Re: Dot Hack GU3 Redemption Codes

Post by TheSupremeKing »

I apologize for Double Post..

@Satoh When you done the Above Post Read this it's a Test to me!

I wanna do a Character [ a New Code AFTER I LEARN doing a Code I'll make it :P ] I'll do this right..? :

A-> Hackstract '' 2pcm60 ''
B-> Extract the Pic in PS2DIS folder.
C-> Open the PS2DIS Program.
D-> CTRL + O to Open and Open GU3.pis.
E-> CTRL + F to Search and Click '' 2pcm60 '' WITHOUT '' As Hex String ''
F-> CTRL + F To search again and Put : 28 B2 4C 00 and Search. Because the code is: 004cb228
G-> CTRL + F To search again and put : '' Don't know this step Yet.

Is these Steps are correct..?

~ Thanks!!

EDIT: I've just tested myself, and want to see if they're correct.

I don't think you need to extract the picture, myself. But I don't have generics down yet, I've been busy trying to modify classes.

Anyways, I found out a problem with my codes: I don't think Haseo was ever intended to be a spellcaster, despite how the game calls rogues the part physical/part magical job (Honestly, if you ask me, that's the Macabre Dancer!) I've tested everything from Changing Haseo's individual weapons to changing his class itself. However, even if his class actually says "Macabre Dancer" and I hack my skill trigger to have spells, it freezes when I go to an area. So yes, I can sacrifice Haseo's arts for spells, but that does not serve me well since I still cannot skill trigger.

So rather than bash my head against the wall, I'll just force-add Haseo's spells. He doesn't need them all, just the most useful healing and buffs.

...and that's the problem. We still don't know what allows the appointed mage characters to have spells on the Skill Trigger and what's keeping everyone else from having them. Interestingly enough, this doesn't appear to be part of either the SPC actor data or class data. I don't even know what to look for to solve this problem. :\

Here's what might be an interesting anomaly about spells; hack them to the Skill Trigger for Haseo in 3rd or Xth Form (I forget if this is a universal bug among characters), and the game displays a blade symbol next to them. I doubt it has anything to do with, well, anything, but the spell symbols are in the same graphic file, so the game shouldn't be doing this AFAIK.

See, I knew I wasn't insane. I feel better knowing I'm not just sering things as an excuse for my codes not working.

The thing is, I DO believe it's tied into the weapon data SOMEHOW, however. My reasoning behind this is as follows

1) Atoli can cast spells from the skill trigger
2) Using another code, I masked over Atoli with a generic Aina.
3) Aina-toli can cast spells from the skill trigger when equipped with Atoli's staff.
4) Force-changing Ainatoli's weapon makes her lose her spells and she no longer has access to the magic on the skill trigger
5) Giving her a fan or a grimiore ALSO causes number 4 to trigger
6) Sophora can use the harvest cleric skills and the like without even officially having staffs as a listed weapon.

So we have a few possibilities.

1) Each character is hardwired with their magic tied in to certain weaponry. Sophora being the best for testing since her magical weapon is in her coding but is not her primary weapon so she never loses it. This makes sense from a gameplay standpoint since you were only intended to use Haseo anyways, so the programmers did not need to make eveeryone able to use magic on the skill trigger so naturally there are some flaws to the system. The fastest way for me to confirm or disprove this theory will be to change Sophora's secondary weapon to something else, and see if she retains her spells. (For all intents and purposes, Sophora is a high enough Rogue to have all her skills display, not just those tied to her equipped weapon. If I knew exactly where this was in the coding I could fix Generics up a bit better)

2) If my "tied to a weapon" from 1 is proven false when I test it, the answer might be right under our nose. And I have a feeling I know where to look. I'll need to learn where to look for the class data in ps2dis but I bet if I compare the bytes before the skill list bytes, there will be a pattern the mages have that the warriors lack....

Honestly, my game resets to 4x Gale Blade when I'm not equipped with a magical weapon so I never noticed.....

Actually Haseo I guess can NOT be a Spellcaster. The Game always freezes. I guess even if you hack it's Job. Or it's weapons. or even Skill Trigger. If you want to.. Just take Sophora Codes that you've gave me Haseo can use Spells with that. But try to add the weapon of Haseo.

And the Blade Symbol is the Original of Spell Symbol. I tried it with my Shino :3

~~

About the Steps.. Still no one know more than Step 4...?

Come on ._. After I finish How to do Characters I'll try to learn how to hack Jobs. But first Chars. But no body Answering me >_> I know Ranylyn is learning but he's Hacking Job/Weapons/Skill Trigger.

http://www.filefactory.com/file/b0aaa23 ... istant.rar

This file should be the newest revision of the Code Hacker's Assistant.

It should contain roughly 140 models and animations for and can mask over every SPC model.

Let me know if there's any problems. (The last model should be 2sil01 in this version, if it isn't, I uploaded the wrong file, please let me know if that's the case.)

Thanks again, Satoh, I'll be sure to check it out!

(And sorry again, TSK. Like I said I've been mostly tinkering with classes and the like. I'm closing in on my dream of making my own custom party but I doubt I'll actually mass use Generics for it now that I've noticed I need to use the codes every time I play whereas doing things like giving Sophora another sprite actually saves when you save. I mean yeah, I'll use some generics (I'll need to if I want to make the Partizan/Reaper my fiancee wants) but it's not my priority to learn)

Anyways, I just have a few quick questions. Yes or no shall suffice. I just need to know if it's possible. Like I said, I need to manually input my codes due to not having an official codebreaker, and I was hoping to save time spent testing and editing to see it doesn't work.

1) So using an SPC to mask over a PC essentially meshes that SPC's sprite onto a generic frame, right? This is why you can make Kuhn a partizan or even Aina an edge punisher, so long as they do not use Level 3 arts, true? If they used the same weapon type, is there a way to mesh an SPC over another SPC for the sake of the animations? Okay, I'll stop beating around the bush and blurt it out. I really like Endrance's fighting style, but as far as sprites go, I prefer Kaede. Is it possible to set her up with his style? If not that's okay, Endrance works as is.

2) Attack type. I've noticed that the Fan Jasper has a rapid attacks version of the Hold And Release twinblades. I really like that animation. Is it possible to mix and match the actual animations and effects, rather than just the attack type? I've had a few neat ideas, like a Hold And Release twinblade with the broadsword effect (after flying through the enemy, it shoots up into the air) and was wondering if this would actually work or if my control was limited to "this weapon has this effect, enf of story."

3) Non-Haseo story characters: If I change someone's sprite besides Haseo, will the game freeze up if I advance the story? It's really not important but I was just thinking how it might be nice to try to use my customs in the Saga Palace and was wondering if it would work if I at least did not modify Haseo (Or if I did, it would just be renaming him, his class, and his weapons. It would still be his sprite)

4) I tried hacking lost weapon effects onto non lost weapons. The game kept crashing when I tried to go to an area. Is this a sign that lost weapon effects are specially programmed to either only work on the lost weapons themselves, or to only be one-in-effect at once? (I had soul crush and emerald gift on all of Haseo's weapons, I wanted to see how overkill that would be.)

5) About the skill list codes, I've been afraid to test them out since I'm unsure of something. Let's say... Zelkova had 4 arts. If I were to set codes for skills 1 through 4, would it overwrite the arts or is that code list strictly additions? It was labelled something like "Additions, not learned" so I was curious.

6) Is there a way to force "small" portraits next to the HP/SP for characters you do not normally get?

That should suffice for now, and thanks again!

1. No, Kaede cannot be effectively given Endrance's animations. The best you can do is get the motion, with 10% probability of actually hitting the enemy with an attack. Trying to give SPC animations to other SPCs messes up the collision mask something terrible... (I used Natsume's anims for Enju, I could hit the enemy once every 15 or so attacks...)

2. Not likely.

3. I don't think it will mess up, though I've never tried it. The only reason I could guess it would screw up is for scenes that use the low definition model... I ran into trouble with Haseo that way... try it, if it freezes, it freezes...

4. Sounds like a botched code, I've never had trouble with adding effects... except in reminisce since I was trying to use effects that didn't exist in that vol.

5. Never messed with skills at all. I'm plenty happy with the default ones...

6. Sure you can force an unnatural character to have any of the portraits of characters that you can normally get. (There are no portraits for any character you do not normally get. Period.) You can load Silabus on top of Enju if you want, but Enju has no portrait to use.

I attempted the Enju/Natsume fix myself, and that was the source my concern. Anyways, I'll live. I'll just use Endrance's model as a brandier (what can I say? I REALLY like his animations) and use Kaede as a generic for something else (I may like Kaede but her animations make her worse than generic brandiers which is sad)
2. Not likely.
Yeah, I wouldn't even know where to look in the code anyways >_<
3. I don't think it will mess up, though I've never tried it. The only reason I could guess it would screw up is for scenes that use the low definition model... I ran into trouble with Haseo that way... try it, if it freezes, it freezes...
True. I mean, I know that the game does not like when you are not playing as Haseo (Masking over Haseo = Freeze and using someone else = once the event is over you cannot move. But at the same time, some scenes (like Zed using Tabby against the Anti-Existance parties)have led me to believe it may be possible... I suppose you're right. I'll use that Endrance = Skeith code and take him to a story event (I'm at the part where Antares wants to do the Lawless fort quest, so that may not be a good place to test it... unless I turn Antares into someone else....)
4. Sounds like a botched code, I've never had trouble with adding effects... except in reminisce since I was trying to use effects that didn't exist in that vol.
Well, the effects were definitely showing up, it just crashed when I went to an area. Though in retrospect it may have had something to do with how my lost weapons were level 1 while my weapons had the maximum skills.
5. Never messed with skills at all. I'm plenty happy with the default ones...
This is for the sake of my custom characters. I'm kind of working with certain themes. For example, I'll be using Xth Form Haseo's sprite as a Punisher/Cleric (he's dressed in white and just looks like an overall good guy,) but remember how my experimenting with classes wasn't exactly successful....
6. Sure you can force an unnatural character to have any of the portraits of characters that you can normally get. (There are no portraits for any character you do not normally get. Period.) You can load Silabus on top of Enju if you want, but Enju has no portrait to use.
Ah, that's what I was wondering, thanks! I suppose replacing the usual party members makes more sense anyways since I can call them as needed and do not need codes to play them.

Anyways, one last question. Earlier when I mentionned Macabre Dancers and how I was hovering around and doubling in size when I blocked? I'm still having that same error but only with dancers. I was wondering, since there's a grand total of 3 (Yata, Hirragi, and one PK in the first round of the sage palace) if maybe only certain Generic models could use them? Anyways, I'm just curious if anyone knows since I'd rather not use Yata as my dancer (Since, like I mentionned making a unique team, the dancer would be "My" character and I was hoping for a different sprite)

EDIT: Forgot to mention, new theory on who can use spells on the skill trigger. Notice how Sophora uses robes? As do all the mage characters? I may force-change someone's armor type later to test that theory.....

Look at the address just above 0x0092E95C, (0x0092958)...

The value at 0x0092E95C is the 4~ number you searched.... right above that is a 9~ number... "0092E988" I think. That should be the same as one of the other numbers you could have searched...

Anyway, search for 0x0092958 (the address right before the 0x0092E95C address you just found...)

That should bring you to... an address starting with 0x009AA~... From there, look for something that follows a pattern of

00000064
41b00000
00000100...

the 100 is the start of your character data.

0x009AA7a8 00000100

Question: is '' 009AA7a8 00000100 '' is the Current Data of '' 2pcfz4 '' Which it's Kaochin?

Step 5 and 6 Have been found! Lol xD Now All I need is your reply Satohz.

hey, was wondering if anyone could have a go at porting the affection code from hack GU 2 to gu 3? i tried it myself but had no luck, maybe code ports need a diff master or something?

here is the code:

Give Player Gift Max Affection (GU2 Max)
201eb824 200302EE

i'll try again, using the offset here, but u folks are better at it than i am, when i took the code for haseo gold GU2 and subtracted it from the GU3 one, i got a diff offset value....

thanks if anyone can help us out :)

It could be that that code can't be ported the easy way, and the proper address will need to be found for the 3rd game manually. I suggest opening vol2's PRG file and looking at offset 0x001EB824 write down the value, and search the same value in vol3...

then, if you find the address in vol3's data, replace the first digit with 2 and use a value of 200303E7
like so:
20****** 200303E7

And then again, this is just from may basic experience... that may not work either...

Next what to do? I tried to find something But nothing..? As I have hear too it's The starting of my Data Isn't?

I wonder.. o_o

But anyway! My Codes for Gabi! It's gonna almost work. I'm working in it these days. I'm trying to Figure out how it works. But I'm almost it works.

And if I learn the Replace Data and Characters. it will be a LOT! Easier.

Sorry, the explanation I gave you of how to port that code was pure crap... I hadn't looked at the game.prg for reminisce before, so I didn't realize it was laid out so much differently as the modified version of redemption's that ZED made into the .pis... I'll have to ask him how to make a .pis for vol2 before I can try porting it.

It was entirely my bad, and I apologize.

What kind of data are you looking for. The data starting with 00000100 is the start of everything for Kaochin, her animations, her model, her class, her weapon, etc etc... (As far as I remember off the top of my head)

If you're looking her model, it should be the bottom 0092~ value (it should be roughly in the middle between the 00000100 and the 41b00000)

I need to know what you're looking for to tell you how to find it now that you know where to look.

In other words, when you started, I showed you how to find the bookshelf in the library, now I have to know what book you're looking for to tell you where on that shelf it is... Do you understand my analogy?

I knew there was something I was doing wrong... Is there any specific thing I need to do to get the file to line up like the vol3 pis does? or will the SLUS have proper offsets in either case?

I knew there was something I was doing wrong... Is there any specific thing I need to do to get the file to line up like the vol3 pis does? or will the SLUS have proper offsets in either case?
The SLUS opens to the proper offset automatically in PS2DIS, as it's apparently loaded into RAM in the same spot for every game AFAIK (00100000h). In order to get it lined up with the start of the rest of the RAM when combining it with a save dump, what I do is look for the end of the executable file and get my starting line from the last four digits of the final offset (such as 004C#### for Redemption).

However, PCSX2 save states contain the executable already, since the state appears to contain all 32 MB or so of the RAM, so unless you're not going to use emulation anymore (or you're trying to instruct someone who can't), I wouldn't even worry about it.
