MS Saga: A New Dawn

Post by Haseo-Skaith »

Another find in Gamestop. I saw the cover which had a Gundam and a Zaku in the background so I figured it'd be a good buy.

Well it doesn't seem to take place in any one universe in the Gundam searies's. It takes place sometime in the future after a destructive event called The Great Fall in which 90% of the worlds population dies when a system called the G System overloads and destroys the earths serface. Now a hundred or so years latter and mankind is still rebuilding and trying to reclaim the lost technology from before the Great Fall. Some G Systems are still functioning and are used to create mobile suits and other things. But they look more like the Super Deformed Versions of classic mobile suits. They're still pretty big, but they look like dwarfish versions of the anime mechs.

The Story revolves around a boy named Tristan who creates a GM at a G System in order to find the people who destroyed the orphanage he and his friend Fritz grew up in. Allong the way they make new friends and find a mysteriouse girl name Aeon who has not memory of her past besides her name. So the story is about getting revenge and saving the world when they find out that someone is plotting to make another Great Fall.

Despit the SDised Mobile Suits it was a pretty fun game. You can customize your mechs with variouse weapons as well as swap body parts and armor. You can create mobile suits if you have at least 50 data disks for that particular mobile suit and an item called an ESCAP(L) and go to a G System.

And there are Gundams. It has a mix of the UC Gundams, Gundam Wing Endless Waltz, and G Gundam. You can get the Original Gundam, Gundam Mark 2, Full Armor Gundam, Zeta Gundam, ZZ Gundam, Nu Gundam, Wing Zero(though they just call it Wing in the game), Deathscythe, Heavyarms, Altron, Sandrock, Shining Gundam, Burning Gundam, and Master Gundam. Not to mention a whole plethora of mobile suits you can create from Zaku's 1, 2, and 3, Death Army, Guncannon, Hizack, and others.

But there are some rather common Gundam elements in this game. Like for instance there is one guy that wears a mask. The main character is a teenager, but he doesn't seem to have the mental issues that other pilots in the Animes have, but his eyes are different colors.

This game has some elements that seems to be disapearing from RPG's these days. Like having a real world map were you can explore instead of just going from one area to another. Also you can actually control the ship you eventually get to fly around in and explore more, instead of just choosing a destination and going there automatically. But on the downside there aren't very many voice acted scenes. So its mostly just text on the screen.

All in all this was a throughly enjoyable game.
