HP of phases...?

Post by GB-chan » Thu Jul 10, 2008 7:00 am

Everyone is saying that HP of Phases is infinite or unknown. I agree that in some ways, but I have noticed few things. You know I was waching, while my best friend was killing Skeith, and I realised that there really IS a logic in phases HPs!

So, there are numbers (0, 1, 4, 6 and 7) and those marks, i don't know the right word (*, #, >, % and : )

I was observing the HP and I inferred that numbers and marks have one kind of logical order, you know some of the numbers are just replaced with marks. And if you know which mark is meaning which number, you can say what is the HP.

If I'm correct the order of marks and numbers is this (from 0 to 9):
0 1 * # 4 > 6 7 % :

That means:
* = 2
# = 3
> = 5
% = 8
: = 9

And if my theory is correct Skeiths, Innis's and Magus's (and probably the others too, I just haven't "seen" them) full HP in the beginning of the fight is 9999 ( :::: ). Or 10000, I havent seen the full HP, just after one hit...

I believe in this theory because it seems to be correct. I would be really grateful if someone could pay attention and watch the HP, I want to know is this a correct theory.

(//Oh I forgot to mention, that in databugs it's the same thing)

Now, has someone noticed this too or am I the only one?

(Sorry for my bad english.... :( )

No, really, their HP's are infinite. The weird characters are just placeholders with no numerical meaning.

While there is a little bit of a pattern in the HP numbers/symbols (so that after the 1 the * will come, then the #, then the 4 and so on), the first digit will not follow that pattern all the time, usually repeating numbers or symbols before going through them all.

So, in other words, the numbers don't really mean anything, they're just placeholders like AT said, and the phases and data bugs DO have infinite HP (aside from Corbenik and the fake Data Bug, but that's a different story and Corbenik's first forms follow the same rule anyhow). I noticed the HP thing when i was playing it, and though i never got to test it on Phases (because they're hard enough to get into Protect Break), i did notice that their HP bar decreased a little with the attacks, so i tested it with Data Bugs that were vulnerable to the Death attack (reduces their HP to 10%). And the results were:
-The first Death attacked inflicted did about 40,000 damage (no typo, 40 thousand damage), yet the Data Bug's HP bar was only decreased in like 1/8 or so (still considerable).
-Next Death attacks did about 37,000, 33,000, 27,0000, etc (not really following a pattern, but decreasing), still doing considerable damage to the HP bar. Then, once the HP reached a certain digit/symbol combination and the bar was close to half empty, both the numbers and the bar stopped moving. Kite and the others still did damage, Death doing about 16,000 (never changing once that point was reached), and the Data Bug still attacked like normal (some could also heal with some Rig Seam and the HP numbers would move, but once damaged they'd reach the same point as before and stop). And no matter how much damage was done, the numbers and bar never changed.
-Now, regarding Protect Break, with both Phases and Data Bugs they get Protect Broken depending of the amount of hits done and (not sure), the amount of damage they do. Not really sure about the damage, because it took me about the same time to Protect Break a Data Bug using Death attacks and using normal attacks (and with Phases i usually tend to hit them with the strongest attacks anyhow). Didn't test it with Phases, like i said before, but in Data Bugs, the more times it gets Protect Broken (without using DD), the faster they'll Protect Break next time. So it might take alot at first, but by the point when the HP bar wouldn't move they'd get into Protect Break like each 20 hits or so, which is just about a Twin Blade skill.
I have a few piccies (i hope they're still there) where it shows the Data Bugs getting a heckload of damage from a Death attack and their bar changing, as well as the lowest the bar will reach, if you're interested in seeing that.

So in general, Phases and Data Bugs do have infinite HP, or just an insanely high amount of HP that at one point it'll get locked and force you to use Data Drain if you still wanna progress. And the Protect Break status is dependable of hits, not of damage.
And sorry if i said too much, more than you needed to know, but this little testing i did a year ago or so was exactly for this kind of question, and so i wanted to share all my findings XD Now if only other people would be that cooperative with the stuff they tend to find...

Oh now I understand! :D Thank you for sharing the information, TheSorrow, it is really cool how much you have determined by yourself! :D It would be really interesting to see those pics! (If you really still have them xD) And no, you didn't say too much, I'm glad about all the information I can get and this helps me to understand the whole thing! :)

Glad that my little research has been useful for someone :D
Here are some images, follow the links because they're too big to post. They were taken with a digital camera, but they look clear enough for you to see the damage and the HP bar.

Doing 14000 damage. I guess i gotta edit my last post, because the damage done is not 40000, but 14000, being 6000 the lowest one 'XD Alot less than i remembered, but still very high for the game, and makes me glad that i have the piccies so they can prove me wrong/right >3>

Moar 14000 damage. You can see the HP bar clearly in this one, and see how much the damage done affects it. That one blow has to be the second one, at most the third one done by the Death effect.

HP bar and number limit. This is the lowest the HP bar will get, and the number that it'll get stuck on. No matter what kind of Data Bug is (or Phase, though good luck inflicting over 90000 damage without Death), it'll be the same number and the same place in the HP bar.
