Oh, I thought they disabled those, at least for most of them.

Thanks to you guys I've been able to do a video regarding .hack//Link that I've always wanted to do
But I played the first hour and now... I stopped. Because I can't really pass the fact that I'm not able to understand everything, and the few I understand I just can't miss

I'll be really really patient now, but I just wanted to say thanks once again

We gots a problem! Has my journey come to an end after just 59 hours?!
G.U. ep13... to progress the story ya need only speak to Atoli at the Chaos Gate in Mac Anu, but selecting her causes the game to crash and system to shutoff! This is different from the fskit crashing as with that you'd have to hold the power switch up to shutdown. I can talk to other PCs in town, visit areas an other towns, etc but talking to Atoli brings things to a screeching halt and shuts my psp off >.<!
This is totally bad since ya can't progress in the game and cause a good chunk of the currently translated stuff is assumedly tucked away in those remaining Link episodes which start becoming available after clearing G.U.!

Oh wow, ummm... Is anything translated around there? We can try to figure out if there's a file problem...

Atoli's name is translated. Could she be the cause?! I doubt it since iirc she had to be spoken to in a town in a previous chapter an that didn't cause any issues. Translated stuff in this chapter includes the usual menu stuff, items ya did translate, and monster names. Silabus's name is as well, though like Atoli's, his has been in other chapters to. There doesn't seem ta be anything specific to this chapter which is newly translated prior to speaking to her. I guess the obvious first place to look is at her name and specifically hitting circle to talk to her. Pretty weird that this bug tells the system to shutoff while the other one simply freezes it (mostly). btw I loaded up my cleared game save an checked out the reviewable story scenes from this chapter an they didn't cause issues (first one: untranslated, second: translated).
As an aside I popped in my umd and loaded my save file and found that I am able to progress. So I could complete the chapter then switch back to the patched iso to continue issue-hunting, but I'm not sure that's really in the spirit of this playthrough/qa tester roleplay as I was supposed ta purely go through just the patched version of the game o.o?

What happens in that translated scene? That'll help me locate the files, maybe.

As the chapter goes:
Talk to Atoli (game crashes), asked to visit Hulle Granz with her (assuming this is untranslated)
They go and find the last Chrono Core (untranslated)
Back in town...
トキオ: Oh, AIKA-chan!
AIKA: Tokio, you woke up!? I'm glad... ...!
トキオ: You saved me during the "Rebirth", right? Thanks!
AIKA: I'm glad I could help you.
トキオ: Oh, right... Where did I put it... Here is it.
トキオ: AIKA-chan, I'll give this to you. It's the one I got at the Guild Shop.
Gave AIKA "Chim Doll"!
AIKA: Wow, it's okay? Thanks, Tokio!
AIKA: I'll take care of it... I'll put it up right away!
彩花: ... ...Wow, a stuffed animal, you can be thoughtful if you put your mind to it.
トキオ: Oh, right, I got something from the Guild Shop for you too.
トキオ: I'll give it to you.
彩花: ... Uh... ...? ... ...I d-don't wan't (btw typo?) a stuffed animal or any-... ...
トキオ: Here you go, a "Coupon". You can find a lot of deals.
Gave Saika "Coupon"!
彩花: ... ... ... ...
トキオ: Ngyaaa!?
彩花: ... ...Don't do things that prove you're hopeless! Jeez!
彩花: Let's hurry and find the "Chrono Core"!
彩花: ... ...!?
彩花: The Chrono Core reading is in Mac Anu!? At the... ...Chaos Gate?
トキオ: Yeah, if you mean Haseo's "Chrono Core" I already have it.
彩花: ... ... ... ...
トキオ: Peshaw!?
彩花: Tell me that sooner! Hurry back to the Grandwhale!!
Then ya do whatever else ya wanna do in town, if anything, and head back.

Ok, that's m0714040.ccs.
Hmmm... Nope, I thought this might have been bad formatting error, but we didn't translate the part of the script that's crashing. So maybe this is another error that's crashing due to random butterfly effect compressions reasons, like the f-skit list?

Could be! I know nothing of programming so I got no place ta speak! While this and the fskit bugs are vastly different (areas of the game, input methods, some translated stuff versus none, and type of crash) I'd still believe these seemingly unrelated outcomes could come from the same root issue. As for me I'ma keep my playthrough on hold. Going from patch -> umd -> patch could cause untold havoc on the system data & save file which the game reads an could assumedly cause me to find issues I otherwise wouldn't. Besides, in the event you's do fix this with a v0.1.2 or whatever, I'd still start over from the very beginning anyway ta make sure nothing new goes wrong, after checking to see if this parts fixed of course. Until then... good luck!!

Hey everyone, Jun told me that I should probably post this here; I was actually wondering if you guys might need any help? I'm not the BEST with translations but I can do some of it and I'm always up for a new challenge. I actually started doing some of the translations on the english patch myself after I downloaded it and got it all patched in so I know my way around making the general idea of it - I'm mostly a graphics person though so I can of course help with that if you need it and I'm always up for beta testing as a side job. I've also dabbled in creating websites too which I don't know if that'll be of any use but I figured I'd throw it out there. XD So let me know if there is any way I can help. I'd be more then happy to - I love the .hack// series and to be able to get this one in full english would be a dream come true.
Thanks for reading. ^^ Hope to hear from you guys soon.

Currently not, we still have a lot to do before it's ready.

fwiw, once ya speak to Atoli at the Chaos Gate on the UMD/unpatched iso and save, you can then go back to the patched game and continue the rest of the chapter as normal.
Kuukai wrote:Currently not, we still have a lot to do before it's ready.
Is one of the things on the to-do list adding the already translated stuff for 2024 ep.03?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDpedhjdjOA
The first line "To those who kept fighting-" is in the current release but nothing that follows is. Seemed kinda off. Almost like it was supposed ta be there but got lost like so many things did with the original v0.1 patch?

Yup! I never knew if it was supposed ta be or not though that one line being there always made me wonder.
edit: Ya know now that I'm thinking about it, have ya considered dropping a "patch notes" type of thing listing what stuff & where has been translated? Maybe if not for the current one, then the next. It'd be helpful for players to report issues like this if they knew what to be looking for instead of offhandedly bringing something up months after the release o.o
double edit! Since I decided to resume playing for my own reasons, I saw Flügel's name in battle is kinda bugged out. Its displayed sorta like this: Fl■gel. I'll update my on-going post (
http://www.dothackers.net/forums/viewto ... 00#p464967) with a pic of this later.

That's going to be awfully tricky for the first two releases. Maybe after we randomly hash everything out first we can keep better track of untranslated->translated parts. We'll try to keep track of actual errors we somehow fix. But every single translation problem you point out we'll try to get into the next release. We've already fixed both of these, hopefully, for the record.

Blah! Just got a crash from attempting to use a Word of Spirit. To be more exact this was after using a Word of Vigor. Went into the menu to use the WoS, hit Circle... and the game freezed! Same type as the fskit one where system buttons work and ya gotta hold in power to shutdown. I tried replicating this, same save file / area / UPC, but it worked fine the next couple times I tried so I dun think I can narrow this one down. Could be an issue with the item menu or Mistral. She was upset at Tokio used the WoV on himself but to think she'd crash the game outta spite?!

So far it seems the freezing occurs at random intervals. This makes me believe that it's a data compression issue. Perhaps problems in reading the data are causing power spikes that overload the CPU. Because the PSP is a dedicated system and it is set to work a certain way, it's not good at allocating resources when things change in an irregular way. It's hard to say until we know more. It may require a few tests to find the exact issue.

Nooooo it happened to me in the final battle while reaching into the menu to use a Resurrect. I had already successfully used one earlier in the battle so I didn't expect a second one to fail me. Did I mention the boss had less than 10% HP left?? *sob* Maybe I'll wrap this up later... not up for going through all of those leadup battles + the loooong final one again right now >.<
User Beware: Don't use items from your menu if they can be set to your action Trigger (only consumable items which can't be set to it are stat up books) !!!

Ya that sounds like was Jun was saying about before. How the current patches work by being totally uncompressed which expands the data or something? The PSP not liking said "expansion" could be those irregular stuff you mention. Its all coming together!
next day edit!
Done an done at 89:44:21! For perspective my first playthroughs clear time was 64:49:19. So "testing" added about 25 additional hours! ...It wasn't always happy. There were lots of painful parts to. *monochrome flashback of fskit, g.u. 13, item menu crashes* but thanks all the same to the translation team! I grasp the story an gameplay (including advanced virus core farming techniques >.>) a whole lot better now! There's prolly nothing translated beyond this point, but plenty left to do! Gotta see if anything else breaks the game or not!
...Umm....
This means I have to do all three Link Play towers... x_x
Man, forget the font. Someone program a fix for the "time played" bug! We need ta know how long this game *really* is! 0099:59:59 <- those additional zero digits weren't meant for nothing! j/k, this is a fan translation project not a romhack! Will the words needed to unlock stuff through the Link Card make the translation cut for v2.0?
