I only chose to believe in March 15th because of the reason i stated countless times, in this page included. And the last time this happened, with Vol.1, it all started with people quoting unofficial sources that it would be release 24th October, and so it happened, while B.N. still had said nothing about that release date.
It's been confirmed as false, so we have to stick with B.N.'s date till further news unfortunately

Oh Great.. It's.. Oh Jesus!mr.classybear wrote:Im gunna give you all a release date and i bet it might be right.... JULY 24th!!
4 Days before my birthday. And during the time i get the grades from my exams... What a crappy month. Just to think about the exams makes me think about something like running away from the teachers os something

No but I also know their is no excuse for it taking like like 9 months between volumes of a serilized story when the only blasted thing they need to do is basiclly translate and localize it.
Espcially when their's still a third volume I'm much rather have in 2007 then 2008 thank you very much. If they release volume 2 as late as July then our chances of getting Volume 3 this year would become nearly nonexistant.
At least if they release it in April then we'd probally get Volume 3 by November (another 6 months wait.)
Square Enix managed to bring Kingdom hearts 2 over in like 3 months after it have been relased in Japan. Seriously their is no real reason why .hack volumes are taking twice as long if not more.

Well, the thing is, it's taking longer for them to translate and release the game than it took for the Japanese creators to actually make it releasable (volume 2 came out 4-5 months after 1 in Japan), so I can see where people are getting impatient.
For the record, Wander, I understand your point, I just also understand why people are getting twitchy.

They don't deserve a break as far as I'm concerned. Back when they were a smaller company (eg before Bandai and Namco merged) they were able to translate and bring over the orginal .hack games in a timely manner so they should be able to do the same now.Wander wrote:Of course there's an excuse. Are you the developers? Have you even considered the hardships they might be facing? They want money, why would they purposely be delaying it? I'm sure that in the game development process, publishing process, licensing process, reformatting process, production process, marketing process, and communications between all of these processes is really, really, really difficult. You think you can do better?
Uhhmmm...Square Enix is the largest RPG publisher/developer in the world. They have access to countless game developers and an almost never ending supply of manpower to keep the games pumping. No crap they didn't take long completing one of the most hyped RPGs of it's time. The entire company is built around such tasks.
Give the BandaiNamco guys a break. They're trying their best.
Yes they want to make money but don't expect companys to always make logical decisions. While the game is probally ready now as I type they could be holding it back for nothing more then the simple reason that they stand to make MORE money to release it later in summer instead of March/April.
BandaiNamco might not be the size of Square Enix but they are a huge company in of them selfs and could easily have the game finished and ready with in the span of five months, even less if they started localizing it at the same time the game was being made in japan.
Of course a good chunk of the problem is that they took so bloodly long to let us know when the game was even going to come out in the first place creating a lot of anxity. And when they finally had the grace to tell us. "Hey guys, Volume 2 is coming." they didn't tell us WHEN.
Frankly I HATE being jerked around like that and it's pissing me off. If I at least knew when the game was coming out I wouldn't be half as twitchy.
Go whine to a wall. I think most of us are fed up with all lame arguments aimed towards Namco Bandai. Not too long ago people didn't even think the second volume was going to be released... so they bitched ignorantly. Now the game was announced...and they continue to ****. hoorayKatina wrote:No but I also know their is no excuse for it taking like like 9 months between volumes of a serilized story when the only blasted thing they need to do is basiclly translate and localize it.

Listen man, people don't complain about when the game's going to be released. They complain about the time it's taking in comparison to the time-spwan between Vol.1 and Vol.2 in Japan and the time-spawn between the original 4 parts. Don't you thhink that's just a little bit odd that they are taking twice the time Japan did to release the game?Indeed, they could be adding the new special scene for this version of the game, translating, whatever and ever Amen. Still, a 5 min scene takes 1 month tops to be completed. Game insertion included. So it would be in total like 5/6 months in the worst case scenario. It's been 4 months an 1 week already...

I'm a very big fan of .hack//G.U. myself. Yes, I don't like waiting, I don't like how they say 'Coming soon' and I don't like the fact that they said 'summer release'. But, you know what? You should really give Bandai Namco a break. They're doing the best they can.
For one thing, stop comparing the time span between releases with other games. Those are other games. Even if its the first series its still another game.
Lastly, their is a purpose in why they say 'coming soon'. Its so that the release is more flexible. If they just said, 'Coming <insert date here>' and when the time comes, they say its being delayed, I don't think you would be any happier.
What really made me mad was the fact you said,
What gives you the right to say that? Until you've actually walked in their shoes, I don't think you have the authority to say "They don't deserve a break..."Katina wrote:They don't deserve a break as far as I'm concerned.
Sorry if I offend you in any way, I don't usually post much.

What do you expect to happen when companys don't give people all the info? Of course if they did give us a specific release date that was far off I'm sure that would cause just as much if not more bitching but what can I say it's just human nature to complain about stuff we don't like.d5t wrote:Go whine to a wall. I was one of the people who kept insisting Volume 2 was coming back before they announced it, I just wasn't sure when at the time and I'm still not sure months later which is pretty darn annoying.
Their's plent of reasons to be worried about the long delay between volume 1 to 2 if for nothing else that it sets a bad presenet for volume 3.
If you aren't happy now wait until people start bitching about wither or not volume 3 is coming out or not becuse when they don't annonce it for several months and then watch people **** even more when they don't annonce the release date when they do annonce it's coming over.
I don't know about you but I for one want the entire package before the year 2007 is finished. Japan got the entire GU saga in the span of 8 months. At this rate it's going to take North america over a year to get the entire saga and that's assuming that volume 2 lands in april.
The most imporant thing when doing serailization like this is make sure that the gap between volumes isn't too large, otherwise people start to loose intrest after a while.
I mean how would you like it if we lost our chance to get volume 3 if sales of volume 2 dropped too much becuse they took too long getting it over here? Considering the invesment of both time and money made into the series at that point I'd be pissed beyond words.
Besides the better the games do the better chance we'll get more of the nifty spin off stuff like the .hack gu mangas, not to mention our chances of seeing a next gen .hack if they ever make one.
Ever heard the expersion the consumer is always right? If they don't release the game at this point when it's already finished then it's just a huge money sink to them considering how much it must have cost to localize it. They want money well they can't get it with out a product.
They don't deserve a break? That's the stupidest most ridiculous thing I've ever heard from any consumer about a product developer. What if they said you don't deserve their game?
You know, there was a game that was released once because the fans wanted it early. It was called Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. It was glitchy. Extremely glitchy. So they rereleased it as Star Ocean: Till the End of Time Director's Cut.
In America, the Director's Cut is the one that was brought over. All those impatient and snobby fans got what was com'in to 'em...wasted money.
What's complaining about it going to do? Nothing. I actually wish they would've taken MOAR time on the games to make them better. They still kinda...aren't good.
I'm not telling them to rush the game. But when it takes longer to localize it then it took to make it you know that their's a problem considering localization is far far easier to do then making a game from scratch.
In this case complaining will let at least let them know about our dissatisfaction assuming that they are bothing to pay attention to their fanbase at all.
If you never give a company feedback then how will they know what to improve?
And honestly their isn't much they can do at this point to actually made the game's better. At best we'll get an added cut sceen or something which probally won't be worth the added wait at all.
Well, they are adding a new video for the North American release. That could probably take a lil while. And they might need to work some kinks out still.
I'm actually not that upset about the March 15th thing. The most I could do is go "Awww..." and shrug it off a little. I was just hopeful for it.
Besides, there's nothing worse than waiting for it when it's a mere week or few days away from being in your hands. It is especially horrible when you have to wait through the school day to get over. That was far more hellish than any normal school day. And school is already hellish enough...

Wander the reason I think it must be complete or very near complete is the amount of english videos floating around the net. It's just like what happened right before volume 1 came out.
Each new video that comes out only goes to show that it can't be that far from done since even the new features like Crimson vs and the bike editing look ready.
Plus they wouldn't bother having adds in Febuary magazines if it wasn't coming sooner rather then later.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it will be here sooner than later at this point. But definitely not next week. My Comm Theory paper probably has a greater chance of writing itself due to a freak lightning strike than that.
Although with all this extra scene stuff I really wonder what it could be. It's not like they can throw something critical in there without messing up Vol.3 unless they are gonna have more changes there.
