okay, dubbed Tabby totally does NOT sound like a 40 year old woman! both .hack//Roots and .hack//SIGN have had excellent dubs in my opinion.

I tend to watch dubs more because, I'm in the process of learning Japanese, and what happens is that I'll understand a line, but the subtitle will be somewhat different, which is really fine considering all the things that you have to consider in translation, but I end up thinking about it too much and I get tired. It's easier just to watch the dub.

I totally agree, I would also include Cowboy Bebop and Steel Angel Kurumi as among those anime. I actually enjoyed the english dub much more than the Japanese.

However there was one thing that got on my nerves in the opening cutscenes of .hack//G.U.//Rebirth, The scene where Haseo PKK's Bordeaux's gang, Some of the foley (grunts, deathcries, etc. anything using the voice that isn't dialogue) in that scene was just plain horrible, to this day I cringe when I watch it.

And Naruto.... after he said something (in japanese) say something like "-bayo" (or another word...)
He had an odd SIG line. that could not be used in the US so the changed it.
The term you're looking for is "dattebayo."
An untranslatable phrase that he uses. Instead, Viz Media uses "Believe it!"

And yeah, as far as good dubhed anime goes, The Big O excels over the original voice acting, and I think Samurai Champloo did a very good job as well.
But you'd still have to pay me to watch the dubbed version of Roots.
I MIGHT watch the first episode that is featured in Vol.2, but that's a definite maybe.

Are you referring to the Japanese or English version of that cutscene? I don't recall having a problem with either.

It's just better, since all the time the phrase is positive on the TV, but sometimes I don't know if the word is good or bad. Sometimes when they sub just try to don't say the word.

Did I just say something wrong... if so, well sorry.
My point is that on Japanese, Tabby sounds like a little girl, but the english versions is more mature (I know isn't the same) but I don't like the voice...

True. In fact SIGN was perfect with the dubbing casting. Some other animes, well I don't like it.

It's a cultural thing. Japanese females tend to try to sound all cute and young and stuff. While from what I've seen Western females try to sound mature as soon as they can. Sounding cute and childlike is a sign of immaturity here. They both sound like 16 year olds. It's just one is Japanese and one is American/Canadian/whatever.

The English version, many of the people getting PK'd squeal like little kids excited over a new toy. :/ It's really annoying.

The most that I don't like about the anime is the incorrect tone of voice for the character they are dubbing, for example Tabby. On the story is a 16 years old girl and the dubbing their voice ithat she is talking like a 40 year old woman.
Which is why I wouldn't trust my life with any dubbed anime that's not on Adult Swim.
I've watched the subbed Roots and SIGN all the way through, not daring to touch the English dubbed versions.
Yes, if i isn't on Adult Swim, stay away. I HATE the VAs in Roots, especially Ovan's voice. The only good dubbed animes are FMA, Bleach, Naruto isn't TOO bad, etc.

I was surprised I didn't mind Haseo's voice actor, since I hate Sasuke in Naruto >_<

I like Yuri Lowenthal's voice for Haseo much better than whoever did it in Roots. Yuri is just an awesome VA, that's all. So is Johnny Bosch.

Yeah, the whole "repth" thing is a tad irritating, but hey, just ignore it.

As for good English dubs, Fruits Basket is one of the best out there. I like the English voices much better than Japanese.

Andrew Francis did it in Roots. I think he did a pretty consistent job for it, too.
Of course, though, Yuri is the better. I didnt like his voice for many of the skills he uses in vol. 2, though...

Also, Iyoten and Yata are English Orochimaru's VA, Bordeaux is English Kurenai's VA, and Sakaki is English Itachi's, but before I get yelled at again, i'm sure most of you knew that already.

Wow. That's impressive. You guys turned a poor, harmless poll into a discussion about VAs. O_o And I personally think everyone should be annoyed when Yuri Lowenthal says "Repth".

Honestly, I'm never bothered with Character voices unless it's dubbed after i've watched it in Japanese.

I bought //roots on DVD dubbed, So Haseos voice is very simular to that as in the Game.

I have no problem with his voice, Think it suits the character really.

Repth doesn't me. I never thought anything of it really. It's part of the acting; y'know in the heat of battle and yelling "Repth!".
I'm a big fan of Yuri Lowenthal also so I may be biased.

yuri lowenthal is good andrew francis is ok. takahiro sakurai is aawesome (seiyuu) he sounds much better and in japanese repth sounds like "ripsu" and it's not so squeaky.

edit: you're right. it sounds rushed if your not in battle but in battle it sounds right. so maybe it just depends on when you're using repth.
