Hayate nodded, his eyes flickering around at "abomination".

The sound of Hayate's arrival piqued Kenpachi's interest. "Jacklyn, get back to Kiva. We'll be heading out soon by the sounds of it." He handed her his half finished soup. "By the way, you're driving today." He jumped and his mind blanked as reactions and muscle memory took over as he made his way over to where Hayate had landed. He watched in silence and crept along the edge of the roof until they made it to the vehicles. He hopped down behind Hayate and slowly rose from his crouch. "So, Hayate, what's a soldier like you doing out in a wasteland like this with a bunch of freaks like us?"

As he broke the silence all of the thoughts he had been suppressing came rushing into his head. Hayate certainly was tall and Ken was still trying to figure out how he had gotten so close to them without him noticing. He could theoretically be a psychic and had just not wanted to be noticed until then, but Jacklyn should have said something were that the case. He could tell from the way he carried himself that this Hayate character had similar strength to himself. But unless he was a trained assassin it seemed unlikely that he would have been able to sneak that close, and even then not many of those still carried their dogtags, and none would have brought them with them to assassinate anyone unless they wanted to get caught. So whoever he was he wasn't here to kill one of them, probably. Something about this guy was putting Ken off, he couldn't place what it was though and it wasn't how he got so close to them.

Hayate glanced back at Kenpachi. His form flickered, still stabilizing from the distance teleport, quite possibly having broken the planar boundaries and entered another Earth, obviously quite different from his own. "Wandering." He answered, a frown crossing his face as his powers kicked off fully, both his teleportation and Aetherkinesis binding up.

(Alright, wasn't sure if I should post this or not. I didn't intend to give Hayate a vehicle with an AI. The Sword he's carrying around is... possessed, for lack of a better word, so that's his equivalent... So, character sheet for Ascalon.)

Jacklyn heard what Kenny said taking his can of soup and drinking the rest of it. She blushed a little as she did this. "It's like kissing him." She said as she giggled. After the soup was gone she was about to go back to the truck when her eyes fell upon Hayate. " Kenny; get back!" Jacky exclaimed as she jumped into the air and landed behind Hayate. She then put her hands firmly on the back of his neck and started to read his mind. Now we will see just who you and why your here. While in this hold if you move, i cut blood to your brain! Jacky thought with a grin as she read Hayate's mind.

Hayate froze. Should I? came the voice from within his mind.

Jacky let out a gasp and she let out a screech and she ran and hid behind Kenpachi. She was rocking back and forth. " He is not alone in there!!! Oh gosh!! Kenny what the heck is Hayate?" Jacky said as she was there shaking. A lone tear went down her face. " Kenny I'm scared. May we leave now?" Jacky said as she whimpered in fear and hid her face in her hands. What is wrong with that boy? Jacky thought as the color drained from her face.

The flickering of Hayate's form caused Kenpachi to raise an eyebrow and he was about to question it when Jacklyn broke into the conversation. But rather than get back when she said to Kenpachi took up a defensive stance. He wasn't really sure what to do when she jumped on Hayate's back. This guy's new and she didn't seem to have difficulty getting close to him of course it seems like she's in combat mode, but still and just now she ran behind me. What the hell's going on?

When she ran behind him his hand instinctively found it's way to his blade and his eyes narrowed. "Yeah, we can leave. Soldier." Kenny nodded a farewell to Hayate before turning around. He noticed his hand up on the hilt and lowered it. He wrapped his other arm around Jacky, ushering her to the truck. Kiva popped up as soon as they got in. "Making friends, I see." "Pull up the route for me." It took some work to get his arm back from Jacky so that he could pull his headset on and start the truck. He looked over at Jacky and shook his head. So much for that nap.

"Mike. Hibiki. Jacklyn and I are going to get going. Let me know what you find out about our new friend, Hayate. Something about his mind freaked Jacklyn out." What did she mean by not alone, does he have a split personality? But she shouldn't have reacted so violently if that were the case.

[Haseo{Terror of Death}]

Hibiki looked towards Hayate and shrugged, "He seems fine to me..." He got up to make a visual interrogation. "Nothing out of the usual...just tall..." He said making notes. 'He's not alone in there?' Hibiki pondered the thought and decided for himself to read Hayate's mind. "Hayate...where'd you say you came from again? I'm not from Haven either...I'm quite far away from here..." He closed his eyes and delved into Hayate's mind, his tuning fork, in the case of an emergency.

Hayate flinched slightly as Ascalon responded. I wouldn't do that...

[Haseo{Terror of Death}]

Hibiki responded calmly, 'So you're a psychic as well? Interesting....Do you always disguise your voice? It sounds much more different than talking to you in person...', "Or are your thoughts just in a natural accent?" Hibiki said backing away, reopening his eyes. "You seem quite unique indeed, much different that anyone here." Hibiki sat back down, "Tell me about yourself, and let's share our knowledge as allies..." His voice became less passionate, preparing for any note or brutal stories, 'I wonder how old he is...'

Hayate blinked, looking around. "Let's see. I'm an Aetherkinetic and Teleporter. Former Guardian." He grinned. "And the person you were talking to in there wasn't me."

Nothing made sense to Hibiki, 'Aetherkinetic? Teleporter? Guardian?...Are these his abilities?' "So then...wasn't you in there? Then who was it?" Hibiki raised an eyebrow, intrigued by the little fact. "Sharkie! The sun's up! We goin' yet?" Wes said bucking and stretching his legs. "No, not yet..."

Hayate tapped the hilt of his sword. "It's name is Ascalon. It's... A spirit, for lack of a better word."

"Ascalon?" Hibiki looked at the sword, "So....it's similar to the AIs?" He looked back to Wes, "My AI is Wes, he's similar to a spirit too." Wes's hologram bowed respectfully at Hayate, "'Sup man!" Wes grinned childishly and returned to his screen, "But your AI shares your thoughts?"

"Close enough." Hayate grinned, nodding to the AI. "There are a few advantages. I can speak and understand pretty much any language, I'm one hell of a lot faster in a fight than normal, I heal faster than your average person, and injuries that should kill me don't." The grin spread wider. "People tend to freak out when you get up from having your neck snapped, not to say that forcing that to heal doesn't hurt a lot."

Jacky turned to Kenpachi. " Who was that man back there? He had something in his mind...but I am not sure what he is. Do you know anything kenny?" Jacky said as she stared out the window. His mind had another entity in it. But what exactly was that thing? Jacky thought as a shiver went down her spine.

"Not someone many could afford to put out a hit for and only the foolhardy or desperate would take that job, if I'm any sort of judge of capabilities. Beyond that, you seem to know more than me. If he's got something in his head, then I'd have to guess either a split personality or an experimental implant. I'd heard rumors of such things, to help defend against the odd psychic, increase odds of survival when getting your soul ripped out, or allow for a greater skill set, but I don't know of any that had been successful. The biggest problems of those were the two personalities were either in constant struggle for control or one wasn't strong enough to coexist with the other. After the treatments those that survived often ended up in a vegetative state or were completely different people. If he's a successful one of those then I would be very concerned about what he's capable of. The technology needed to successfully do that should be beyond what we have at present so whoever funded that procedure is either a genius with too much time on his hands or has access to resources that are beyond the government's and believes that a single soldier is worth what could be used to train and maintain an army." "You seem to know a lot about this, Kenny. Were you a subject or something?" "No, but my boss thought I might be able to survive the operation, but not enough to risk one of his best hitmen. I followed it relatively closely as I didn't want to get surprised by someone like that on a job. A little girl you opted not to kill turning into an expert martial artist could cause a lot of problems and possibly get you killed."

Hm, now that would be interesting. A human shaped abomination. Well, why wouldn't they? If they're a cohesive force then it would only be logical to put out some undercover agents. Question is, if he is one of those then is he the only one? How many and who else could be one of them? Does a simple switch need to be flipped for them to turn? or would they be fully aware of what they are? Why not both? The latter would be more dangerous because if we, assuming I'm not one of them, discover those then we might develop a way to detect the others. Unless we are the others. Kenpachi shook his head. None of that's my concern. All I need to worry about is keeping all of us in this group alive for as long as possible. Which hopefully will be long enough to get this job done and maybe even back home. I still have that car waiting for me after all. "Hey, you feeling alright Kenny? Headache maybe?" "No, Kiva, I'm fine. I'm just trying to figure out how soldier boy got so close to us." "Oh, well Wes has been sharing with me what Hayate and Hibiki have been saying. It seems Hayate claims that he's an aetherkinesis user. That's someone who-" "I know. It's spatial control. About as bad as dealing with a psychic." Kiva made a pointed coughing sound, which Ken didn't register. He was trying to figure out how to deal with Hayate, if he needed to. So Kiva said it for him, "He means fighting one. He has nothing against you of course, Jacklyn."

As fascinating as the events of the morning had been Mike still couldn't really bring himself to care more than only slightly. As far as he was concerned there was another person traveling with them now and he would have to looked after until his skills could be judged. With a quick motion Mike stood up and dusted himself off before grabbing his helmet. Despite not caring Mike was still curious about this 'other' voice inside Hayate's head so he poked around to see if he could ellicit a response. 'Am I truly that interesting to you people?'. Mike laughed as he put his hemet on, "Ok, you know what? I like you. Or at least one of you so far." He said as he closed the face sheild of the helmet.

Lilith yawned and streched as she appeared in Mike's visor display, "Good morning." Mike made a face as Lilith appeared to shake off drowziness. "What?" "Nothing." "Hmmm .... Oh! Right! Ken left a message for you. He said he was leaving ahead of everyone. He also asked that we watch Hayate and try to see if he has any ulterior motives." "So he was the one I heard pulling away." Mike started the bike and gave it three good revs. "Lilith, open a channel to Hibiki's A.I." "Yo! Whats up tall dark and gloomy?" Mike Ignored Wes' comment. "Let Hibiki know that the new guy will be riding with you two. Otherwise hes gonna be walking." Lilith cut the communication as Mike gunned it and tore out after Ken and jacky.

"Hey Mike." Lilith attempted to get Mike's attention only to be ignored. "Mike!" She shouted his name and was still ignored. "MICHEAL BARTHOLEMEW TAYLOR!" That got his attention. "What, did, you, just, call, me?" The only people to ever call him by his full name were his parents or Yoko. And thats only because those are the only people he ever let call him by his full name. "Sorry. I just wanted to get your attention." "Well you have it now so what is it?" "Well we will be comming up on a low density fractal tear soon. It's part of a secondary mission to investigate these location for possible prime activity." "Low desnity .... What?" "Think of them like mini rifts. They happen all the time but arnt NEARLY as dangerous." Lilith paused but looked like she had more to add, "What arn't you telling me Lilith?" "Wellllll ..... They do kind of attract large amounts of abominations to their unique energy signature." Mike grinned but didn't speak, 'Finally. Some payback.'

"Mikey has set out and is now closing with us." Kenpachi slowed down to accommodate reunifying the group and double checked the route displayed on his hud, it looked like they were heading for a fractal tear. It took him a moment to remember exactly what that meant, but when he did he decided to contact their fearless leader, now that he was awake and moving. "Alright, open up a channel to good old Mickey Mouse for me please." "Comm should be open now, he might not be listening though." "Mike, I assume you know where our present course is taking us. You want to avoid it, or are we going to get some team building in?"
