If anyone finds any crashes that consistently happen at some point in the game, please report them here - sometimes we can change the script to fix them.

Hmm since some stuffs other than the main story has been translated I take it we should be looking for crashes at every point in the game? I remember the install taking kinda long so deleting it an reinstalling a buncha times to check different stuff seems like a pain so I'll stick ta checking with in on for now!

I changed my mind about the install since I never noticed any benefits to having it an the space could be better be freed up for screens! Since I've gone through like everything post-game with the Big T patch, I decided to start a new game for the sake of checking everything! I'll keep this post updated with whatever issues or nitpicks (gonna keep that to a minimum!). Also I'm doing crazy stuff like visiting each spot in town each time you're sent there, talking to PCs multiple times, buying/selling items at the shops, etc. Apologies in advance if this stuffs already well known an ya don't want a big long list of whatevers an only wanna know about crashes going forward!

EDIT: Everything is up to date, a lot of it Kazetrigger already fixed during playtesting. It'll be included in v0.2 Mirage Mutation. (Interesting sidenote, if we have to rerelease that it would be Mad Pierrot. v0.3.3 would be LO, for Orgel's ultimate form. After that the Power Rangers parallel in the game breaks down and we can't just name our second attempt after giant versions of failed bosses... But v1.0.1 would be "Work Mode", a pun on Fluegel's alternate form and the fact that if we're releasing that the first one apparently didn't work.)

While I also like the look of that font its clearly to big for the english translation, at least in cutscenes. I'm guessing theres no simple html-like fix to make the font smaller like changing size=2 to size=1 lol. But there is (unless my eyes are fooling me) at least 1 other font used for stuff like PC dialogue in the field an such. That's good ta hear! I'll keep plugging away until that next update is out then start again from scratch lol. As an aside I briefly tried Link Play to see if anything'd crash there or not but at these low early game levels even the easiest tower is much to difficult so I abandoned that idea quickly x.x!EDIT: Everything is up to date, a lot of it Kazetrigger already fixed during playtesting.

We could experiment and make up tags and test them, but it isn't html exactly, it's different. If you find an example where text is different sizes (more than just two, because in Japanese you can do this with one fontsize: あぁ) or it changes font mid-text then point it out and we can look up how it works. All we know right now is how to do button symbols and color (that last one at least helps). Honestly at this point the cutscenes are totally readable and I don't see a huge problem, for a patch this is spectacular, but it would still be nice to know if there was more we can do.

Hmm, how do you measure that? We are currently exactly 12.19343996% done in terms of bytes of text. More like 20% to 40% if you divide gameplay hours in English by gameplay hours of a standard playthrough of .hack//Link. But however you measure it, all percentages are ultimately meaningless here. .hack//G.U. wasn't 100% translated. Most of the songs were still in Japanese, but that didn't cause a loss of playability. So the quest for "100%" confuses me. XSeed, a localization company, said this game was too long and time-consuming to translate. We currently only have two translators, each busy with a lot of projects, so the central goal here is to make the game 100% enjoyable as quickly as possible, rather than going from beginning to end, translating stuff you already know before tackling the stuff you don't, trying to hit "100.00%". It would be cool to hit total completion including all 400 unvoiced, non-canon, barely-substantial fskits, especially if we get more translators, but I'll be satisfied just to hit "100% enjoyable."
v0.2 Mirage Mutation will be, maybe, 60% of that goal? There's a really high bar for this release in terms of including ALL information you need in order to understand what's going on. We're going to include ChupChopCase.
For v0.3 the focus will be on the rest of the boss fights and the rest of the interesting sidequests. The exciting, original content that wasn't as crucial to the story as what's in v0.2. This one is the one I would advise playing if you want to see everything that .hack//Link has to offer.
When original .hack was released here, it excluded Parody Mode. It really sucked that they did that, but it still managed to become the favorite game series of many here. But consider if Bandai had used the limited budget they had to include Parody Mode... at the cost of Liminality. Wouldn't that have been a lot worse? So right now we're trying to do the equivalent of that, make strategic decisions to release the most of this thing that we can sometime before you're 40. That's another way of looking at it.

^_^ Even if the game isn't 100% completed i'm looking forward to v0.3 to see more side quests, I haven't played the translated game though I hope that the patch includes menu items and attacks xD I've only played alittle of the game to make sure it worked as the game was pre-owned for a good price (Zettai Houi set), I worked out what the health potions and attacks atleast ^^'
I didn't realise there was that many fskits in .hack//LINK, I keep seeing people say that there isn't much plot,explanation or details of much concern in the game :/

There's a lot of plot in the game. It has arguably the best story and more hours of story than the first four games. The fskits are just bonus. Like parody mode. I already translated the one I thought was actually interesting.
On the other hand, partly because of the immense story, the gameplay sucks. It's by far the longest and most excruciating game to play and there's not much to it. Towns are bmps. Areas are redundant as possible. You never have more than two skills. If you figured out healing potions then you have pretty much mastered the system. That's why we did the video project first, because it's not actually that fun to play (that and the fact that many .hack fans don't have PSPs/modded PSPs). People have different tastes, but that's my opinion and one I'm seeing a lot.

Areas are redundant as possible. You never have more than two skills. If you figured out healing potions then you have pretty much mastered the system. On that note even the JP versions of IMOQ could be considered not 100% since they lacked dual audio! Plus when games get localized they'll often have bug fixes and such. I dunno if the JP releases had any issues and if so, they were fixed for overseas release - but still. I hope 0.2 an 0.3 include some juicy juicy character dialogue! Grasping the plot/story is one thing but without knowing how the characters in said story interact with one another the overall thing loses alotta impact. Aww, I dun think the gameplay sucks. Having more skills and a larger quick skill/item menu'd be nice though. There were only 5 main areas but they were kinda neat in their own right by how they evolved over the course of the game. They start out small, then you may notice on a later visit you're taking a different path through it, and by the end you may be completely exploring the full area complete with plenty more battles and stuff. For the people that point to the battle system - you're not forced to play "volleyball"! Like any other previous .hack game you can battle baddies with regular attacks, skills, and scrolls. G.U. battles could be really fun but tell me... how many of those didn't consist of and end in a whole heck of alot of Rengeki's?...On the other hand, partly because of the immense story, the gameplay sucks. An I'm not convinced the gameplay "sucks" 'cause of the story. Just looking at the iso shows they had several hundreds of megs left they coulda filled with more story or gameplay. I think its cause of the system its on and the timeframe of which is was being made/released. Look at the first Phantasy Star Portable for instance. Towns are bmps, speaking to NPCs, using shops, then the switch to full 3d gameplay in missions only - its exactly like Link or rather Link is exactly like it. There's are number of other games that have been portablized in similar fashions. Infact it was kinda a trend to have simple short 5 minute long gameplay sessions being that these games were on portables. An heck, CC2 even through in a token multi-player mode so many other games were also doing at the time! Its very much a product of its time an choice of console. Ya could say CC2 an many others were just playing follow the leader so ta speak.

It's a character-driven story, so that was even important in the video. Link has 5 "indispensible" characters (Tokio, the Amagis, and their lookalikes), so I focused on them, with a little bit of Metronom and Fluegel. You get to see their feelings and motives and how that forms the conflict and resolution of the story. 0.2 continues with the "indispensible" character development because a lot of scenes were abridged by narration. While I want to include some boss stuff that ties into that, it won't be until 0.3 that you really see a lot of Posaune or Haseo, who are still really interesting in this game, but not critical to the story. Things like Kazumi, Beast of the Apocalypse, or human Cubia are cool but they either don't differ dramatically from their source material or can be summed up in exactly one sentence, so those will show up in later versions than, say, ZERO, or even the comedy show where Nuke performs a hundred puns, because that's actually interesting.
We've done some work on it because it's the beginning, but needless to say I don't think the character development in SIGN, .hack, or Roots would be a great expenditure of time, because it's pulled straight from those exact series. No .hack fan needs English to know what's going on.

FFType-0 would have been a waaaaay better RPG to rip off. Peace Walker, which had about as much audio as Link and didn't have me crying blood by the end. There's really no excuse. I tried to defend it before I played it, give it the benefit of the doubt, and I like many aspects of it, but it's waaay too long and doesn't contain the kind of substance to the gameplay that such a long game requires. I have a pretty open mind. But the battle system to this game came second, and recording a legendary audio drama came first (although even that is hurt by the compression they used)

FFType-0 would have been a waaaaay better RPG to rip off. Peace Walker, which had about as much audio as Link and didn't have me crying blood by the end. There's really no excuse. I tried to defend it before I played it, give it the benefit of the doubt, and I like many aspects of it, but it's waaay too long and doesn't contain the kind of substance to the gameplay that such a long game requires. I have a pretty open mind. But the battle system to this game came second, and recording a legendary audio drama came first (although even that is hurt by the compression they used)

I've found some crashes unrelated to my current playthrough. Your previous mention of the FSkits made me wanna go back an check some out again! But when I tried just even browsing through the selection of 'em my system would freeze up. This happened on pages 05, 06, 17~
Pages 1-4 and 18-20 were fine an I haven't checked every page but its possible the whole range of pages between 05-17 are bugged and'll cause a freeze. o.o
