What compels people to act? Simple survival? Or is it something greater? Are people truly drawn to find out if something greater than themselves are out there? Perhaps it is to find the greater self that dwells inside? None truly know what the goal of the many races of the universe or why they are there, and yet they continue to search vigorously!
Rules:
1. This RP takes place in the universe of Outlaw Star, however two centuries after the end of the anime, so no characters from the Anime will be showing up.
2. Caster weapons are rare antiques, so don't expect to see many of them or find many shells for them. This is also a plot pertinent thing, so keep that in mind.
3: As magic in the raw is an extremely rare power that doesn't exist within the Galactic Federation, mages are from remote planets outside of the Galactic Federation's rule, so keep that in mind when you're trying to add them into the plot.
4: No God-modding.
5: No Power Playing.
6: Obey Forum rules, ect, ect.
7: Try and have fun. ^_^
8: If you are making a mage character, please send PM the character for approval. Reasons detailed above.

Tao Magic specialty: Tao Magic, being based on ones intrinsic realization that one doesn't truly understand the existence at all, creates a power based on how one sees the world after they come to this realization. This power takes the form that best suits how the user functions within the 8 divination of Taoist understandings. Although it's applications are fairly widely used, they are mostly based to martial arts and spiritual projection into attacks.

Magicians: (PM me if you want to make one of these for approval, as they are not only very powerful, but extremely rare)
Name:
Magic Type: Magic, unlike Taoist 'magic', is based upon control of external energies and reshaping them into a form that's most effective for the user. Whereas Taoist magic transforms understanding into tangible power, magic draws its power from the natural world and simply reshapes energy into matter and power. Magic is extremely varied and powerful due to its ancient nature, and only exists in worlds outside of the Galactic Federations control. On these "Uncharted Worlds", magic will be as varied as Tao magic is from person to person.
Also, Magicians can create Caster shells for Caster weapons. Their skill to create these and the numbers they can create is dependent upon the type of magic they use. It is also impossible for most magicians to create Caster Shells Number 4, 9, and 13, because these three all use an extremely ancient form of magic that uses both the magic of the bullet and the life-force of the user to wield, and as such are a generally forbidden kind of shell for magicians to make.
Magic is broken into Earth, wind/lightning, fire, water/ice and Spirit.

What has drawn them into the greater universe: Because Magic only exists truly in worlds outside of the greater sphere of the universe, those who practice it have little, if any, contact with the rest of hte universe. In worlds where magic is rich, the people learn this inherently and wield it as such. The major problem with magic is that the longer a magician is away from a source of magic, the more their addiction to the power becomes obvious. This can be remedied with vials of liquid filled with magic rich liquid or magic rich metals/dirt/ect, however these are very hard to find outside of magic rich worlds.
My Character STarts here:
Name: Zorlo
Magic: Combat-Magic: As a weaker kind of mage of his tribe, Zorlo has spent many years training to learn the secret of Combat Magic, a method of focusing magic inwards in to increase the physical capacities of the mage. Using this kind of magical powers, a mage can gain incredible physical strength and adapts their magic to increase their physical combat skills. The restriction of this magic is that it causes extreme fatigue on the body and exhausts magical power very quickly, causing the mage to suffer from extreme cases of Magic Withdrawl after shorter periods of time than spell-slinging mages.
Rock Armor: Zorlo reinforces his armor or body with earth magic, causing earth (where it's available) to gather around parts of his body and harden into stone, making physical attacks more damaging and reducing the damage from attacks. Depending on availability of soil, rock or other such materials, this spell can either require little magical power to maintain or a great deal.
Arcane Barrier: By focusing spirit magic into a bubble around the body, Zorlo can create a magical shield that he can maintain for about a minute to reduce or negate magic attacks and Caster Shells launched at him.
Green Flame Sword: A combination of fire and spirit magic. Zorlo's spirit causes the flame to burn green. Although probably the easiest of spells for him to use, aside from Combat Magic itself, he tends to avoiding using this power, as he has a hard time controlling the output of the flames once unleashed.
Power of Tongues: By touching a person who speaks another language, Zorlo can gain the information of that language and then, by translating it into his own, he can speak that language with people that speak it.
Race: Dalish: An Elfin looking humanoid from a forest planet outside of the Galactic Forces control.
Weapon: Zanthrias, the Sword of the Arcane Warrior: A sword specially forged for Zorlo on the day before his Acceptance into the tribe as a warrior. This weapon is created of a magically infused metal that better channels his magic through his sword. The sword is as tall as Zorlo, and carrying it on his back while wearing his armor requires the fullest use of his Combat-Magic skill.

Appearance: In his armor: http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb2 ... morSet.png
Zorlo's armor is magic infused and he can summon and dispel it as needed, although it requires an amount of magical energy to do so. Wearing his armor also takes a toll on his magical energy and exhausts his magical power faster.
Zorlo's has short, white hair that sits flat atop his head. His face is relatively plain, aside from the dark circle around his eyes from the fatigue of using his magic and his mental focus to master it. On the bridge of his nose, a tower-like tattoo rises to the middle of his forehead with walls that branch out over his eyebrows and drop down along-side of his eyes and down to the center of his cheek, creating a large building with a tower in the center in image. Also, like all elf-like people, he has pointed ears.
Bio: A man who is setting out on his spiritual journey to become a true arcane warrior. With the gifts his tribe has given him, he is intent on not letting them down.
Opening Post Starts Here!
Zorlo stared at the dark haired man that handed him the sword within the sacred cloth. The Arcane-Warrior took a deep breath as he removed the cloth and picked the sword up. Staring at the weapon quietly for a moment, the white-haired Dalish rose and nodded. "So it is time?" he asked the elder. The man older than his appearance let on nodded. With that, the magical warrior stepped away from the entrance of the elder's tent and headed towards the exit of his homeland.
The man sighed and looked back towards the thick shroud of forest. His mind wandered away from the events of the morning as he looked out towards the horizon. He now had the job of killing the beast bothering the clan in order to gain a title of recognition in his tribe. His lack of magical prowess and control had made him incapable of being a priest or a mage by trade, and he lacked the necessary skills to be a chronicler, so an Arcane Warrior, the lowest of the castes of his society, was the one he found himself in. Now came the final test. He had to prove himself with his sword.
Taking a deep breath, magical energy flowed from the man for a second. IN a flash, golden armor covered his body, the helm appearing in his hand as he stepped forwards once again. "I have to destroy this plight..." he said, recalling that his foe a Manticore. This would be dangerous, but if he succeeded, he would be a renown Arcane Warrior for his tribe, when war came again. "I cannot fail!" he stated as he started off. The creature was near. His tracks and the damage to trees and branches made it more obvious. "Well, at least it left a path. I hope it's wounds haven't fully healed by the time we meet, otherwise this will be very unpleasant."
