Re: Over, time for new?
We have gotten pretty far of topic. This thread is supposed to be about the continuation of the .hack game series, and were here talking about character significance in The Epitaph of Twilight and there represented counterparts in The World...

Re: Over, time for new?
Well I still think the next game might be about the Twilight Dragon. I mean in mythology most of the time a Dragon is a destroyer or villain in some way. So the Twilight Dragon being Aura doesn't make sence to me, since Aura brought Order to The World and not destruction. If anything it might be something in the Black Box that nobody knows about yet.

No it's not, the Twilight Dragon was a savior, and the only being that could defeat the Wave. This was fulfilled by Aura, who was sought after just like the Dragon during the whole story, and defeated the Wave with her sacrifice.
Re: Over, time for new?
The Japanese version of the Epitaph used the Old Norse words Lios and Dakk interchangeably with "Light" and "Dark". This is where Lios's name comes from.
An outline of the Epitaph found in Analysis and on the CC2 website refers to "Bith the White" and "Magi the Black". The Epitaph as known by Helba and various others in the series refers to "Bith the Black" and "Fili the White". It seems likely that these are the same characters, whose names differ between drafts of the poem.
According to Analysis, Fidchell's Prophecy is also a fragment of the Epitaph.
Fidchell's Prophecy
Recited by the Phase Fidchell the Prophet
Like a frenzied horse that is driven.
An unseen wind of plague shrieks across the border.
Pandemonium, wailing, and stench of carnage fills the air.
There is no place to run. No hope of escape.
Those who are mourned will never return.
The hands of time cannot be turned back.
Notes from Analysis
"Wind of plague" refers to the virus corruption.
"Border" refers to the servers, security zones, and the real world.
"Those who are mourned" refers to the belief that computers are infallible and dependable.
"Epigraph"
From Another Birth Vol.2
The Keel Mountains traversed at last,
we met a dragon that spoke thus:
"Sheraton am I, who interprets the signs.
An answer to my question, give.
If you can, complete my role will be,
and I will leave this land.
Though equally it exists before everyone's eyes,
grasp it not one person can.
Tell me—what is it?"
Answer
"The moment."
Mia's Words
From Another Birth Vol.3
Plaird of the Seven Sisters,
falling in love with a human,
Became a Shadowed One and was exiled from the Dark.
Hence, her name came to be called Plaird the Fallen.
At her wanderings end,
she settled in seclusion in Arche Haokar.
However, those days may not last.
A reunion may come, or may not.
Plaird's form vanishes at the coming of the sign of the Wave.
In the Epitaph of the Twilight, Sheraton is a dragon who interprets the Signs. He asks all those who seek him out a riddle, promising to leave his lair forever should the riddle be answered correctly.
Appearance
Sheraton appears as a Wavemaster with missing pieces.

History
.hack Games
Kite encountered Sheraton in the Protected Area Λ Nameless Seeker's Prarie. Mistaking him for a player Kite sprang to his rescue when Sheraton accidently caused a Data Bug to appear. Only after the bugged monster was defeated did Kite see him for what he was, a Wandering AI. Seemingly unaware of the danger he had been in Sheration calmly asked Kite why he got in the way. He proceeded to ask Kite if he possessed something called "The End", and when Kite replied that he didn't Sheration gated away.
.hack//Another Birth
In Another Birth it is revealed that BlackRose and Mistral were with Kite during his initial meeting with Sheraton. Recognizing his name from a fragment of the Epitaph of Twilight BlackRose later returned to the field and met with Sheraton. When Sheraton asked again for "The End" BlackRose responded with the answer to Sheraton's riddle in the Epitaph. Satisfied with the answer Sheraton disappeared in a flash of light, his data finally put to rest.

You know, all the Net Slum residents from IMOQ have equivalent epitaph characters. Notably Tartarga.

Re: Over, time for new?
Yeah, I first noticed that during my second time through of all the games.
