"No, I just didn't want to risk falling to my death." Kale stated as he put the knife away and knelt by the edge. "And I never said peace. All I did was say hello and you started levitating me over 150 meters off the ground," He gestured towards the big gaping hole in the wall behind him, "and in spite of that, I didn't kill you. Just made it so that I wouldn't go getting carried off by a breeze or otherwise flung off by you. Crazy American." He turned his back on Daniel, apparently no longer considering him a threat, and looked out over the wasteland. "What are you doing here anyways? I thought all of you hopped in your carriers and shuffled off ages ago. Shouldn't you be off in your own country stuffing yourself with pie or something. I'm Kale, a Free Runner, by the way. Who are you? Asides from the latest in over two dozen people to act hostile towards me today, and of those the only one still breathing?"

Daniel grinned and chuckled at being called a 'crazy American'. "Yeah, I suppose I was a bit hasty. I apologize. This whole situation's got my antsy. Been living here for over a week now and I'm not about to let my position here be threatened."

He then gazed at Kale in an insulted fashion. "I'll have you know that despite what you might think of us, not all Americans sit around stuffing our faces with pie. There are those of us who do try to make something of ourselves." More for himself, he added, "Even if we don't exactly know what."

Getting back to the matter at hand, Daniel said, "I got separated from my parents. I had no money, and I was on the verge of a panic attack. To be honest, I was terrified of returning home. You see how badly think of us here in Japan? America has even less tolerance for that which doesn't fit their pretty little status quo." Daniel's words were laced with disgust. "If you're not a heterosexual, picture-perfect human being, your screwed." Daniel shook himself out of his funk and smiled. "I'm Daniel."

Deciding to try to be friends, Daniel extended his arm for a handshake.

Kale glanced over his shoulder at the extended hand, "Nice to not have to kill you." He looked back over the junkyard without taking the hand. It wasn't something Kale advertised, but he avoided physical contact except when delivering violence was required. "Look, Daniel, I'm sure your nice enough, but I just don't swing that way." He cocked his head to the side and watched Zorlo work. He was far enough away that the hammering wasn't painfully loud, but he could still hear it. "You know how long it takes to forge a sword? There's someone I'd like to wet a pair of blades on, once the green haired man down there is done making them for me. And I would hate to make he and his friends wait too long. They might start thinking I'm dead and relax their guards, and then killing them all wouldn't be any fun at all."

Daniel was a little put off when Kale didn't shake his hand. And when Kale had the gall to imply...

"You're an ass. You know that, right? Well, since you have other things to do, don't let the door hit'cha where the good Lord split'cha."

He then returned to his post at his telescope, watching the world go to hell while he stayed safe. 'But apparently,' he though to himself, 'not safe enough.'

Kale smirked as he looked across the darkening landscape, "And a mighty fine one too." He offered, "Don't worry, the really big predators don't come out until it's pitch black. I'll go then. I need to make sure I keep a reaper appeased after all." Since he wasn't leaving for a while yet Kale decided to make conversation and spun around to face Daniel without rising from his knees, "I am curious, how were you expecting me to declare my intentions when you asked earlier? Were you expecting me to break out an easel and oil paints?"

Daniel snorted and gave Kale a mock checking-out before saying, " 'Fine' is debatable; trust me, in America we've got bad-boys like you to spare."

Taking a second to really think about it, Daniel then said, "Actually, I was expecting a friendly smile and/or a thumbs-up. To be completely honest, I don't know. I'm not the type of guy to stay around long enough to look a gift horse in the mouth. But seeing as you and you're friends are the first humans I've seen who aren't don't look evil..." He left his sentence unfinished, as if it were all self-explanatory from there.

"Hmm...... Baked salamander...." she said, drooling slightly before shaking it off to poke at Zorlo body and arms. She frowned, but continued poking for a minute before crossing her arms. "...You're too tough and stringy to eat..." she finally said, pouting slightly before returning to her slight smile as she almost danced away. "I hope Sneaky comes back with something... I finished everything in my pack already..." she said to no one in particular before Zero-Shifting somewhere. A canine yelp and a sudden 'Dammit!' told that she'd probably be eating Doberman in a minute or two.

Zorlo sighed as he lifted up and set down the two swords that he had forged for Kale down and stared at them. I'm giving his weapons superior to that of any made my other waste walkers... but against more dangerous foes, these swords will have a hard time holding up... that... and I had to make sure I couldn't be done in by them... so I left a small surprise for should that man try to turn his swords on me, the swordsman thought as he finished tempering the new blades for his Virtue and Dominion, along with setting the replacement blade for Throne.

I need to finish work on my second masterpiece... the warrior stated as he continued heating the blade and using his powers to sharpen it and adjust the durability, strength and sharpness of the blade. Replacing Cherubim is going to be a task... the warrior stated as he picked the blade up and set it into water, but it'll be worth it in the long run. This sword will be lighter weight and more durable, allowing my high speed to better utilize it effectively. For now, though, I need to wait...

Kale laughed at Daniel's reasoning, "Don't look evil. I suppose you're right, but that doesn't mean none of us are. The green haired guy, sure, he's probably a good guy, but the girl is ruled by her hunger first and foremost, and me. Well I do whatever it takes to survive." He tossed the layers of gray inside his pack, stood and stretched in his sithlike robes, and grinned maliciously at Daniel. "Appearances can be deceiving, you're a perfect example of this, you look like prey, but you could be quite the predator if you put your mind to it. You want a friendly smile, go see the green haired knight smith down there, he's less cynical than I am. Just don't forget to bring an offering of food for the reaper with him." Kale stepped onto the edge and turned to face Daniel, "Be seeing you." And then Kale just leaned back and fell several stories before the cable he was holding onto snapped taught and flung him into the side of the building, which he slid down for a few more levels before he slid in through a gap and disappeared from sight.

Daniel rolled his eyes at Kale's dramatic exit before thinking about what Kale had said. A predator? Him? Such a title would denote the intent to survive at all costs, including stepping on and eating the creatures below him (figuratively). Daniel wasn't cruel or harsh in any way; he was a kind and compassionate guy. He really didn't have it in him to hurt people. But still...

Daniel looked through his telescope to the junkyard, and the people there. It was getting kind of lonely in his tower.

With a last, loud clang, Zorlo set the swords down and looked at them. "Excellent. They're all finished," he stated with a smile as he began to place his own blades properly. "Kale should be back any minute now to get these things. Once that's done, I can continue my traveling and decide what to do next... still..." Zorlo said as he looked at his hands. "That man... I have to find that man... and defeat him... somehow," the green-haired man stated as he cracked his back and looked at Kale's swords. "I hope he likes them."

"I do like the look." Kale announced his presence from atop a pile of debris. He let out a grunt and kicked something down, an improvised sled slid down and came to a stop several feet away from Zorlo. It was difficult to tell exactly what was on the sled in the faint light, but it looked big as a man maybe two and smelled of fresh blood. When the runner slid down the side of the heap and came into view his lips were curled into a smile, dyed the color of blood, and he was holding one arm with the other. He picked one of the twin blades up and stepped away from Zorlo to take it for a spin, revealing a glistening forearm. It was considerably heavier than the knives he had grown accustomed to, but that was good. The weight meant they would be more durable and he could use them for more than just fighting. "Weight's good." Then his eyes disassociated into the starbursts. "Shatterpoints. Lots of shatterpoints. Almost like..." He muttered unhappily and glanced a look at the smith and his personal armory and then returned to the blade. Kale set it back down and withdrew a knife, he used it to tap over two dozen points on the blade, including the fail safe that had been worked into the weapon, and the weapon shattered into many pieces. Kale looked at the smith with a pained expression, "Zorlo, I know you can't put as much heart into these as you do for your own weapons, but I know you'd never shame yourself by calling these anything more than prototypes." His eyes returned to their normal amethyst and he said pleasantly, "I'm glad you wanted to run the design by me before you started work on the actual swords, thank you, I look forward to the finished products. But that can wait until the morrow, I'm sure you're tired and hungry after working so hard."

He put his hand back on his arm and turned towards the sled, "Oh and I bagged us a tiger. I guess they somehow got out of the zoos and started breeding." The hilt of the blade Kale had picked up was the only part still together and that was thanks to the sticky glistening red blood he had left on it, apparently it hadn't quite been a clean kill. "I already took the heart and some other meat I wanted off it, so please share with our host and enjoy it fully, both of you." He said with a wave and slunk off to gingerly clean and dress his wound before he made a vain attempt to find a quiet spot where he might actually get an hour of uninterrupted sleep.

Zorlo looked at the handles and sighed. Well, these weapons had proved what he had pondered. The man had realized the faint quickly. Now, this man had proved himself a dangerous foe on multiple levels. The green haired man tossed the sword into a pile of scrap and started work on the next set of swords for Kale. "Yes, your new swords will be done by morning," the green-haired man said as he began to gather up some more impressive steel and set off to work on making the new swords.

"A lot of work is needed, though. Still, once its done, we can get going," the swordsman stated with a smile as he stood up and cracked his neck. With a roar of flames, Zorlo started his work on a new set of swords. They'd have to be really impressive, lest the man might catch on to the lack of trust the particle master had for him.

Blood... The smell carried far in just the short time it took Kale to shatter the 'prototype' blades that Zorlo had created for Kale. There was a giggle in the deepening darkness as Airelinna appeared in front of him with her normal, slight smile. "Sneaky's back! ...and you smell good..." she said as she approached him, scythe in hand. The wind picked up from behind him and at the last moment, she danced passed him with another giggle. "...but something else smells delicious....!" the Blood-Stained girl finished as she Zero-Shifted again. Metal-on-Flesh sounded out as She appeared next to the massive tiger, scythe spinning, and started literally cutting into the corpse with her scythe blade, skinning it and carving out massive chucks of flesh simultaneously as she did. Another giggle. "So much... " she said to herself as she licked her lips between bites as she slowly decimated the tiger.

Daniel blanched as he watched the female go to town on the raw tiger meat. And this was why he didn't set one foot out of his tower unless absolutely necessary. Looking over at his kitchen closet, though, his non-perishable supply was starting to run low. The former tenants of the suite he lived in had left it nicely stocked. He supposed that if they were rich enough to afford such living arrangements, they could afford to pack up and leave and expect to be able to buy more food elsewhere. Either that, or they'd gone out for a drive and never made it back home!

Daniel had never gone scavenging before, and he wasn't sure if he'd be any good at it. However, given that they people in the junkyard he'd been watching were chowing down on meat...

Daniel grinned as a brilliant idea came to him. Walking away from his telescope, he stepped outside onto his balcony, and concentrated. Creating an appropriate anti-grav field around him, he lifted up off the ground before creating a 'gravity channel'. To put it in layman's terms, he created a current (like a sea's current) of gravity which would cause him to 'fall' forward. He could always alter the course of the current as he was 'falling' as well as the 'strength' of the current. It was in this way that Daniel could fly.

And so, Daniel began falling forward towards the junkyard.

(If someone wants to remark on his approach, you may do so.)

Particles scatted from Zorlo as someone began to approach, drawn towards the irregular gravity. "I see," the particle master stated as he set Kale's swords into the water to cool for a few moments. As he wiped his hands off and crossed his arms, the stranger drew closer and closer as the now unarmed Waster-Walker watched. An odd person that could control gravity. Now today had passed an irreversible line."

"Requiem aeternam dona eis, domine." (Grant them eternal rest, Lord.)

The words flowed as he recalled them from his training... from before his powers... from his time spent in this world before he became the Green Flash and the Scourge of Bandits. Mostly... he recalled back to the man who trained him and the feeling speaking those words at that time towards his slain allies gave him. That man always lived... he was adept at it... was he still alive now? In this hellscape?

Still, the green haired man adjusted his turban and walked over towards Daniel and extended his hand. "My name is Zorlo, and its nice to meet you."

Daniel slowed down his fall before coming to a complete stop, hovering mere feet above the ground. He then dropped to the ground and shook the hand of the stranger. "I'm Daniel. I'm here because I have a proposition for you, your friend Kale, and your other friends here in the junkyard."

"....?" The blood-stained girl looked back from her meal at the descending Daniel, scythe still in hand, as Zorlo walked over to greet him. A giggle came from her as she turned to walk toward him, her blank, dead gaze fixing on the gravity manipulator as she walked and looked him over. "Green Man.... Is he dessert...?" she asked with a slight, bloody smile. "He looks sweet.... Do you taste it...?" she finished.

Zorlo chuckled as he shook Daniel's hand and smiled at Ari and laughed. "No, he isn't dessert. I'm still offering my arm if you're really THAT hungry though," he told her, looking at the man. "She might be a tad odd, but she's a nice girl and a powerful ally. I'd sooner wound myself than let another take up the responsibility of keeping her hunger under wraps though. After all, if I continue my battles, I'll die eventually anyway, so letting her have a few pieces here or there will simply speed that process up," the swordsman stated as he turned back towards girl and smiled.

"PLus, she's like a blood-splattered, adorable puppy. One that can rip your intestines out through your spine, but a puppy all the same," the man said as he adjusted his turban and held his arm out towards her.

Kale let out an unhappy growl as he stepped into view. "I have too much of a headache to deal with your masochistic tendencies right now, Zorlo. And as nice as I'm sure you are I don't have any friends. I just don't swing that way. You're my smith, and I have no desire to engender any hostility from her. I'm going where I should have gone in the first place, a nice, dark, and quiet basement." Kale stepped up to Daniel and looked at him tiredly, "Oh and if, in the future, my smith can't service my equipment because he lost an arm after you didn't listen to my suggestion of a gift basket, I will be seeing you about finding a replacement." Kale stepped away from the group and waved, "Good night, don't forget to lay a bag of peanuts at your feet." When he had been swallowed back up by the night he sighed to himself as he trudged through the dark in a weary sing song voice, "Now I lay me down to sleep, a bag of peanuts at my feet. If I die before I wake, give them to my brother Jake." Kale clutched at the cloth of his shirt covering the small bag of peanuts hung around his neck. "Too bad none of them around to enjoy these, guess I'll just have to keep on living."
