No? And I'm sure?

I wonder.. Because the Name already there But There is only a Twin Blade and ST witch it has all of them are Spells.

Could you Review it in your CB? But I'll delete the Code now and Make new. Just give me some Minutes.

Doppelganger is still an unknown entity... I don't know if ZED is still looking into it, from the sound of things he's not, but I am... not that that will help much since I don't understand the hacking process half as well as he.

The first step is figuring out what causes doppelganger WEAPONS to be black... Doppelganger, Anti-existence, and their weapons do not use their own models... they use the exact same models as the party members do, they just change the color on the texture somehow... So far we've yet to figure out how this is done.

I think the pertinent information is stored in the actual character data as opposed to the model data. Mile(generic) uses the same model as another character, but with a different color scheme. HOWEVER, they both use the same texture, which means there must be some pointer in the data somewhere that tells them to use different CLUTs(Color Look-Up Tables).

While on the surface it may seem like I understand how that works... I have no IDEA how to modify it in any way.

Interestingly, changing Haseo's model does not affect Doppelganger, so there must be a place where his model is statically defined as well. If that could be found, a lot more could be done with him.

As for understanding the vol3 to vol2 conversion, it is this...

Code: Select all

Vol3 code:
00B4E72C 00000002 Haseo uses his 3rd form model

Calculation:
 00B4E72C 00000002
-000865D0 00000000
__________________
 00AC815C 00000002

Vol2 code:
00AC815C 00000002 Haseo uses his 3rd form model

Or in other words...
Vol3 Code -(subtract) 000865D0 00000000 =(equals) Vol2 Code

So you're Still Getting some Info about Doppelgangers?

That's Cool.

And Color must be Black or something Eyes red shiny I guess and Red Stuffs. Also the Voice. I know it's hard work >< But I'm sure you'll gonna do it :P

About three Taihakus. The Game Freezes in the Fields Dungeon by Suprise/Begin.
In Arena It plays. But in the end of Battle. Nothing.

1 Taihaku and that means me. It works. Correctly.

Code: Select all

Vol3 code:
00B4E72C 00000002 Haseo uses his 3rd form model
The Codes for Haseo 3rd form.. I tried it before the Game Stuck [ After getting the Xth Form of Course ] It doesn't work. [ OR MAYBE I Figure out because my main weapon was DG-0 ]

Right, the 3rd form will crash if your equipped weapon is the DG since the 3rd form cannot use them. It would work if you loaded the game without the code, changed your weapon to a non DG, and then put the code in. Basically it trades in the dual guns for the appearance.

And I've tested my DG Sophora code and it does work. And yeah, the skill trigger having spells was the whole point, since DGs only have one skill: Justice.

No, Sophora will look like Xth form Haseo. That is the only way anyone can ever use the DGs. They have to look like xth form haseo to use DGs, no exceptions.

Satoh wrote:I don't know if ZED is still looking into it, from the sound of things he's not
I'm not looking into anything G.U.-wise at the moment. I got bored of the game from playing it to death, plain and simple.
Satoh wrote:not that that will help much since I don't understand the hacking process half as well as he.
Oh please, you'll get there. My knowledge is mostly intuition and experience anyway.
Satoh wrote:The first step is figuring out what causes doppelganger WEAPONS to be black... There's also the fact that Doppel weapons for our characters get the black texture, and yet, none of the data I've uncovered contains weapon palette info (not that I'd have expected it since weapons only get one color set), so we can't yet change which of these weapons gets the treatment; we can only change the models for the ones that already have the blackened effect. There's definitely something missing.

I would assume the same thing. If you look up generic skins in hackstract, the palette used is always the last one available, for example, you can get -COOH in the game, but hackstract will show you Restia's colors when you look up the 2pcf40 file. As far as how those palettes are changed, those are in the PC actor properties, which you can look up in the model FAQ. SPC's have the same byte, but their actor properties are extremely prone to locking the game up if you alter anything but the class data index; I don't even remember if I ever got to change the byte without getting a freezeup. :\

The best thing to do to try and solve where the palette is being stored might be to either save state in PCSX2 with a generic not using a 00 value palette in the current area, or save dumping in town/the first 50 blocks of the FoP with a party at the Neo Platform.

Huh? I'm pretty sure it does, as that's exactly what I did for my Zelkova vs. Doppel Zelkova video.

In fact, this and the Anti-Existence make me believe Doppel's black aura may be the result of a status. Of course, I don't know that for sure, it's just the experience talking. :P

That's it right there. You can't have a dual gun equipped. You could try removing the guns or replacing them with some other weapon, you could also try setting your actual Form to 3rd instead of Xth. (Or all of these to be safe)

Also, the Enju code that replaces Haseo DOES make the game freeze upon loading the Doppelganger, which means we DO have a place to look for a link.

My Enju code seems to work just fine, no glitches aside from switching weapons in a field... I haven't tried kicking, but I'm sure it won't work... but I really haven't tried it.

On the weapon switching issue, I can switch weapons fine in the Root Towns, but not in the field it seems. That being the case, pick a weapon you want to use and pick your appropriate skills before going to the field or dungeon. I'm sure changing my form back to 2nd will fix the issue, since it's probably linked to the 'Set Main Weapon' command and not the weapons themselves.

I'm not sure I understand how to do class modifying codes though. I want to be able to use staves and dual swords, as Enju normally would(theoretically). Is that possible? It seems like it should be, since Haseo's data supports 4 classes...right?

@ Zed: Besides Satoh's code which I was testing myself, and the mastercode, naturally, the following codes were in effect.

Haseo = 1st form (Because I forgot the second form one, though I believe it's just 01 instead of 00. I will change this to 2nd form on my next test, with normal, unhacked weapons)

Sophora's weapon type = Weapon (worked fine)
Sophora's Weapon = Fan Jasper (worked and replaces my Usurp Otome with a Usurp Jasper)

Skill trigger codes: I thought that by equipping a fan, I could hack spells into the skill trigger. This did not work. This, my originally unmodified Multitrigger setup defaulted to Gale Blade x 3 and Ghost falcon, and these codes did nothing. Of course, I only tried this when the normal skills were not working. Also, casting from the menu occasionally results in Sophora freezing up until I get hit again.

In case this somehow matters, This was tested on a level 104 Haseo right before the Chim Chim song quest in a level 105 field in the Sigma Server. I did NOT start the quest, but my objective was to see if I could actually advance the story this way.

It's also possible I made an input error. I will check this now.

EDIT: Go figure, I made the same mistake on the same two lines with the same pattern. For example

509AA39C 00000014

was typo'd as

59AA388

I'll be testing to see if all is well now.

NOTE: If The Xth Triad are Glitching ( Freezing Game ) too I guess no need for it :x

Okay, the game has not loaded since I fixed the codes. And when I try to load it without codes, I just get Haseo, although I DID save as Sophora. Is that normal for generics? On my file where I took Sophora and masked over her with Alkaid, Alkaid loads as the party leader properly. I'd rather not need to rely on codes every time since my cheat device is a pain in the neck. I might just stick to modified SPCs.

@Supremeking: Enju is Sophora's Japanese name.

The only way to make anyone use any weapon (not counting DGs, which truly do have no exceptions to the Xth form rule) is to use a generic character. This is very complicated and I do not know how, and Satoh is still learning this too. There's a LOT of math involved, and generic characters can't even use Level 3 arts. But they CAN use every weapon. (It freezes if you try to change in battles or field/s dungeons though, you need to change in town) No one will ever have the time to answer code requests for this because of how long making the codes is, so if you want to test it out, you may as well use the Enju code. It masks over Haseo's 3rd form model with Sophora modified to be a generic.

509AA388 00000014 is correct.

What cheat device are you using Ranylyn?

@TSK
Enju is the japanese name for Sophora. Enju is easier to type, say, and I like it more in general. My avatar's kanji says "Enju" and is a picture of Sophora... (Not that I'd expect you to read kanji, hell, I can't read it either, I looked it up)

10B46A2E 0000???? - Haseo's current weapon (I wouldn't use this permanently, I would save with it on and load without it)

10B559F6 0000???? - Haseo's dual gun

Try setting both of those to something other than a DG. (Pick a weapon you want to actually use because that may be the only weapon you can use while the codes are on.)

How I would try it:

Set your 'Main Weapon' to something other than a dual gun in the menu and have this code on:

Haseo's reserve Dual Gun[4th Slot] weapon
10B559F6 0000000C
[This is the level 1 Heine's Invasion Doppelganger weapon, this is the one Doppelganger actually uses, and has higher stats than the one the player gets for defeating Doppelganger.]

Having a dual sword in the DG weapon slot SHOULD help with the equipment based glitch issues.

@both
Ranylyn is right, I am still learning the ropes with this, but I have also been doing code research and dealing with hexadecimal math for several years... so it's not a big deal that I understand what's going on here better than you both.

Currently I'm compiling a list of addresses for easy lookup... Those will be the data for generic PCs so that there is far less PS2DIS mucking about... hopefully.

If I have the time later, I'll also write a small program to 'create' character replacement codes... but that might take a while.

Wow, silly me, I put in Zed's corrected code first and then I compared it to the initial error. Wow.

In that case, I had all the right codes. I am also trying this early in the game, pre Xth form. Might my glitches be fixed if I try this Post Xth form?

As for my cheat device, I actually have a Swapmagic 3 Plus Coder. It basically acts like a codebreaker but my PS2 is modded to play imports so I need it to bypass the region check as well. At any rate, the only annoying thing about it is that instead of

00000000 00000000

Codes are input and displayed as

0000000000000000

Making it a little harder on the eyes. Anyways, I'll try with the Xth form and a non DG weapon, thanks for that tip, and I goof luck in that generic PC groundwork! If anything comes up I can help wth, like testing, just let me know!

Ah, you're not using a genuine codebreaker... that could explain the errors... Codebreaker is setup to use copy-codes by starting with 5....... ........ and so on, your cheat device may not have the same code styles... if you want maximum compatibility I recommend getting a codebreaker disc or a codebreaker backup copied disc... though I have no idea how backup discs are going to work... however... you could try manually typing in every line instead of copy-code use...

In the end I think your problems are device related... as irritating as I know that may be. (For a long time I used a Gameshark V.4, then I realized it was fundamentally different from codebreaker, even if some of the same codes would work on it. Then I switched and I have had far less errors.)

I was open to that possibility of it being my Coder Disc myself, until I changed the codes back and now Sophora works. I guess I made a typo in the second line ending in 14 and did it right the second time? Anyways, I do have my codes saved to my memory card, thank god, inputting some of these every time would be brutal!

Except now that Sophora/ Enju works, my game is freezing when I try to invite someone my party. This is easily rectified with party codes, of course. Though I hope it was a one time crash since I haven't tried it since and why would it affect my party?

At any rate, now that she works (thanks again, both you for for posting the original and to Zed for correcting it, I'm having fun playing with this) I was thinking of giving her a weapon we can't normally play as. Think Tribal Grappler suits her? I know Lord Partizan kind of doesn't....

Ironically I used a scythe for abut 2 hours with her... Though I may go with Blades for a while next...

Also, I've discovered that replacing Haseo's model is a very. bad. idea. The game is NOT playable with the Enju code on as it is. I will be changing it shortly...

Wait for it...
...
...
...
... done.

Here is the new version.

Code: Select all

Copy Generic stuff over Enju's default stuff
509AA388 00000014
0095B920 00000000
Replace Enju with... herself...
2095B934 0096AD48
Copy more Generic crap
509AA3A0 00000014
0095B938 00000000
Tell Haseo to use his 104th form model (IE,tell him to use Enju's first form instead of his own model)
00B4E72C 00000068
I will be testing it out promptly.
It should work better... but I'll save you some time by posting my results, don't mess with it until then.

EDIT: Results, exact same issues as the first code, BUT you can turn Haseo on and off I guess now... if you can somehow joker the Form model code... I'll mess with that a bit later... I'm going to try to make Enju able to view cutscenes, which she can't do as of now.

I remember Zed saying the game doesn't like you masking over Haseo with other characters, or something like that. I've also noticed that the game is not playable as non Haseo characters either. Basically, we can't win unless we can find a code to convince the game we are Haseo when we aren't. Unless maybe we can hack a generic Haseo over real Haseo simply for the weapon variety? Oh well. I'd settle for having spells in the skill trigger and having the full spell lists of the Harvest Clerics and Macabre dancers myself, even if it limited me to only one weapon.

Basically, your best bet may be to set up a joker code to change characters. However, apparently the only time it "works" so to speak is let's say you hit the joker in an area, and warp back to town, boom changed, and vice versa. In other words, you need to play the story as Haseo. It really sucks, I know. I want to play as someone else too. At least we have this fun to play with in the post-endgame, right?

Well, anyways, I tried Sophora as a grappler. I never noticed how much their basic attack combos suck, they make blade brandiers look awesome, and brandiers suck outside of skills!

Re: Dot Hack GU3 Redemption Codes

Ok, idea!

Code: Select all

If Haseo's current accessory is NOT [xxxx], make him use Enju's model
D0B46A46 0010xxxx
00B4E7A4 00000068

Else If it IS [xxxx] make him use his 3rd form model
D0B46A46 0000xxxx
00B4E7A4 00000002
Now, provided models aren't reloaded until after an area change, this should work... However, if trying to swap a model while in an area causes a lockup then we have a problem... I can't say I've ever tried jokering such a code before...

The idea is that you quickly change equipment before a cutscene and then change again afterward... that way you can at least be certain that the scene will play out correctly... though you may be forced to play some areas as Haseo this way...

Eventually I plan to hack a code using what your desktop settings are as a joker to determine what you are... that way you can log out and change one setting and lo back in to get a different model... that I know would work, since no models are needed at the desktop...

By the way, does anyone know if my Joker Off code for infinite items worked? (press a button and items aren't infinite anymore)? I never did get feedback on that and I wanted to know how it worked out... (That was the first code I ever hacked without having some sort of guide to follow)
