.hack//Wikia maintenance

Post by roru_aurarios »

Konnichi wa.

It has been a while but what I have notice is that .hack//Wikia is a bit messy and some info needs to be updated. It also need a new dothack theme. The site begins to become bored. Some pages need to be removed and needs to be place together.

That is all I could say for now.

UPDATE (October 7, 2014, Tuesday):
I was wondering if we could update the infobox a bit. To make the photos stack in one box. Here is a sample that I got from SAO wikia.Image

Thats actually a pretty good idea, although listing their offline identities might be a hassle as we don't even know who some of the characters are offline.

It does not have to be if their real life counterparts would be there or not. Whatever concept appearances that they occurred from.

For example, for Kite, you can add his PS2 picture, his SIGN picture, his manga picture (both his avatar and real life counterpart).

How about Sora from .hack//Beyond the World, you can add her real life picture, her avatar picture, her manga picture (if anyone that have bought those books).

These are some sample suggestions.

Just try add as much info into it for other people of what is going on the series.

If anyone wants to add something to change the dothack Wikia, then you can post here.

Somebody already added the stacked panels. The problem is a lot of character stuff has been done without thinking it through. Sometimes the same character has multiple articles for different generations, sometimes they don't, sometimes they've been merged this way. Somebody made over a hundred and twenty articles in the format "Kite (R:X)" etc. which is just silly. Articles about the Twilight Knights should be very distict from real characters (e.g. it should be "Kite (Twilight Knights)"), and use a spdcial infobox indicating their AI log clone things with a "persona" outside of the game but don't truly exist and aren't the character. All incomplete paged or pages for material not released in English should be tagged. The weird (and often wrong) "romaji" for stuff should be revised or maybe removed. There are so many problems at this point caused by overenergetic users that will take a lot of energy to fix...

Rebuild it from scratch!!

Save all the info an pics but the framework frankly never has been that great imo.

Looking at the main page makes me wanna just redesign the heck outta it myself lol. Why is the .hack//Media section set to collapse/hide by default?? Yeah its big and long and the tables are super uneven but that's the kinda content people'll be into looking for straight up! Knock the font sizes down a peg along with the cellpadding/spacing for starters! For "Other Games" dump the card/web distinctions. Its 4 items and only 1 of 'ems under web, totally needless sub-categorization @_@;

"This wiki contains a number of spoilers relating to the .hack universe. Read at your own risk."
Don't this go without saying? Well even if it oughta be kept plop it at the top of the page!

Axe the "Featured Article" thingy! Its a whole lotta space being taken up for a whole lotta nothing! Dump "quote of the moment" to or squeeze it into some of that big empty space the wiki logo(?). How do ya even update the ".hack//*month*" thing anyways and does it even get updated? I really do like it in theory but its just kinda there an not living up to its potential. Plus having "October" followed be ".hack//October" is redundant lol.

Also I or somebody should make a property Category:Games page. I mean the page does exist (http://dothack.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Games) but it doesn't actually list the games in a format (or at all) like the ones for anime, manga, etc.

btw is the wiki married to GREEN and SLIGHTLY LESS GREEN o.o?

edit!!
I took the liberty of copying the wiki's source of them main page an then did some tinkering with it!

http://www.neo-prosperity.net/LindzChan ... /wiki.html

There's some of my ideas how it could look a bunch cleaner an stuffs. Didn't really go into color changin' aside from alil yellow/goldish which kinda reminded me of G.U. Vol.3's cover color in place of some greens. Should go without saying not ta bother clicking anything on this "mirror" main page cause it won't lead nowhere!

The wiki does need work. In terms of looks I was thinking something like these.

http://www.ssbwiki.com/
or
http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Main_Page

BTW I know awhile back many wiki's split. Personally Wiki > Wikia in most cases but I'm sure people shall figure something out.

http://www.ssbwiki.com/ vs http://supersmashbros.wikia.com/wiki/Smashpedia

I was wondering of how many Administrators are in the .hack//Wikia so far? Shall we add about two more admins? If so, shall we require applications to whom fit the role to edit?
