I was on my phone when Project LayereD just appeared all my Twitter Account. The series first appeared at TGS 2016 and is some sort of new multimedia IP being completed by CC2, DreamCO and Polygon Pictures and takes place in Shibuya 2037. There is an upcoming Mobile Game. And the series is open source fusion of a GAME, ANIME and UGC (User Generated Content). The creators are also doing something for accepting user generated character designs, reveal monsters each week, allow users to create protagonists for the story before early October and so on. (I was wrong. I don't think the series is related to the .hack series, However this might be bigger. Updates as I find out more.)

So, looks like this was their new "surprise collaboration" VR IP. I'm disappointed, to say the least. I was hoping for a console VR experience. Well, looks like we can safely say 1 of those 3 projects CC2 has been talking about since 2014 was this one, leaving the RPG and the "photo-realistic" game. Every year at TGS I pray for .hack news, and every year I'm left bitter and disappointed.

The character design contest might be ending. So far the main character for the anime designed by the fans is a male named Yuto



Also the main character for the game is a female named Ion.
