't die.

This thread lacks any sort of meaningful substance. Can't this be merged with that other "How would you do it?" thread?

Perhaps something like in Tales of Rebirth, where the character who's closest to you is the one pairing up with you? I know it's not really the same because ToR uses LMB, but you get what I mean...

Why couldn't there have been a freaking character swap option? That would of at least made the gameplay a bit more exciting. Wouldn't CC2 figure out the need of the player wanting so desperately to switch out with the main hero for someone else in the party via mid-combat? Wouldn't that just be grand?
