ok...ive just found out all about the haseo sora thing and personallly i dont reallylike it. i dont have a concrete reason as to why it just dosent feel right to me. people have been debating back and forth on multiple threads and the facts remain the same. but i'd like to what you guys all think of it whether you like or dislike that particular plot twist. so go at it everyone.

I really don't think it makes a difference. He doesn't remember being Sora, so anybody who doesn't like Sora won't be bothered by it, because it won't show any flashbacks of him. What's your reason for not liking it?

it's personal opinion,and I know it came as a shock(I honestly didn't beleive it when there was no evidence) I got used to it,and Sora was my favorite //sign character anyway.
It's actually kind of cool that //sign spawned our great hero Haseo,when we all thought it was only about Aura being awakened(among other things like character development,but Aura was the biggest objective of it.)

This is stupid. Jyotaro Amagi already stated that the character for Sora wasn't going to play the World anymore. That means R:1 and R:2.

does it really matter? We have quite a few new characters. Besides intertwining the story between characters and motivations has always been a part of what made dot hack so great. i know there are some people who take a personal liking to a character and when something comes to mind that doesn't fit with thier own idea of what the character should be they will fret. its normal. at least to myself, personally, it makes perfect sense and it is all the more sweet because of the connection. Also they keep revisiting certain characters because they had major roles in the last series. well you could say they had minor roles back then, but to further the story, Namco Bandai decided to focus on the consequences of those characters minor roles. Specifically Sora-Skeith-Ai Sora> Haseo.

I nolonger care if Haseo is Sora because in the end ,Haseo is Haseo and thats all that counts in G.U

Yeah what's the big deal. Haseo's memories of Sora are apparantly gone forever so aside from his connection with Skieth that's all that left. He might as well be a new character. I mean nobody except maybe Yata knows or remembers him from back then. It's just another interesting little point, and without the Perfect guide we probably never would have known thats how little it was hinted.

I hate it, but not because of Sora. I already didn't like Sora and Haseo(coincidence or not).

I hate it because they used amnesia as a plot device. Wow, how original. They essentially assassinated Sora' character, since all his contribution and development in SIGN, will be conveniently forgotten. Character resets are lame. Sure make Haseo=Sora for all I care, but I'd think the writers would do better than actually use amnesia as an excuse.

I honestly didn't care. If anything it makes things slightly more complicated for what I'm working on...

Quit'cher bitchin' people! For all we know they may have had this plotted out from the beginning of of the .hack//G.U. project. He's essentially a new character, so it doesn't really matter anyway. And while amnesia may be a bit of an overused plot device, in the most common cases in stories a person's memories will come back, but Ryou's memories of his character Sora from R:1 are gone forever. It's doesn't even mean that if he were to get the memories back he would just start acting like Sora, and start PKing people left and right.
