That is also a smart thing to do but I only started the .hack games the anime and manga I just hope this isn't the last installment.

As per the front page via Kuukai's reporting and the Famitsu article, it has been stated that this will conclude .hack. What does that mean really? Not sure yet, hopefully it's more generic than it sounds.
I know I don't speak my opinion much on the boards, aside from the front page of the site, but I am initially shocked at how CC2 might end the series.

Those are pretty sad news for me and other .hack fans. I just hope CC2 doesn't mean what they say by "conclude"...

They're saying it's the last installment of .hack, which means there will be no games with ".hack" in them. That doesn't specifically say that the storyline is over, merely states they won't call it .hack anymore. ;3 (Well, if they are to continue it in some way)
