Yeah, I think that's a known issue for Kenma's patch. They need to go in and change the text in that area, or maybe you can, I don't know how their patch works but you could go to his site and ask him.

Oy...Bummer. Oh well, Thanks for all the help, Kuukai. Really. If you guys change your stance on donations or need any kind of help, don't hesitate to throw me a PM. I do want to help out, I just don't know how. I'm thinking about making some kind of guide or walkthrough for now. But I just haven't decided what kind...

Hey guys. I am interested in doing some translating for you.

I work as a translator and editor for the fansub group Harorangers (www.harorangers.com) and I'm a huge .hack fan, so if you send me some lists of things to translate, I'm sure I could help speed things up a bit. I'm a perfectionist, so I'll make sure everything is translated correctly (I'll let you know if there is something another translator should look at) and I know all the official western .hack terminology. I also have the official Japanese version for reference.

Let me know if I can help. I am in school, so I may need some time to translate, but as long as you don't load me down with tons of sentences or lists of words or expect too harsh a deadline, I can get it done.

My heart aches for this game & It hurts to see this thread inactive. So, more questions!~

During the .Hack//SIGN Era (I think part 8 or 9), you run into Nuke and Rachael giving some kind of performance for a live audience that involves Nuke counting to 100?...Does anybody have an idea of what it going on here?...or their interpretation of what they think is happening? The main reason I'm curious is because there seems to be a decision given to the player every 10 #'s Nuke counts. I've yet to see that (player decisions) happen anywhere else in the game (Yet...No spoilers please! **).

I chose the bottom option (Default), which I just assumed was the 'Correct' one. I ended up listening to Nuke count to 100 and fighting some PK'ers, but not Kao-chin herself. At the end, Kao-chin bluses and admits her(pretty sure its a guy irl) defeat. When I head back to town, Moonstone and Tokio talk, both sounding upset. Did I make the wrong choice?

This probably isn't the right thread for questions about the game itself, but this is something I definitely want to translate eventually so I'll explain it. It's a comedy show where Nuke, with his newfound popularity as a .hacker, delivers 100 (bad) puns. A lot of them will be hard to translate ("Can I borrow this oke? OK!" - oke is Japanese for shovel, kinda hard to translate that one), but one easy example is "The whale wails." The jokes are all "samui" - stale - like Nuke comedy typically is. But that in and of itself in Japanese humor can be funny. And for whatever reason the crowd seems to love it. Some PKs ambush the event but Nuke keeps going because his pride as a comedian is at stake, while Tokio fends them off. Near the end (this is supposed to be funny) the attrition of telling so many jokes starts to affect Nuke and he gets increasingly exhausted. He diverges into simple material (like nothing but animals for one run), which Tokio notices and has a reaction to (again this is supposed to be funny). In the end Kao-chin is overcome by the power of comedy.

The choice is to timeskip, just because the game designers didn't want to force the player to listen to all 100 if they didn't want to. It has no other effect, although it might prevent you from getting the title you can get from that level (I like to think it's an Achievement-like title for listening to all 100 terrible Japanese puns but I don't know for sure).

In any case that level was one of my favorite parts of the game, and it shows how much effort they put into it.

Ah, my bad. There's just so much of the game I wish I could understand. If I have any more questions I'll direct them elsewhere. Regardless, Thanks for answering my question still! All I have to go off of is the character's funny reactions (Tokio and Kao-chin especially)and certain key-words I understand from watching to much anime, lol.

I was surprised to see Nuke actually acquire an entertained, live audience (Even if he is a .hacker)...in the previous games, they all just logged out mid-joke. What was the deal with Gardenia and Moonstone? As soon as Tokio arrived, they bailed. I'm curious as to how Moonstone was able to lure Tokio to the event.

It having been about 4 months since I last checked this forum, I went through all the pages that popped up since I had last been here. I noticed someone ask if the first patch (by that I mean "Terror Infection") was released in October or pushed back. I saw in a past post a mention of being pushed back to November but then never saw any specific mention to it in any later post. Being unable to find any source of it by searching online, I am assuming that the first patch is still being worked on. To be sure, I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask how the project is going currently. So, how is it going? XD Definitely looking forward to its release and will be rooting for you guys from the sidelines (since I am unable to help in any other way T_T).

edit: I forgot to ask if you plan on editing the original post of this thread with updated information later. I would still probably search all the new pages for info, but I know it would help others.

The first patch has been released, but is not available through this site. If you search for it on Google, however, you should be able to find several sites that host it. Just search ".hack//LINK English Patch".

I forget the exact details but they were recruiting audience I think, and couldn't stand the jokes.

That's not us, that's a different patch that relies a little more on Google translate. We're definitely working on Terror Infection though, basically we just have a few technical hurdles left before getting the first stage patch out the door. This process different from what we've been doing up until now, so we've been hanging on it. In any case the video contains most of the material in the first patch, as we said in the original plan. The first patch makes the plot understandable. You'll be able to tell when it comes out because everyone will be asking about the second patch (j/k... hopefully).

Good to hear its still being worked on. From previous posts, I was aware of that other English patch created by someone else. Hopefully you guys make it over those technical hurdles. I, and I am sure many others, will continue to root for you guys. Good luck.

We are still in early stages of quality checking. We cannot give an exact figure, but we are working hard to get it out ASAP.
