Saving's not required in the World. That was a gameplay element added into the .hack games to add a saving feature, while the World, like most MMORPG's, saves data as it happens in real time. I seriously think Tsukasa is level 5, but he was so boosted up by Morganna's power that stats were useless to him. He transcended them and fought in real physics. Instead of hit points, he suffered wounds. Instead of having stronger attack points, he just had to cap a guy in the knee. And so on and so forth.
As for Sora, he's speaking in l33t speak, an internet language using numbers and symbols to be funny and original. An example would be "pwned." The developers put it in the North American version of the game to replace Sora's little noises he makes. "Chii-pooing."

i'm not sure if i'm right or not, its just my opinion.
on what i think is the first episode when sora is introduced and he kills BT. BT says to bear that she had lost an hour of her hard work because of him.
this gives me the impression that they do have to have to save their data.
although, as i said before, its just my opinion.

I'd say in Episode 1-3 he was at least level 30-40. 4-13, Macha apparently made a comment that caused Tsukasa to say "I see... A level like this isn't really worth being protected." Which leads me to believe, Lvl 60-70 at least. When he dies he's probably back at the oiginal lvl. 30-40 (Since we ave no idea if he can save.) Though it seemed Morganna made a fatal flaw when dealing damage to Tsukasa, which was the growing accustomed to pain. Pretty much making him virtually a "God" Though that would not have stopped Skeith but, eh. That's enough for now.
I'm sorry to repost this, but once again it is my feelings on the actual case, it may seem a little selfish, but if possible I would like feedback, if this sort of thing is not allowed then just delete it then.

Because she´s a hacker....
As for Tsukasa, i think, he´s at lv. 5 (the AI copied that level after the events of //SIGN where Tsukasa was able to log out without saving anything)

Ah, right I forgot about that, lvl's were most likely meaningless to him, but what about that comment that "A level this high really isn't worth protecting, hmm?" As well, I'm sorry to contradict you AuraTwilgiht, but there is proof in the show, of them speaking about saves on multiple occasions, not sure why that is, it just seems to be, which made PKer's that much more annyoning.

Well, if your going game wise, remember that the Tsukasa in QUARANTINE isn't the real Tsukasa...remember? So, anime wise, probably gonna go with a level 45-50.

But, the fragment data of the Tsukasa in the game is a memory of the Tsukasa in the anime......why wouldn't he have the same level if this is true?

"Around level 50" sounds a bit high, since he never even went to Carmina Gadelica or higher, and Orca starts at 50... I'm guessing he's more like in the 20s or 30s...

Yes, I agree with Kuukai.
To me, I think Tsukasa would be around level 15-25.
Well, I guess I could agree with that.....doesn't matter for me, when I get him he is still such a low level that I have to train him if I want to use him later.

My guess is not very high. I mean look at the episodes. He has trouble fighting, and the only times I seen him won fights were from his Guardian... What I think is above 5, but no higher than 15 atleast...

You must keep in mind, he was able to square off against Ginkan pretty evenly, before he was knocked down, but that was probably because of being a wavemaster, not because he lacked in levels.

Not to mention that being in the game. fighting is harder for him. He can't press buttons or input commands. He has to actually raise his staff and swing it hard enough to hurt someone, and figure out how to cast magic and do it properly, and not to mention he can't just select a healing potion to recover in a few seconds. He'd have to actually take one out of his limited sized pocket, unpop it, drink it, and wait for it to take effect.

The way he produces a sprite ocarina instantly out of his pocket in the first episode makes it look like it's not so hard though. Also, I was reading earlier posts and I agree with the Tsukasa not saving theory. You
do have to save in The World, they say it on multiple occasions. It only matters if you die, but well, lots of people do...

The AI copies in the games were very accurate and matched up well with there characters and Im sure they're right. Those three characters AI copies had there levels copied as well as theyre character class and design because other-wise they'd have all just been the same level as each other. Tsukasa chose not to fight in the game and anytimes he did they were pretty pathethic. Level 5 sounds about right. Subaru was weak at the start of the anime but through the course mof it she stated she had levelled up a little to try to protect Tsukasa so she got to level 15 from something more Tsukasas standard. And Soras is known for being a high level player and hes also the only one who matches Crim so hes level 90. And also its said a load of times Tsukasa is low level.

Tsukasa was at a low level in the anime, probably level 5 like in the games.
I recall an episode where other players are walking around Mac Anu, gossipping about a wavemaster with an invincible monster in tow. They all speculate him to be at a high level. This does not prove that Tsukasa was, in fact, at a high level.
The Crimson Knights also mention that Tsukasa was at a lower level in the anime.
The fact that Morganna even gave him the Guardian adds to the probability that Tsukasa was at a lower level. Why would he need an invincible monster to fight for him otherwise? Why would he need that level of protection?
Also, we do know that Sora was always at an extremely high level and Subaru was at a low level like Tsukasa. This is also shown in the games, as destai pointed out. Actually, wasn't there a point in the anime where someone actually mentions Sora's level to be ninety?
Taking all of this into account, I'd say Tsukasa is level five in the anime, just like the game.

Hmmm, I was wondering why this topic was so hot.
I'm going with the game theory, that the AI copies in the game reflect the level of the characters at the end of the anime. But, the save theory is also a possibility for Tsukasa, that after the final episode of SIGN, he lost all those levels because he could never save (no memory card or anything, after all). In an episode of the anime, some characters did mention that Tsukasa was using his Guardian to beat monsters so he could level up. So, I won't deny that theory, it sounds very plausible.

Hmm, but what about the line Maha "says" to Tsukasa, Tsukasa replies in tone with, "My heart? I see, a level like this isn't worth being protected." He had tp be far past level 5 for Maha and Morganna, to encourage him to not use the Guardian.

I don't remember that line as being, "I see, a level like this isn't worth being protected." I'd have to watch the episode again, but if it is that, there could be a misunderstanding. Just because he says that, doesn't mean he was at a high level. Although, of course, it could mean just that for all I know.

I believe it was episode 5, near the beginning, right after Subaru and Crim talk.
