I didn't like it when the episode was sped up to fit commercails. I can't understand why SIGN ran fine but Roots didn't. I'll continue to watch the series, but I'm going to have to get used to the fast forwarding and the taste of coffee.

That would be Ender, which is secretly
another character for Raeko Seaki(Pi)
Wow so it did seem that Roots got different voice actors, sucks how the episode is sped up to fit commercials though. Although I might be amused listening to a fast Silly-Go-Round : D.
Note: I have yet to watch Roots in english.
i am not shock by this after all ender voice would have to be different or Haseo would remember her and know that ender and Pi are the same... Dont forget that haseo hated Ender....

I was really glad to be able to watch Roots though I was really tired from staying up late. Hearing it in English was a huge relief for me.

nothin brightens my day more than a good psychotic Haseo laugh

OH WHAT THE HELL? The same group that dubbed DBZ for Canada and UK?
I get the feeling they Licensed it before Bandai could. That's pretty cheeky

Licensed? Bandai has the license to .hack//Roots, they just chose to have Ocean Studios do the Recording. Just like Viz chose Ocean Record for Inuyasha.

I think people are confusing various things for "licensed" ._. Like how you have people screaming about "believe it" because it's airing on Cartoon Network.
Anyway, I don't think I see any of the DBZ voices.

I don't know if this has been said before but...
Is there time shifting in the US?
Because then you could watch it at 8:00 instead of 5:00.
If so, then this would be something to check out.

So far there isn't. But Maromi or d5t will let us know if it does.

I saw a very poor-quality recording of the first episode... The sound was awful. ¬_¬
Anyways, what I could hear of the episode was excellent, the dub looks to be first class, just as it was with SIGN. Phyllo sounded quite different but I can forgive them because Russell Roberts is British! ^_^
Ender sounds particularly bad-arse, and while I'm disappointed that Steve Jay Blum couldn't play Naobi, Paul Dobson's voice has quite a growl to it which seems appropriate.
I'm loath to say it, but even Barbie did well playing Shino... XP And Tabby's voice was quite annoying but, then again, she was annoying in the Japanese version so...I guess I expected it to sound very American. XD
I guess I'll reserve judgement until I've seen it with a good quality of sound, and I hope they get a good VA for Gord.

Does he play another part? I mean the guy is in everything.
Also, I think I might of mis-read but are the Roots Voice actors different from the GU actors?

Yes they are, for the sake of not having to fly the G.U. VAs to act for Roots, they chose other VAs. The Roots dub is done in British Columbia while the G.U. dub is done in California, I think.

I just hope they don't jump the time around without telling us like they did with .hack//sign. i remember when .hack//sign came out they changed the time slot around quite a bit. also btw when you say they sped it up do you mean they cut things out of roots?

No, as in they fast forwarded the entire episode, or so I've read.

.hack//BICTIOUS wrote:The Viz manga omitted an important part of Naruto's character, so that should be what's pissing you off.
In the Japanese version of the anime and manga, Naruto ends most of his sentences with "dattebayo". It's apparently a phrase used by Japanese children when they want attention and feel they're being ignored, which suits Naruto's personality. The dub's "Believe it!" is actually a good equivalent.
But why're we discussing Naruto in the .hack//Roots section? :/
if anyone was looking for more insight on this^...
"Believe it" was the best phyisical translation for "dattebayo". "Believe it" was the closest they could get to matching the mouth movements in the dub.
