My own theory is that Sora got the Kingdom Key in KH1 is from Terra since in the BBS scene (if i recall correctly, it happens before KH1) it was Terra who picks the Kingdom Key and since its shown in that they watched over Sora and Riku, maybe they're deciding who is they're going to choose to inherit the keyblade and somehow, the keyblade chooses Sora and leaves Terra. It just my speculation though, and it seems the flaw in my theory is the things Riku said about he is the chosen one and Sora is just a delivery boy.
