That's because hes a anti-hero. Hes suppose to be bad and if you ask me, that rocks! ALL HALE THE ANTI-HERO!!!Lavender wrote:Dont u think haseo's personality is way DIFFERENT from any hero character?

Totally!
That's why I love him so much! He just so snarky and sarcastic, yet tries not to be too hurtful to certain people at the same time, I just love it! See, I love Atolie to pieces, but when Haseo snapped at her for being so annoying, I couldn't help but be glad that he did it, cause I was getting pretty ticked myself.
Though I have to say, one of his best moments is what me and my friends like to call his "Pouty face", that he gave after he saved Pi by Data Draining her after her Avatar had been infected with AIDA. She was "unconcious' and Haseo was yelling at her to wake up, and she looked up and said "That''s the first time you called me by my name" I loce his expression right after that!

I find Haseo to be refreshing for a main character. I get sick of all those everyday 'I gotta save the world and be nice because it's the right thing to do' sorts.
You know who else is like that? Artemis Fowl. ::Snickers.:: It's a book series where the main character is actually a villain.
XD I bet people wonder why he's so nice on the boards but is mean online though. Haha.

I was expecting him to post a flame on the Apkallu board condemning the player who drew him as a cat.
But yeah, the thing about Haseo is that he's half BADass, half JACKass, making him a BACKass. You see him doing some really cool things, and then he goes and says something that makes him look like a total jerk. It's an interesting character concept, especially for a main character. He reminds me of Kratos for some reason.

Yet still he's got that really nice and good part inside himself.marthwmaster wrote:I was expecting him to post a flame on the Apkallu board condemning the player who drew him as a cat.

Very good character concept indeed.
Kratos is crazy o.o What's worse is that when you've played through the game, you actually think he SHOULD be as crazy as he is.

I suppose he might've trusted Ovan too, but he kinda betrayed him once again by leaving them.Dot-Hack-Rocks wrote:What made him so different about his personality
is that he was betrayed on his first time
in the World. iT MADE HIM NOT TRUST ANYONE.
I especially like seeing him going through a change from that "trust no one but yourself" to relying more on others. He has always been somewhat of a lone wolf after all, but now he's almost always taking people with him and accepting their help.

Yeah, i remember that.Dot-Hack-Rocks wrote:Well. You couldn't really tell if he wanted to
become the lone wolf or not. It didn't give much about him in
the beginning.
Remember when he was playing Atoli in one of the
levels? He was wondering if he had been different if he
hadn't come across the PKers on his first level.
Still, i don't think he ever wanted to be a lone wolf, but him being fairly anti-social combined with the PKers kinda lead to it.
Oh and i even think Ovan's "Become stronger, Haseo" lead to him wanting to prove the power he has gained, thus doing things on his own.
If ever there was an anti-hero, Haseo is it.
Remember Cloud....not anymore(I still love Cloud, but even Cloud had his limits.)
Haseo is much more of a jerk than Cloud ever was.
Example: The scene where he wants to ask Atoli t join him in the arena matches but ends up sending her way.
"Leave.....never show your face to me again!"
Haseo was more of a lone wolf than Cloud was in the beginning
Cloud worked for SOLDIER then worked w/ AVALANCHE, when most of avalanche died, he still had a team around him, tho he had personal grudges and vendettas w/some people that he would try to settle alone.
Haseo joined Twilight Brigade, but was distant from most of the members. Then he went insane and solo after Shino was PK'd, till he as PK'd by Azure Kite. In volume one, he mostly used others to gain the power he wanted to defeat "Tri-Edge"(ie Raven Guild for control of avatar and nfo on Tri-edge; Atoli , so he could enter the tournament), but started to grow into a better person in the process.
Cloud was more willing to accept help than Haseo was in the beginning.
Haseo reminds me alot of Vegeta from DBZ. Didnt care for anyone and really didnt rely on anyone, unless it was absolutely critical(ie the battle w/ Freeza). He'd try to do evrything himself and then finally when nothing else would work..."Fine, ok! We'll do it your way, THIS Time, Kakarot!"

I don't really blame him. Seriously, during that recruitment trip with Atoli, I was mashing buttons to speed up the text. I didn't want to skip on my first time through, just so I can understand what's going on... but Atoli's living in a fantasy world.
For instance, When I played World of Warcraft, I mired at the awesomeness of the landscapes as an artist. I loved it! So unique! So beautiful! But I was also fighting in those areas -- because you can't NOT fight. The high level monsters will hone in on you and kill you if you're sitting around admiring the world.
Had WoW not turned into such a crapfest of retarded quests, I would have kept playing, and when I hit level 60, I would have freely travelled the world visitng all the great places without fear of getting hurt.
Atoli was annoying. really, really annoying.

She's that stereotypical female cleric character that just grates on my nerves, having seen a billion reincarnations of the same character in game after game.
I hope it's a boot up her idealistic fanny if Sakaki does something awful and destroys all her fantasies about how wonderful MoonTree and the World is (cause it seems like he's going to, if she isn't in a coma or something the rest of the series, which I almost hope she is).
Although, the one interesting thing about her is that she seems a bit on the loony side, and not just because she's insanely sugar-sweet.
My favorite Atoli/Haseo scene was when:
she's whining at Haseo that she wants him to "see" her, and he's like... uhh... Atoli, I do see you.... *confused look*
I really wonder about that scene actually... I intepreted it as Haseo trying to say he wasn't seeing Shino in her..circum//FERENCE wrote:My favorite Atoli/Haseo scene was when:

From how I see it, Haseo doesn't WANT to see Shino in her. He doesn't want to be reminded of her in the way he would if he just saw Shino whenever he had Atoli in front of him.
Maybe he should've said that to her that moment ;P
Atoli is quite a deep and interesting character...the game will revolve more around her in Volume 2 so you'll see a good few dimensions that you couldn't see before.
Back to Haseo...
He is rather unconventional, even for an anti-hero. Rather than being the anti-hero that has seen to much and lives in squalor, he's a private school student who's lack of human contact appears to have left him emotionally stunted.
He has this childish absolution in his mission to destroy Tri-Edge and save Shino which I find very interesting, not only that but he is very flawed. Unlike anti-heroes once again, he doesn't treat Atoli at all well, but chooses to use her as a replacement for Shino. Its as if he takes Atoli around to look at her but gets annoyed whenever she acts like Atoli.
This is what I love about GU, as opposed to the philosophical musings of the original games, in which stereotypical hero Kite took us through strange riddles and questioned our ideas of AI, GU is about emotional growth and Haseo is the perfect character to see this occur within.

I agree with your interpretation, but it was Haseo's scared, back-away-slowly-from-the-crazy-girl expression that made me laugh at that scene. He really should have just told her, but I think we all realize that Haseo sucks with sensitive, emotional stuff.
Edit: I was replying to Akunaeru, but I think Umbra's perception of Haseo is very nicely put.
