ONTOPIC:Yeah, but the gundam and digimon games didnt neccessarily do great (well digimon world 1 did)here, but their ads were always nice...and it doneby the same company, so there's no excuse. If you're gonna market something, you put something into the actual marketing if you expect to see any kind of profit. Or else, why even sell it in the first place?

(I do realize gundam and digimon do have larger fanbases here than .hack, but still...)
Offtopic: Chapter 6

ONTOPIC:The whole difference with Digimon and Gundam is that they had several..And this especially for Gundam, seasons. Not to mention a anime and game to go together, it's like Pokemon if you think about it.

As for .hack, we have the game, but the first 4 don't go that far for //SIGN

We have Roots but it's not out on local tv stations in canada and such, not many places have it. So once you buy GU and you get this large 8 month gap and then you first hear about Shino you go " WTF is this guy talking about..who the hell is that..wtf!!! "

So first time gamers of .hack will be confused unless they played the first 4 ( Since..it's kite and such, Phases..AURA..I just watched the Terminal Disc ) but without the anime then the 8 month gap and Ovan and Shino will confuse anybody and most likely turn them off from the game and then return it from sheer annoyance.

So, less sales due to all of that.

Well AK is kinda for origonal fans anyways. He doesn't really play a large role in the grand scheme of GU. And neither does Aura, so the only really confusing part is the lack of info about Shino in the beginning. But when Ovan tells Atoli about Shino you kinda learn the rest, if you haven't seen ROOTS.

Hmmm... You do have a point. However, // ROOTS isn't that much necessary for you to play // G.U.

Sure, there are details and pieces of the story that are missing in case you don't watch it... But they aren't really needed for you to understand the whole thing. Without //ROOTS, you can understand that there was someone named Shino and Haseo is pissed off because something bad happened to that character. If I recall right, there was something similar in the first 4 chapters, about blackrose and her brother or something. And, as said before, Ovan explains to Atoli who Shino was, and then you can get to understand the things going around Haseo

IIRC the new issue of Newtype has another article on .hack//roots and I think talks about the game-- I haven't gotten the chance to read it yet, but I do remember seeing both an ad for the game on the back cover as well as the roots article being mentioned on the cover.

Who knows- maybe march is the actual release date? probably not *but a .hacker can hope!*

I still question the fact why Skeith and Magus are fighting in that magazine ad. Kinda throws me off a bit at what they were thinking of using a Vol 1 thing.

As for the ROOTS thing, If it were anybody else that played the game. Wouldn't you have been sorta annoyed and confused when you were getting PK'd and saved by ovan and then all of the sudden a text pops up showing

" 8 Months Later "

Now at first you'd be sorta wondering what happened during those 8 months and what the hell happened to our lovable Haseo that was innocent, he suddenly turned evil and Sadistic with his cutting off Bordeaux's head.

Then of course you go for the Tri-Edge/Kite scene and then hear the words

" This guy killed Shino.. "

Now, at that point you'd be going " Who the hell? " And then the story would be turning you off from everything, due to the fact that the game doesn't explain those 8 months that well, and you keep hearing of a girl named Shino over and over without having any real attachments to her or viewpoints of what Haseo is feeling. Major Turnoff for playing the game if you don't understand the character already and why he's doing what he's doing.

Wouldn't people WANT to play the game to find the answers to those questions? If anything, that helps grabs people's interest. But, the game might not explain it well enough, and turn people off after beating it and having questions un-answered. But, the cliff-hanger of Vol.1 might grab their interest again. And maybe their questions will be answered in the next games. Or, maybe it's just such a bad-ass video game people will love it. It could go so many ways...

All that aside... I want it... *sniff*

Well I agree withyou about the cliffhanger, at first my friend didn't find it interesting till the end where she was asking me whatever happened to Atoli.

Also she finnaly got into it once the Crowning ceremony and Ovan being a sob durin that scene in which he said everything. Poor Little Haseo.

But I can consider both sides really, the lack of information and character could make people give up since they don't know how to relate or know how it felt to lose Shino since they don't even know how she acted.

Also ROOTS provided alot of info comparing to TAN and Yata/Pai/Kuhn things..

Also.*takes off hat*Let's not Forget Phyllo who will return in Vol 2. People who watched Roots will really be happy, while others won't even know the value of the cat guy.

Guys I think its very possible that VOL2 will come out soon. When VOL1 came out gametrailers the opening movies were out and stuff. Now gametrailers has both openings for VOL2. Its looking good.

I think advertising would be good if it was coming out in the summer, but they're brining out the openings.

Phyllo is very much dead and and no he does not come back.

The Phyllo in vol .2 is more like a recording, meant to teach Haseo about  Lost Weapons
